I have the solution, everyone! 1.Open all your windows and doors. 2.If you have any fans, turn them on. 3.Mop your floors with a mixture of soap and water. 4.Clean all your furniture and wash all your clothes. 5.The last step is crucial: boil some water in a pot and cut a couple of lemons. Add them to the boiling water and let it boil for a good 30 to 40 minutes. I promise you it will get rid of the smell. BE AWARE! DO NOT LET THE BOILING WATER CONSUME ITSELF. Make sure you are checking so you don’t burn this again I accidentally fell asleep while cooking some beans, which burnt and woke me up to my alarms. My studio apartment was full of smoke, and I was in panic mode. This happened around 12 am, and I spent my night cleaning up. But what really did the trick for me was the boiling water with lemon pieces. It's now 4 am, and the burnt smell is almost 80% gone. I feel so relieved and safe now. I'm glad none of my neighbors noticed.

This is why I'm here!! I fell asleep after forgetting I had put some potatoes to boil in my pressure cooker... they should have been done in 35 minutes, I think they were on for 3 hours at a minimum. It's the next day and my whole house absolutely reeks of that burned smell. I've been burning scented candles, laundered everything made of fabric, have mopped the floors and wiped down all the surfaces with scented cleaner, washed the windows, and have had the doors and windows open for hours. Nothing is working. I think I need to demolish the house.

a better trick i found is boiling a pot of water and adding a citrus-y (or any other scented) essential oil; this got rid of the smell well mixed with the open windows and wiping things down with vinegar.
I've found that placing charcoal or something like carbon helps soak up the smell too. Whether it's a burnt smell or any other foul smells. Another thing I do, if I want the smell to get at least masked over immediately, is brew some coffee. It masks over the smell nicely & helps you deal with the smell until the it leaves the premises.
I burnt bacon. Just put a bowl of vinegar out. It's helping already. Fan above stove- nothing. Btw using some vinegar in your mop bucket, keeps away the ants. They dont like it.

Just make sure you wipe the wall down immediately with a damp soapy rag. Otherwise it will eat through the paint. Vinegar is beastly! And you're right, I've never had a bowl of vinegar kill unbearably strong odors. It only works if it's sprayed or wiped on surfaces or if the odors are mild and it's left out for days.
