- Sound Cues in Destiny 2 are very underrated and actually provide a TON of valuable information that players can use to gain an advantage in PvP. In many cases, the sounds are even more valuable than the radar! This video explains how you can use sound cues to become more aware in the Crucible and become an overall better PvP player. Top Destiny players pay close attention to certain sound cues to make better decisions, but I feel like newer Destiny players tend to not know how to act on these sounds, or they just ignore them altogether. Hopefully this video helps you learn what sounds are important so that you can be a better player.

I do just fine since iam not playing Ultra competitive ,I don't use any I mean any sound at all ,it's a distraction and I hate the game noise on top of that I don't talk to anyone ingame at all ever I hate it even more then the game play noise.
Sound cues are great! I actually love momentum control to break my radar crutch habits! But I also practice without sound too just to improve my all around game sense!
Awesome
@@ShadowDestiny I did learn something new tho! I’ve never noticed the heat rise waves by my abilities, I knew the opponent themselves puts off the flames but never noticed that before. Does that trigger if they are anywhere on the map using it or is it if they’re in close proximity?
Sounds are more valuable than radar in momentum control, that’s for sure
Thanks mountaintop. If only people used me as much as they use sound in momentum control
Mountaintop can I have a cookie
I use you A TON, ur a beast for ad clear with bottom tree sun breaker
True that!
I love that you made this! After your poll the other day and I voted sound was very important or the most or something… I can’t remember the options tbh but for me it’s paramount. I play almost completely off sound a lot of the time if I’m peek shooting a lane or something. Radar and what-not isn’t fast enough while I’m looking at target, etc.
Awesome! Yeah the sound cues are amazing for that
How does this channel not have at least 100k subs.. literally the most criminally underrated D2 channel rn
Im definitely going to pay attention to that heat mirage effect from heat rises
Ayo wtf i feel personally attacked with that "or just blast music all the time" LMFAO accurate af

