These 3.7 V6 Jeep engines have a rubber gasket that after about 4 to 5 years of use will seep when cold weather hits. My 2008 Liberty is on its 3rd water pump gasket since new and now since cold weather has returned it's seeping again. The water pumps have never failed. It's always been the gasket that starts to leak in cold weather. Watch for a small puddle under the engine in the morning after a cold night. Safe to drive because it warms up and reseals, but you still need to replace the gasket when you can. I have replaced only the gasket once without replacing the water pump myself when the truck had 120K miles. Dealer replaced pump and gasket under warranty at about 50k Miles. Now since the Jeep has 169K on it I'll also replace the water pump since I'm in there. While you're in there replace the belt and tensioner too.
I am at the tail end of the same project on a 2008 Libby (following a mechanic's diagnosis of bad water pump, which had an aged-out gasket [o-ring style]). Its annoying how much crap there is to get out of the way. The water pump itself is easy. I cleaned up the mating face on the engine with wet and dry sandpaper. While I am in there I am replacing the upper and lower hoses. The hose fittings on radiator and engine were astoundingly clean (3 are plastic, 1 is aluminum). I am also replacing the serpentine belt tensioner pully and idler pulley. I notice that you did not use the engine bleed plug near the upper hose (engine end) to bleed the cooling system.
Thank you for watching! You’re absolutely correct the pump it self is very easy, mainly it’s all the stuff in your way that takes time. It’s the perfect timing to change any deteriorated parts now. Radiator hoses, belt, tensioner, thermostat, etc. you will save your self a lot of headache in the future. I did actually used the bleeder on the top of the engine while filling up the coolant it was just edited out by mistake. I’m glad someone is watching and actually paying attention to details. The water pump can also be changed without removing the tanks or all of that other stuff. I did one yesterday it took about 40 minutes. The only thing that has to be removed is the alternator. Plenty of room without it in the way.
Thanks SO much for this tip, saved a lot of extra work. Although getting the damn belt back on was a HUGE struggle, don't know why, because when it finally DID pop back on, it seemed easy. Really need to get the idler ALL the way over to have enough slack
When you put a gallon back! Was it in the plastic thing? Or where you removed the metal cap? Cause right now i put the gallon in plastic and now happenings

Braulio Banuelos some models came with a mechanical fan that uses fan clutch and it attache to the water pump with one big nut. In this case you will need a wrench type tool with a locking arm to hold the pump while losing the fan or there’s an attachment that goes on impact air chisel that u can use before taking the belt off.
Elijah Bear should be the same. Some models came with a clutch fan if that’s the case in your car, you might have to remove the fan in a different way that’s all
No need to do all this upper removal ... Put the car on ramps if you prefer and do the entire job from under the car ..... Did mine this way in less than two hours ... so easy ...no need to take the battery , reservoir etc out ... WTF .. Tons of room from underneath ..
He goes way too fast for the average person to follow. He also takes for granted that most first time DIY'ers know how to remove certain parts without explaining procedure - for instance, removing the plastic clip mount attaching electrical supply to the plastic antifreeze / windshield solvent reservoir.

What’s the torque specs of the water pump bolts?

You have to fill where the metal cap is first and make sure all air is out.
