Do you think they should keep the MICA flight model the same or change it so that it doesn't tweak at close range???
There is no way they can keep it as is.
Nothing about the MICA flight model is even remotely correct at the moment.
TVC fails spectacularly more often than it works properly. (on top of being less effective than IRL)
The range is nerfed three-fold :
- modeled for 50km of range instead of 80km
- Wobbles a TON making it lose all its energy in a few seconds after the motor burns out.
- Has way higher drag than supposed to.
It struggles to hit an unaware target 30km away at altitude, it's ridiculous.
They need to fix it first. They can still nerf it later it if it's too strong.
It will be the same as the Magic II, it will have to perform at a lower level for 2 years until the gaijin lets the missile perform as it should
Essentially
because it was added before it should've been? Because if it performed as it should it would be an 'I win' button in 99% of use cases?
Or it will be like the 530D and it will never be at its full potential... The 530D in WT is horrible, it has no range and it loses a lot of energy when it doesn't burn anymore. You have to see the 530D in DCS to realize how Gaijin shit on this missile.
@@Clem76228 gaijin for real hate france
Yes but now you have the magic 2 being a beast but also being used down at 11.0 😢
2:20 No, the MICA has been designed for close range AND BVR, it replaces the S530 and the magic they are meant to be used in dogfights.
Which is funny because has far as I know it's the only new missile design for close range and capable to fire over the shoulder but in WT its the one that fail when asked to turn too much
Overall i think Gaijin need to refactor missiles, its was fine with fox 2 and fox1 but modern missiles with thrust vectoring and long range their is so much weird stuff like loss of controll, wobling, even tracking some time with "low" energy and it will become worth and worth with more recent missiles
So you get: a FOX 3 that has less range than counterparts, with thrust vectoring which is at best a niche gimmick and at worst unuseable making it miss shots that other missiles would hit... Nice combo
Essentially xD
stfu they'll fix it on release and you get your overpowered 50g missile you crybaby. It's not even update day and you're already upset about something that has no significance to the final build. You sound like Russian mains crying they don't have the best stuff at all time.
hows thrust vectoring is a simple gimmick? r73 is a great dogfighting missile, MICA's would work nicely in dogfights and worse than others at long ranges. it will get its thrust vectoring fixed after sometime, like 9M's with their seeker and r-73 with its tv too
@@kolecnik wdym, 9Ms seeker hasnt really be changed much.
The MICA is to be used in close and medium range engagements. It’s a dogfight missile.
The French were cooking with the MICA EM. Can't wait to get my greasy hands on it.
100% It's a fire missile!
I see a 90% miss on this game and in this video when the MICA EM have a 99% hit ratio irl
all I know is the mica has 50-60g overload irl and will be the most modern missile in the game
They reduced multipath effect down to 50m. I'm so happy.
LET'S GOOOOOOOOO. Is this actually true?
@@AeroTurtle there's a video in the forums that proves it
Unfortunately not enough. Maybe like 30m
@@bwhittv1446hey it’s a step in the right direction 🤷♂️
they'll probably do somethin about it, wasn't the r73 in a similiar situation on release day?
It was xD
Since they are realistically simulated they are probably trying to intercept a point that requires a lot of turning which then causes it to over turn and gets stuck in a loop as you see in the video a few times, they'll probably adjust the PID values to fix it.
@@MrNPC "realistically simulated"
@@MrNPC I hope so!!!
The R-73 is in a similar situation even rn after almost a year since it was released (I mean it is definitely in a better state but still in 5/10 high off-bore shots it enters a spin, especially at lower speed)
Opening bit had me screaming USE YOUR BLOODY GUNS!
Missile only test xD
@@AeroTurtle imagine they added HMD slaved TWS
Look we are approaching the era of missiles that practically don’t miss unless they straight up didn’t track or you min/max their effective range.
It’s my opinion that gaijin is going to have to just rip the bandaid off on some of this stuff otherwise it will never come to the game.
We are going to experience a few things being way too overpowered for a bit before more variety is added. And then once again another big leap will happen.
I think in this leap, radar missiles are going to be really strong compared to the IR missiles we have in game.
Practicing in the dev server I’m debating on if taking 2 9M’s on my American vehicles are even worth it. Half of the time, the situations I use them in, they miss. They don’t have the energy, or the ability to turn like I need them to. Versus the AMRAAM which only has the downside of being defeated by the ground. If I can fly my plane in a certain way, and force my dogfighting opponent off of the ground, the Fox-3 ends up killing better and faster.