Amazing work on these videos lately. Really valuable information.
I somehow intuitively knew when I heard a enemy super pop, but I never knew why. Great to gretsome clarity on that, among many other things.
This is an amazing video, been playing since D2 beta and didn’t know a bunch of these
Awesome!
Lol 6 days ago I posted on reddit asking about help with sound and shotgun rushers and this is 100x more helpful with all the testing and comparisons.
POG
Definitely the first video I have seen focusing on sound! Thanks mate!
I have over time noticed that I was aware of people that I wouldn't have been aware of without sound cues.
Fantastic idea for a video! I love it! I've honestly been looking for a video on this
haha thanks! This video got kinda buried by YT so I'm glad to hear some people are still enjoying it
Great vid shadow not many destiny content creators make videos on topics like this so it really helps when you do
🥰🥰
I never notice the double Sound. Thank you a lot :-)
This is amazing stuff. Thank you.
Sounds are extremely valuable. I've known that so I almost didn't watch this, however, you hit on sounds I didn't knownor understand. Thanks! The biggest sound cue that saves me alot is the sound of the Jotunn. I am a blink warlock and as soon as I hear it I blink straight at them and it will miss the majority of the time.
Thank you. This was super helpful.
Great stuff man!
Useful info, solid writing, and pleasant experience all around... this is professional content here. Yours are the first vids I've shared on discord in a long time. You'll add another zero or two to that sub count in no time!! 👍👍
Really appreciate the kind words!
Great, infotmative as always
Great info!
I really think you should make a sniper flinch tier list, and rate how specific snipers handle flinch in comparison to each other. I haven’t seen anyone else make anything like this, and I think it would make for useful and awesome content.
Great video I was mentioning this to my classmates while farming comp this weekend. We were playing a team with all fusions and my team kept getting vooped. I told them you can hear the fusion rifle charging make sure you dodge or stay outta the doorways or crouch down something when you hear that fusion charge. Dont just push up while they are charging their fusion. Your giving them kills that way. We lost but was fun
Thanks! Yeah this is very important especially for countering fusions
Momentum control gives you really good sound hoar training since there’s no radar. It was amazingly helpful for me and didnt realize how a few games without the radar can affect how you pick up sound cues. It’s great when going up against a jemini jester user. You can also use the fact not many people sound hoar to your advantage when using jemini jester and top tree nightstalker and taking the radar away and also manipulating the radar with smokes and invis.
Such a good video. Well done
Thanks!
Awsome content! This is pvp masterclass stuff
Thanks!
Shadow coming in with another BANGER 🔥🔥
:O
FYI, ps5 has 3d sound capabilities that make the sound experience more like first person hearing. I can hear directionally which helps me run away or pick the right engagement. But if there is a lot of chaos of sounds(think big gun fight or simultaneous exosions)it becomes less effective like it would be in real life as you wouldn't be able to decern what is going on.
definitely gonna send this video to some of my blueberries, great vid Shadow!
I appreciate that, thanks!
Coming from apa’s stream!
that whirring noise heir apparent makes is the biggest reason why i run shadebinder. I'm a literal counter to THAT.
I remember being able to do this on instinct when I was playing alot, now I really need to focus
Yo your vids are like a whole new crucible school. Thanks a lot, i've improved my pvp skills a lot. I'm averaging 2.5+ kd on the majority of my games. Perhaps not increasing drastically the number of kills I get, but definitely reducing the number of deaths. Thanks a lot, great work
Nice work!
I love the sound of chroma rush
Love the vids and tips, keep it up
Hey, I got an Adept Shayuras wrath with kill vlip and killing wind, what adept mod would you use with it and should I go with arrowhead break or polygonal?
Great video again shadow I have one problem tho my son is epileptic and I can only use one earphone one so I can hear if he's having a seizure is there anyway in game that I can have left and right hear in one ear sounds strange I know, thanks again for the tips when I can wear both ear pieces on my head lol
Hmm I’m not sure exactly how to do that. It’s definitely not an in-game setting. Basically you’re trying to convert from stereo to mono sound output, maybe in your device settings (on windows) it would let you. If not, I’m sure there’s some program out there that would let you do that
i always feel like the exotic helm that buffs Blink also makes the sound going from loud to extemelly loud
hmm interesting
Sound is super important in momentum control
I'm gonna say sound cues and visual radar and equally important, if not visual a little more so. Both give you a ton of info, and ignoring either can be a guaranteed knock.
BraveXHero made a few videos on it. Once in d1 when he first started then him and apathetic went over it again in d2
There is so much lag on my sound in crucy that I can assume when I hear a super pop that’s it’s already been popped lol
Me only play pvp with my big Headset! And the music in game have to be of. It's a must!
For pve the Sound of my little stereo music boxes is enough.
Great info thanks.
I found this video while looking for info on the audibility of footsteps in this game. It would seem that they are inaudible..
They aren’t inaudible, there is a section where I demonstrate the sound they make. They are very quiet compared to other games though! In Destiny we mostly rely on jump, dodge, slide etc to hear moving opponents
i ALWAYTS keep my audio cranked up to hear the sounds. Footsteps are great. headphones help with the directionals too
What’s da best sens to choose
My main problem is that none of my teammates talk loud enough... I literally have the PS5 chat balance entirely to chat and I still hear the hive knight after my tail before they can be understood... It's either that or mic volume... No one person is going to be able to fix this issue nor am I going to find a solution anytime soon
So like I'm a pve main and don't take pvp seriously I am always playing with another TV on watching whatever I never play with volume and just go full radar crutch I never would have known about the cues without this vid cool
Sound cues are good but I do better when I listen to music and ignore all audio from the game. Probably weird but idk. I can listen to 2 songs at once too tho so maybe I should do both
I was playing against an enemy using a glitched exile curse without a charge sound effect. Most frustrating thing ever.
Hmm interesting
What is the SMG shadow uses in this video? cause it's pretty OP
The MULTIMACH CCX! Best SMG :D
@@ShadowDestiny thanks man I'll grind for a god roll when iron banner comes out next
I listen for jumping/dodge noises to hear
Is this dominant in headphones or speakers? My tv and speakers are set low since I work mid-shift. Can't play with sound on the tv. Headphones I barely use. I guess I'll use them more often.
Headphones are always the way to go for gaming. Better sound quality, directional hearing (left, right, and even up & down), and you'll be much better equipped to pick up on the cues and effects mentioned in the video
yeah I've casually played for a while so I never got too into multiplayer gaming. Solid advice for any multiplayer game tbh, but knowing the sounds is what puts it over the top of most other games.

