2 things I would add is to beforehand remove pressure from system by cracking open oil fill cap or completely removing it, as well as dipstick. It’ll help oil drain faster and freely, and less residual oil will remain in filter and housing when removed. Also, to replace the crush washer on drain plug bolt. It’s theoretically one time use since it flattens to seal when you torque bolt down.
Great guide thanks, just picked 2014 RVR and soon will be doing oil change If I could make a couple recommendations, remove oil dipstick completely before draining oil along with fill cap as will drain quicker. Also when getting new filter ready due to position filter sits in motor I always fill the filter with new oil using center hole in filter. May take a couple fills to allow oil to settle in but auto shop teacher told us all oil in pan has to go through filter before going to critical parts on engine. Saves that one-two seconds of waiting for oil to pump to critical areas.
Great Video! The only thing I would add is that you probably don't need the tool for the filter. if you have a decent grip you can take it out by hand no issues
Good question. We asked auto zone to look at their book to see the oil for the car. That's what they said was recommended. Usually it would say on the oil cap, but this car doesn't show it. If your oil cap says 5W-30 then you should use it.
Nice video! One thing I would suggest is to replace the crush washer on the drain plug. Yours looked like it was mangled and may cause a leak in the future. Here’s my experience: ua-cam.com/video/v3euQZWja-c/v-deo.html

Good advice but with my butter finger hands, the filter has slipped from my hands before & if filled with oil...what a mess .
great video. Jiffy Lube just lost a customer of 22 years. i'll be doing my own oil changes from here on out!
Thank you and thanks for the visit. Yes I bet you'll do a better job than them.

Why the oil 0W-20 instead of 5W-30?

Good idea for the next time.
Crush washer are suppose to be one time use only. Should be replace every time you change your oil
