I'M BUILDING A MONSTER TRUCK!!!

- Опубліковано 18 жов 2024
- I've been wanting to turn this wrecked old truck into a monster truck!!! a truggy, a rock crawler!! A custom fabricated off roading machine!!! It's been a long time of planning and I'm ready to start the build. With a pile of parts, a place to build it (sort of) and a lot of ambition, I'm ready to get to work!!!
Building this monster truck won't be easy. I'm lacking a lot of experience necessary to complete this project so i'm lookin to you for any input or help you can offer up!
Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss a future video and be sure and leave a comment with any feedback you may have!
Wow you guys, thank you all for the support, this has been a big undertaking and I'm stoked to tackle this build and bring you along!!! Lots of exciting stuff to come-- we're hoping to post every Sunday so be sure to subscribe and turn on notifications! Let's do this!!!
Trent, you're your usual charming, funny self. However, having watched the post, I've discovered I am not interested in vehicles in the slightest. So, I won't be watching Trents Garage going forward but will continue to watch Trent & Allie as usual. I love what you guys post and what you're doing so I'm glad that you've added the truck side of things separately. 🥰
I'm super excited to see what shenanigans he gets into on here! However, something that I learned from a few other UA-camrs who started using multiple channels is that you need to make sure that you don't post the same thing on both or it will think you are copywriting, even if it is your own work. But as long as Allie is doing the editing I know all will be well because she is amazing!
Good luck with this channel, Trent! As they say in Hockey, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take! ;-)
I love trucks, when we did our homesteading days that’s what we run, Trucks, 4wheelers, threewheelers, mud bikes, and Atco Mud boggers, but I digress. We had an old Ford Bronco with giant mud tires on it… anyway that’s a vehicle I learned to drive in the 1982, 1983… she was a bit of a gas hog, but we could take it up the mountains, and in Alaska, it’s a mountain, not a hill… lol so I will be checking your channel out.. and maybe my old school mechanic awesome spouse might just chime in.. Just a quick piece of advice, you all might wanna add Trent’s Channel to that part of your other page under the Channels tab, instead where you all said where’d you put it, because it wasn’t there. So I had use the magnifying glass 🔍 and it was a bit confusing, anyway-and you will be slightly more smoother in the delivery. Just a suggestion…

👍🤩I gotta get caught up. 🤩💝
“This is not a ‘how-to’ channel…. this is a… ‘this is how I’m going to do it’ channel” 😂😂😂 attaboy Trent. I’m here for it 👊
hahaha gotta keep it real 🤣
72yr old female watching build of monster truck! I miss my truck so much❤ Go Trent! Live our dreams
I’m a 72 year old grandmother of 5 and I will follow you on this channel. WHY you may ask, well it’s cause I love you guys, so I guess I’m gonna learn a lot about trucks and mechanical stuff.
I am a 75 yr old grandmother! 4 Kids and 15 Grands 🥰 I am loving this new channel!
I'm a 67 year old grandma of 4 transplanted from Alaska to Utah. This family has a lot of "old folks" that love and support them!
56 year old grandmother of 3. Grandma's unite!
66yo grammie with 6 grandbabies here in PA 💗
I know! Me too! It never hurts to learn new things. Who knows when we're going to need it!
At 9:23 the truth is revealed and the look on Trent's' face when Allie calls him out on the new Welder and Plasma cutter...Priceless... I'm a T&A Patron and have followed you guys for years, love the content and it's great to see Trent get after this project. Good luck and git er dun!
Yep! He sure took a big gulp 🤣
This is a convo my husband and I have with his new tools. 😂
Yes I think it is Allies turn to buy a new toy, A tool yes a tool.
09:27 that gulp when Trent realizes what he said, and that he’s been caught… 🤣🤣🤣
Tips: The mess on the front of your engine(or anywhere) Lay you down a tarp, put your drain pan under it. Get you a parts cleaning brush, a bucket of diesel, and go to swabbing it on the gunk. Diesel, Kero, dissolves that stuff better(and cheaper) than any spray stuff you can buy!
Tip 2, That big hex plug(allen) not many people have a Allen wrench to fit it, but,... you can find a bolt, most likely a metric bolt, that will fit inside of it snug. Run a nut up on the bolt all the way, cut off the excess thread, weld the nut to the bolt, you now have a Allen socket(if you didn't weld too much of the nut on the outside, If you did, you can use a grinder to clean it up, or use a wrench on it. When finished, throw it into your tool box in a place for homemade tools,...You'll need it again in 10 years or so, or, may be not.
Tip 3. Those roll around carts, are just not all tat. I "collected" 2 old office chairs, from the dumping place, took the arms off of them, they roll better, and, I can adjust the height, and even when working under the truck, You can raise it up to a comfortable height, and make it easier on your back. Why Two, I have one for each side of my lift.
