Chinese smartphones were once thought of as cheaply made, unreliable and not very durable. But in recent years, Chinese smartphone brands have made large inroads to take a bigger share of the global market. The Chinese models have earned a reputation for being powerful yet affordable, and because they support advanced 5G networks across the budget range. Major brands from other countries have struggled to price their phones as low as their Chinese competitors do. As a result, top Chinese smartphone brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo are seeing growth in worldwide smartphone shipments to the point that they now provide stiff competition to the likes of Apple and Samsung across the range of smartphone models.

Thanks to brands like Xiaomi, now we can own high end Smart phones without spending a lot. Truly, Chinese brands are a "karma" to the likes of Apple and Samsung whose phones are exorbidantly price! Greetings from the Philippines!

Living in Canada almost 80% of the market is Apple and Samsung.... I imported a Mi 11 from Xiaomi that offer similar performance if not better than other flagships for less than half the price of Apple

Same here. My Asus phone is 6 years old. Recently had some issue with sound and sim card detection. I installed the latest firmware, now it's doing fine like a new phone ☺.

I've had a umidigi phone for 3yrs now and it's still working perfectly and the battery is still strong, I'm never going to buy a mainstream phone again after seeing how well made these Chinese smartphones are.

What i like the most about chinese phones; they're not being pretentious at marketing their products. They just tell all the features available and that's it. No empty promises. Now compare that with apple or samsung which always use all those difficult words and seem so smug and obnoxious

My first Chinese brand phone was from Huawei and this year I upgraded to gaming phone Nubia Red Magic by ZTE. Very affordable and really ahead with the two known brands. Thanks to them we can enjoy the luxury of high-end phones in a reasonable price.

@@vegandonut5456 sure, but it solves the drop test problem, either way i would still argue samsung's build quality beats it cheaper cheaper chinese counterparts. Also software (just as important) is wayyyyy better than all those chinese brands. Apps are less buggy as app developers don't bother doing fixes on chinese brands as there are too many different models and UIs , as opposed to samsung. Also a samsung phone will continue to get security and software updates for way longer after you buy the phone. Trust me i would know, I bought a Redmi, cheaper on paper in terms of hardware, but after using the phone for a while you can understand why it was cheap as they take huge shortcuts when it comes to software development and optimisations.

Chinese smartphones are ADVANCE and AFFORDABLE. And they have the high end line too. But America JEALOUS and banned Huwaei.
The reason why Chinese smartphones are selling hard is because the rest of the world is not as prosperous as US. I can only afford Poco X3 which cost me around $250. No iPhone product has that price tag.
Buy an iPhone. You get the value, but lost all your money.

Honestly, apple are only focusing on those customers who have the ability to afford it not those who doesn't have the strength to afford one. So why would you say something like that without knowing it's main target?
As an android user and an apple user. It's true when considering the features in the phone but the main selling here is the trust, in fact apple phones never forces you to buy their phone it's for only that have a capability to spend that phone. If the people wants to spend that price range you have nothing to do about it's the trust of the brand and loyalty to the company.

When i was a student in China i bought a chinese brand smartphone . Anddd it was the best phone ever and i paid only 1300 yuans for it . The picture quality ,screenplay, battery timing and durability all gave a very tough competition to my next phone Samsung . i had that phone for 4 years and handed it to my sister she had it for 2 years. That phone was a gorilla with six inches screen . I m in love with Chinese phones they are worth more than money they r paid for.

Key factors are components: cameras, processors, memory chips; software and software/model support for several years. For mid-range price you should change a smartphone every 2 years because there are no software updates.
A few years ago I did not consider buying a Chinese smartphone, now I have a second Redmi and I would not exchange it for any other. You can turn off all tracking options on Chinese phones, but try to do it on the 4 x more expensive iPhone :) it will break before I get bored of my Xiaomi and buy another one.

I have been using Oppo k3(a Chinese brand) for about 2 years now. The experience has been great so far and it only cost me 1499 Yuan (about 300 Usd).

There's another factor to consider when competing in the smartphone market. Brands such as Apple has value compared to other smartphone devices. The brand Apple itself on a device increased the value of that device, that's why Apple is able to sell their devices at high prices. Old Apple devices are even valued as equal as new mid range smartphones from other tech companies.
And so is supreme as a brand .. sure value is there but , is value worth charging $500 for a 10$ shirt just because of the logo?

Apple and Samsung have monopolized the 🇺🇲 market. I bought 🇭🇰 phone years back & found out the hard way no one will help you get service. I learned to program it myself and it was so worth the headache. TY Ulefone!

Been using Xiaomi but changed to Samsung.. now I regret it and wanted to change back to Xiaomi due to its better performance in autocorrect. I think Xiaomi use machine learning.

Except Apple & Samsung there is no option. All are Chinese. I have never used any Chinese phone but Oneplus + Huawei + Vivo + oppo + MI + realme + Poco + Redmi + IQOO + ZTE etc. make maximum share. LG, Asus, HTC, Nokia, Motorola, Sony are out of market.

My guess is that Apple is struggling to keep up with the technological progress because they lack manufacturing capacity. And Samsung may start using both Android and HarmonyOS in their phones. And I suspect that China will start producing everything domestically, including CPUs.