The only missile that I can think of that will remain competitive is the R-73 with its off bore capability.
Though this is all based on my time in the dev. Perhaps it will be easier to get kills with sidewinders in the live server.
And on a side note, I’m impressed you can manage to get radar locks with the HMD. My HMD radar never works in the dev. And it forces me into situations I don’t prefer since I’m spamming my lock button and cycling modes trying to get my radar to function like it does on the live server.
Yeah this is really true. I could see war thunder going in this direction. Force players to adapt. Also HMD typically doesn't work for me either, but in those dogfights it was doing wonders.
They either do it right, gameplay will adapt and players will get better. Or they do it wrong and waste theirs and everyone else’s time with a broken mess that they may as well have left out entirely. No in between. BVR is not a difficult concept to learn. It just seems to me many would prefer things stay the same rather than have to learn to play differently.
@@dwright_origins5157 most people are afraid of change even if it’s good.
You sort of have to force it on them, and let them realize themselves that it was a good change.
@@AeroTurtle this just in, looks like they nerfed multipathing from 100m to 50m.
So yea I might just rock AMRAAMs
@@corybrown2197 Oh hell yeah!!!
Lets not forget that mica isn't truly a fox 3.
Its actually a fox 2 on steroïd with a fox 3 range and trust vectoring 💀💀💀💀
real and true
Thrust vector not put to use is a crime.
100%
About the range, MICA have 80 km max launch range like other fox 3 in that game, but gaijin nerf it 😥. (Max range interception with MICA was made in 1998 at 67 km during taiwanese tests of MICA, but it's impossible to find a source acceptable by gaijin about that)
because intercept range means nothing......... you do understand so many variables effect a missiles range right. altitude, air temperature, loft parameters, was the enemy aircraft maneuvering or flying towards or away. its the same reason why AIM54s have something like 110km range but this was only ever against slow moving targets IRL and even then couldnt be fully confirmed.
Gaijin trying to nerf it fr fr
@@123TheCloop maybe that why I write max intercepte range and not only intercepte range... Max intercepte range is with a play at high altitude flying at Mach 2.
In all case, MICA are exploding after doing 50 km because of Gaijin, and it's very difficult to make them have a range of 50 km because they wooble
@@123TheCloop Funny you'd say that.
Software simulations I programmed say MICA can reach 80km of range if modeled correctly.
BTW that same simulation says AIM-54 can reach a target 110km away right before it runs out of battery when launched at mach 1 at 12km altitude.
@@123TheCloop It doesn't change anything as long as the others are 80km max... After yes, the maximum ranges of missiles are mostly at very high altitude and high speed, but that's for all missiles. Shooting an aim120a at 3000 feet at Mach 0.8 on a target at 40km and 10,000 feet and it will never have the energy to go and get it, it's obvious. But as I said before, it doesn't change the fact that irl, the MICA has a range of 80 km and that on WT, it is nerfed at 50...
The bug, you mention, isn't really a bug. Thats when the missles thrust vectoring is to strong so the missle just spins out. Same problem is found on the r77 and r73 because of it.
I actually find this great, it looks hella funny.
It's a bug my guy
Too strong chaff is much better than too strong multipathing I guess. At least it requires attention, it's limited and doesn't punish you for flying an aicraft as intended
I agree
i'd much rather my missile not hit because it got spoofed by chaff then the game saying he flew too low so your missile just didn't track, thing is that you can completely circumvent multipathing by just unlocking like .2-5 seconds before the missile hits depending on angle
Bruh I thought HMD was supposed to work like ACM where you just put the box over them and get a look. I didn't realize you also have to press the radar lock button. I was wondering why HMD never worked. I thought it was useless.
Ngl I found out on the dev server xD I always assumed it didn't work too.
the intro lmao
xDDDD
its a 50g missile, i hate to say it but its less of a sort the stats, yes decompress the brs, and you know, figure out how to engage said missile
Aim-120A I know is a Short to medium range missile and the R77 is a medium to long range missile DCS I do the same thing and DCS doesnt care about balance DCS cares about realistic results no water down BS like Warthunder
flying dorito final boss
It won't end well
Hello my turtle friend, i just wanted to know about your car's extended warranty.
OH NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
In your video where you’re missing, is because you’re too damn close to the targets. Not sure if Gaijin designed it that way but in real life there is a minimum launch distance for most fox 3 missiles. Typically it’s within 3-5 nm , and your missile will not track.
That's the whole point of the video. The missiles shouldn't be spinning out. No matter how close I am