Tip 4. Supporting your engine,;... If you have some block(I'd use 12 or 14" block, ) Make a stack on both sides of your engine. Get you some 2" pipe, and the next size smaller (I'm not a plumber so not sure what size that is) sleeve the bigger pipe with the smaller pipe. Get you two small cheap hydraulic jacks, cut two pieces of the smaller tube, like 1" pieces, Weld them parallel to each other, for the top of the jack to go into Put some boards on top of the blocks, put a 2X on each side of it, so boards on top of block are attached to each other, and, the jack is sandwiched in. (to keep it stable) Have everything high enough to attach a chain to your engine. Now you have a way to support your engine, and by jacking either side, you can adjust the engine to level it, and to move it side to side to wedge it on either side.
So glad you got the Atlas 4 speed, That's what I have. When you build your mounts for your trans and t=case, attach them to the fram and not the skid, that way you can remove the whole skid, to have access to anything you may need to work on. Also, get really good drive shafts, I have .25 wall, and have had zero issues. On your drive shafts, I suggest getting forged steel yokes, not cast steel. I think I am gonna love your new channel!
Good advice. Brilliant idea - two height adjustable office chairs on each side ... Excellent!!! Didn't think of that one. And, I have two chairs like that! I like your advice on your other comment about making sure the engine is securely supported before releasing all the engine mount supports!!! I was thinking he would have to go buy the triangle engine remover, with chains. This will cost less, I think. After all, he did spend money on the plasma cutter, which he clearly needs. Sorry Ali, I'm on Trent's side on this one.
Hi guys, again 😀
Check out van city van life, if you haven’t already.
Set in Canada, Chrome is living full time in his van / 5 years now, & has recently in the last year taken on a work shop,& doing s complete refurb on an old ambulance he’s got hold of.
He’s taken the engine right out,& dealt with it separately, love the colour he’s painted it, after much preparation 👍😊
Colin UK
Laughed out loud when Allie reacted to the "plasma cutter" sentence! Love you guy's honesty! It's sooooooo refreshing!😇🤣🥰
Proud of you both for the great job you've done over the years on your "Trent&Allie" channel! Now Trent has his own channel! Way to go, Trent! Keep up the good work!
Not a truck person but have enjoyed watching trent and allie. So same as everyone else. I'm going to learn about trucks.
I’m an elementary school teacher and know absolutely NOTHING about vehicles but I was just captivated watching this. I have been following Trent and Allie since the BMX days. I think I’d watch y’all doing anything you came up with. Keep putting out great content like you have been and they will come 👍
me too, been here for a long time, got into a wheelchair ( stroke ) 4.0 years ago, been on recovering with rehab and utube. *3 years young and still building on my house, and my classic road racing motorcycle ( in my bedroom ) can't walk yet.
I’m 61 years old grandma and I love any content you guys put out. I just subscribe.
Next thing you know, Leo will have his own channel!
I feel like I've watched T&A grow up since leaving South America..... I feel so old! 😂
Congrats Trent on the new channel! I'm not into mechanics but I'll still watch and spread the word to others.
Then, imagine this one. Allie having her own channel as well. And all channels feature Branden in multiple videos, LOL.
I have been working on cars since I was 9 with my Dad. I saved my Dad's life. Back in day. His hands got stuck in the coil springs. And lifted the side of the car with my body. (I was a big girl) From that day I was his assistant. Love your videos. Brings back memories. Thank you! Keep on showing more.
I’m not into trucks but this will be fun to see what he does with this. Will Brandon be helping him with this project? Nice filming Allie!
I’m not into trucks either but love T&A’s main channel so maybe Trent can teach me a thing or two (even if it’s not technically a how to lol)
I'm sure we'll have lots of different friends dropping in to help, Branden included!!
Was this filmed in English? Lol. This is all kinds of new terminology. Trent very impressed. Congratulations on the new channel.
Congrats, as a long live subscriber of Trent and Allie (😂) I have a request, can you explain a little more to people who likes seen you build but have not knowledge of mechanics at all? Naaa you explain it plenty😂. A little tip, never tell the wife how much money you “dedicates “ to the car🤪. Let’s take us on another new adventure!
@@artcuriousbymnw I just came to the comments to say the same thing. Never EVER mention new tools, or how much parts cost, when your wife is around lmao ... it'll make your life much easier Trent hahah (Sorry Allie) ;0)
Great, more of you all to watch. you guys are part of my Family.
Your doing great, you have your hand full, husband, dad, business owner, building your garage and now rebuilding your Toyota monster truck and I’m sure that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Love watching your all your content.