@@ShadowDestiny I don't have all the DLC's. Should I get everything to maximize my drops or just do gambit crucible and strikes? I don't do vanguard. My weapons and armor is too weak for dungeons and raids.
6:26 I think fusions are always gonna be worse in D2 than D1 because more and more people are playing with actual sound cards and quality headsets. Less people will be playing on a tv which further makes fusions more obsolete sadly
Unless the fusion kills further away than you can hear lmao
@@darkhelmet12e47 even erentil could be heard and that was basically a sniper
Yes.

It’s linked in the description! I’d highly recommend, it’s great for hearing accurate directional sound
Bought them using your link and should get them today. I know they gone with two diff ear cups. Which one do you use?

no, it works like that for all sounds in the game

@@ShadowDestiny I’ve been wanting to know for ages thnx
Tbh I have the sound muted and play music while dominating crucible with only the radar.
I keep the music off to hear footsteps more clearly
pro strats
@@ShadowDestiny i started doing that when i was going for the Unbroken seal, which is the only seal i have completed 😂
I single hop around to mask my movement. Catches players off guard.
Thanks for that tip
Broham keep up the vids! Even us old heads forget shit every now and then!
I always have the sound loud and use earbuds but funnily enough just last night i was trying a set of over ear headphones whilst playing and the sound was much more quieter obviously and not as good and I was getting massacred in pvp (more so than usual at least lol) so after a few matches in iron banner swapped my headphones back again. made me realise just how much i rely on sound as well as the radar
i think sounds are also an important part of pvp gameplay, as i played momentum control (where no radar is available), i often found myself in bad places or did not see an enemy. If i would've focused some more on sounds, i think i wouldn't have found myself in such moments
Awesome. I am going to make a channel about how your eyes work!!!
Top tier content
I hear a super pop then I run!
The sound cues are not a strong point in destiny as their are in other FPS games. As you said, it is more simple than other games. Footsteps are also not heavily relied on either.
Sounds are nothing to scoff on, that’s for sure. Nice overview, keep up the great work!
Never use my radar lol I also have all of my game music cut off so I can here every thing
Sounds are more important, i can hear a hunter jumping to my left pushing me b4 he even pops up on the radar
Facts
As a sniper I can't hear and don't even know how in typing this
I play with no sound, straight up radar and everyone thinks I’m insane
Yes
Why did they get rid of the res sound cue? You only know if you notice in the feed or are shocked it's now a 1v2 instead of a 1v1
I believe they accidentally removed it, but it’s back now! I was noticing it a lot this week in Trials
Define the difference between underrated and super underrated. I need a reference point. I also feel the word super is widely overused and usually by Americans :P.
New video
Indeed 😳
I think they're around the same value. 60% radar especially if it's enhanced with things like knucklehead radar. 40% sound. This can shift a few percent depending on the gamemode like trials, comp, control, etc

Hahah ;)
Yeah, that's great if you have two working ears and are under 40.
Are sounds important? Ask your local shadebinder.
I hate the radar in this game ...this pie segment bs is trash
It can deceive you sometimes haha
Radar is a mistake in any fps game, it shouldn't exists. It ruins the whole experience of fps. imo.
Have you played Destiny during the times they removed radar? It wasn’t an enjoyable experience for most people, myself included.
@@ShadowDestiny nope, i played trials of the nine w/o radar and it was way better than trials of osiris right now, players sometimes are scared to move, only because they sees the glowing things around them every time, they looking in a wrong direction because of the radar, they look at radar when you above or below them, instead of focusing on a target when and where it moves, like in any other good fps games. You should hear the footsteps, weapon sounds, any other sounds that tells you that the enemy are near by, not by looking at the square thing in a corner of your screen. This is just not right, for many players there is too much information on the screen already, and now you even need too look at the corner of the screen. You should see by your eyes where the opponent is right now, or you should approximetly tell where he could be, you should not know where he is just by looking and the red markers, imagine if radar was at the center of the screen, where crosshair is right now, and everything else was in the corner, this is how i feel about radar. It just wrong.
