      I Had To Replace A Thermostat Back In January, Then Yesterday I Had Air In My Lines Again. I Thought That It Was A Head Gasket Leak, So I Bought The K- Seal And Dumped It In, Just To Find Out That It Was Actually The Water Pump.@@ozzstars_cars

      Hey Brother Man. I Got The Water Pump Changed. It Took Me Longer To Get The
      Fan Off Than It Did To Do The Rest Of The Job. So Thanx A' Million Buddy,
      I Couldn't Have Done It Quicker Without

    Thanks for this video I am about to buy a jeep liberty KJ. So far, you are the only video or pics that I can find that showed the actual tow pkg fans . The sellers keep insisting their vehicles have the tow packages and price them up. I keep insisting they have just the hitches which I think was from a factory recall for safety. Now I know what I'm looking for. I am an absolute newbie to mechanics, but I am 100% willing and ready to learn. Being a newbie doesn't make one incompetant just new. I'm ready to learn. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

      I found my jeep today after a long, rough, ableist infested search.....i got a 2005 today and tomorrow I start ordering some parts to get her ready for my purposes! Thanks again so much for your very detailed videos which have given me a very confident start at looking under the hood! Pretty sure you are owed a partial commission based on my knowledge from this video alone to negotiate!! (I've been looking everywhere..your video just provided the info)!!! Thanks again. I'll be checking out your channel very soon.

    I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty with all the fans you have. I agree with the others here that this is the best video showing both fans and their removal. I got a check engine light that was I think 0128 which said the coolant temp did not heat up fast enough and web searches say to replace thermostat and thermostat sensor. I cleared the code the first time but it showed up again and I left it and it cleared itself. With the warmer weather it hasn't happened again but I am ready to replace the thermostat and I will be following your video step by step. My guess is that the thermostat is not closing all the way. Thanks for the vid, especially the part on how to remove the clutch fan. Might as well change the water pump and pulleys while I'm in there.

      Unfortunately I was defeated in removing the fan clutch. I tried my air hammer with a 18 in cresent (destroyed that), then I broke out the 4 lb hammer, lol, almost destroyed the radiator. Guess I'll give it a couple days rest to think about it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

      Yes, righty tighty lefty loosey. Also my nearby Oreily had the 44180 spanner wrench for rent. I got that and I will give it go tomorrow. I'll keep you posted, thanks

    I had to take the shroud and fan clutch assembly out together. There wasn't enough clearance otherwise. Since I was replacing the water pump, I drilled a hole in the pump pulley and locked it with a phillips against the alternator bolt

    This is what I need to know, so many Liberty videos only show a sport version that does not have a fan in front of the pump.

    How long does it take to bleed the air out using the bleeder port on top hose/block housing? It seems like it's taking forever online after changing the thermostat. I keep driving the car heating it up and then I park it on an incline and crack the valve while the engine is running and tried while it's off because it seems to heat up more that way after its shut off. It just seems it's taking an amazingly long amount of time I've done this cycle at least three or four times 5 minutes each.

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  4 роки тому +1

      Sounds abnormal. Have you done an engine compression test? Make sure it's not exhaust gas in the cooling system.

    • @biketothetop
      @biketothetop 4 роки тому

      @@ozzstars_cars Thanks for respinding! So, I haven't done a compression test. I was changing only the thermostat after it ran hot. I had an event when driving through the desert I saw the temperature gauge going up very high and stop the mediately. I let it cool back down and proceeded to drive with the heater on in the windows down for several hundred miles while maintaining temperature at the normal operating value on the gauge thereafter. I've been driving it a little bit since then off and on without any Excursion whatsoever. I was planning to take a trip with the vehicle again so I figured I better just do the thermostat. I was thinking maybe it was just a lot of air in the engine because we used a vacuum evacuation system before adding coolant again. It's still running hot and I've let the bubbles out through the bleed Port multiple times . I see your concern about the compression and what it might tell me. So exhaust gas in the cooling system is indicative of a blown head gasket, right?

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  4 роки тому +1

      @@biketothetop that is correct, or a cracked cylinder head. Vacuum bleeding will usually leave almost no air in the cooling system.

    • @biketothetop
      @biketothetop 4 роки тому

      @@ozzstars_cars I'll test to see if there's exhaust Trace in the coolant and then compression. That will be the next easy step, then compression. Is that a good plan?

    Question: I did a pressure check and got to 15 psi and it started leaking at two places. The cap says 18 PSI, did I apply too much pressure to test for leaks? It was leaking at top side of water pump and both ends of the tube between radiator and engine.

    • @ozzstars_cars

      Ozzstar Greetings! The question of the complete cooling system. I have Liberty in 2002. The problem is that it did not have a fan on the engine, there was only an electric fan for the air conditioner. Tell me, what is the correct line-up? There must be two fans?

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  6 років тому

      The fan mounted to the engine at the water pump was an option for the 'heavy duty" cooling system. If the Liberty only has an electric fan then your car doesn't have that option and has the standard system.

  • @TaijiArban

    Nice! My 05 liberty is the exact same as yours with towing pkg! Can you tell me where the engine block drain plug is? I wanna do a full coolant flush but I can't find the drain plug for the engine.

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  7 років тому +1

      You should be able to upgrade wIth the correct parts. Contact Jeep to find out which mechanical parts you will need. Better yet find one in a junkyard with the 'heavy duty' cooling system and scab it all. There are plenty of them out there.

    That fan was on backwards! The blades should be sucking air through the rads towards the engine when turning clockwise (as you look at the engine), but it was set up to blow air back into the radiator!