My husband is going to love this channel
Trent loves working on trucks and cars -
This rings true for most mechanics since they love everything about cars and trucks from the way they look to the way they feel and drive. Making repairs to a vehicle is also exciting as you know you are accomplishing it with your own two hands. GO TRENT !
My son re-built a truck this year, and he pulled the engine out and got it all cleaned up. He had it sitting on a motor stand until he was ready for it. He took a 1991 blazer and put a lift kit on it. It’s done now and is an off road dream. It’s so high off the ground that I need a ladder to climb it. He has so many toys in this thing like TV monitors, GPS navigation and things I know nothing about! But it’s pretty! Fire engine red and huge tires. The inside has been all decked out and has everything but the kitchen sink! He’s a master with computers and computer programs. His truck built was to reduce stress, just fun for him. I’m 69 and this year will be 70. I just enjoy this. Just wanted to say drop the engine! I really enjoy your other channel too!
As a guy who does what he can with what he has in his own garage, I appreciate you.
You’ve come so far. I remember your van life days.
God bless your family. ❤❤❤❤❤🙏
This is going to be a fun project to follow. One suggestion: maybe get a tripod lamp so the areas you’re working on are better lit for viewers to more easily see exactly what you’re doing. Thanks for bringing us along.
I’m 69, love my 2013 Tacoma and very much looking forward to watching your build. 👍
Something(s) I forgot to mention below when I wrote you a book, so .. When you build your frame, one thing to remember is straight runs of tube are stronger than bent ones. More triangulation is needed when you bend tube. Also you can, if you want to, use rectangle tube instead of round. You can buy tube ends that you weld in for any open tube ends. And, That's not a monster truck, it is a rock crawler! ;)
allways figured that round tube had more inherent strength thats why they build cranes using round tube
Trent, take all the metal scrap to a metal recycling place. That way you can get a chunk of change. Watching you reminds me of watching my brothers and handing them tools. That was back before vehicles had computers. Best of luck. Love Grandma ❣️
keep up the good job Trent, it's good to have such a professional camera lady like Allie
Trent if you are on every day I will be glued to the screen , love cars and trucks and you are very lucky to be able to do this . All the best
Finally building the truck! I know you don’t want to pull the engine / drivetrain but I think in the long run it’s gonna really benefit you to have it out.
Yeah, you’re probably right!
That is probably the easiest way of supporting the engine - remove it and use an engine hoist
Agreed. Having it pulled out and clear of your work area when you build the tube frame is ideal. The different angles you'll need access to weld the frame will benefit you in a better weld and stronger joints. For the things you'll put this truck through no doubt you need a well built frame and good strong welds.
In NHRA drag racing we always remove engine/trans in one piece, utilizing a removable front clip and engine hoist. There are chain slings available to bolt to the engine, with a ratchet-point to tilt the assembly. For greasy hands there are products like “invisible glove” that help. Coat hands before work. I found that automatic transmission fluid worked better than GO-JO for cleaning up afterwards. Please use solid metal motor supports.
@@donscott6431 I second the invisible glove and trany fluid for clean up.
T&A have been one of my favorite channels since they were in Mexico heading south.
The truck channel will be great!!!
I'm 60 yo woman that will learn to drive in 2023. I'm here to learn whatever I can. I really enjoy the snow driving lessons and rescues. I'm taking notes to learn all the car/truck parts.
Hey Trent. The comment, and probably look, that Allie gave you when you said you bought a new welder and plasma cutter never ends. I’m 62 and wife does the same thing when I tell her I bought the new tool to fix or build something. 😊
I can only imagine haha
Hey Trent, I'm no truck guy but still looking forward to following your progress alongside the main T&A channel. I always think UA-cam content is as much about the people, as the subject and you guys are great to watch.
As a viewer, could I suggest a bit of lighting under the truck, so we can see what's going on a bit better...good luck with the build!
I just watch your first video! I have worked on vehicles for 60 years ( my own ) basically changing old cars swaping parts etc. My suggestion would be pull that engine out before you continue, cutting anymore frame. Also where is your safety equipment. Fire extinguisher, eye was stuff etc. Safety first always. Don't do things to just get likes. Be safe for your family. Always be safe!
58yr "young" grandma and Existing subscriber of Trent and Allie here! And OFCOARSE I subscribed here!😉😂👍🏻💪🏻😤💕
I’m in. Know nothing about trucks but I love to watch Trent and his problem solving process. Leo is a lucky boy with a father having so many skills. Allie you are the perfect partner; creative, supportive, intelligent and beautiful!
Trent! Your big gulp when Allie called you out about your new plasma thingymabob and welding whatchamacallit was priceless 🤣
🙃
Supporting the motor: I've seen guys who fabricate frames mock it up in wood first to get the angles right, then build it in metal. I've seen guys make wooden supports for the motor. I would think the best and easiest way to do it would be to suspend it from above. A cherry picker would be in your way, but as another person suggested, a hoist from above would do the trick and free up the space under the motor, so you're not having to work around any support structure.
24,000 subscribers!!!!! Yea! This should be a huge success
This channel is gonna be a big hit. Trent and Allie video just came out the lesson 20 minutes ago and you announced it I clicked right on and subscribed but so did 28,000 other people. Many may drop but not me. I think it was a good idea for sure. Love you guys keep it up.
cool profile name!
Ok I'm excited for when that monster truck is up and running, racing and winning! You BETTER record that guys!!
Great first video guys. If you're going to put in a different trans and will be putting a new clutch and most likely a flywheel I would pull the engine. It will be much easier to have it out of the way for building the new frame. Then you can also get the engine out of the shop and clean it. I know lighting is hard with automotive videos, But better lighting would help. Looking forward to your next video. Now back to watching Trent and Allie.
The easiest way to do what you want with the frame is pull the engine and trans, build your framework, the hang the engine/trans back in the hole to make the motor mounts. The only way I can think to support that engine without taking it out is take the hood off, and hang it from your engine hoist in place, not the safelist option as you would be working beneath a hanging load (big no no in all the safety manuals. Glad to see this project finally getting started, all the luck to you!
This is great and done just as well as your other channel. My only advice would be to add some lighting under the truck so we can get a better look at him busting his knuckles in the winter months... :)
I would pull the engine 100%. To keep everything safe
Hey Trent, just here to support. Not into monster trucks but wishing you total success with the channel.
🎉 Trent’s Garage, excellent!!!
I have done extreme basic car stuff, like thermostat, starters, tune-ups, but love watching you work. I'm a loyal Trent & Allie watcher and have subscribed now to Trent's Garage.
Laughed so hard when you told in yourself about your shop toys and Allie squeaked your name. You two are the cutest ever!!
Congrats on the new channel, Im in!!
Thank you!! So stoked to have you on this channel too!! 😊
L. Merrick. This old gramma says Good for you' I can learn even more from your adventures now. I realize ALLIE IS HOLDING THE CAMERA, SO SHE'S BUSY TOO. CONGRATS.
Have been a follower of Trent & Allie since you were living in your van. Excited for your new adventure. Since the frame is such a crucial part of the stability of your build, and you are remanufacturing it, not having the motor & drivetrain out of the way could jeopardize your ability to ensure the frame is solid, straight and will withstand the punishment it gets on your off road adventures. Give yourself the best chance to get it right. It would also make access to the motor & drivetrain so much easier in order to check them over, clean and repair or upgrade any parts. If you are dead set on not removing them and your ceiling joists are strong enough, using a block and tackle system vs a cherry picker would free up floor space and wouldn't interfere with your points of access around your build. Looking forward to seeing you fulfill your dream!
I came over here to watch you build the monster truck, Trent💜🙏🏽🦋
Hey Trent, I'm excited for the build, and having done a frame off restoration of my CJ-7 I would strongly suggest that you pull the motor and leave it on a stand while you do the frame work...make your life easier! oh, and super jealous of the tool haul, lift included!
😎🤘🏼
You built your house. I'm sure you will build this Monster Truck. Go for it.
Ok. You want input. I’m probably going to sound like a dad (old). If Allie is recording while you weld or plasma cut I hope she has eye protection. Also the dogs can get retinal burns too so they should stay outside. Definitely put a box fan by your side door for temporary ventilation. Love you guys and you need to be around a long time for Leo❤️❤️❤️ PS I sent an Amazon link for an overhead gantry that will support your engine. I probably sent it to the wrong channel. Can’t wait to see the truck transform 😊👍
Really like the box fan idea! Only problem is it’s freezing outside haha
And the dogs are not allowed in the shop while I’m cutting or welding. Also I’ve I trusted Allie never to look into the light (when welding or plasma curing) haha the camera can look without protection 🙃
Hi Trent….Here I am one of your biggest TA fans and now here I am going to be learning about truck rebuilding!
So now I know a lot about building a house and a garage and now I’m going to see how to rebuild trucks!
Oh dear God…WHO knew I would ever be doing this….but I’m retired so WHY NOT?! 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Super excited to use my time watching a vlog that has amazing content. You and your family have created wholesome and meaningful videos for the followers. It is refreshing to see your enthusiasm. It is even better to see the outcome of all your hard work. Congrats on new channel. I can’t wait for the first “ride along video”🙌🏻🙌🏻

Trent, you are a man of many talents!
Regular Trent and Ally viewer abd am so pumped we got Trent’s Garage! Can’t wait to see the truck build
Thanks for coming over!! Stoked to have you!
Trent, my son and I restored a 1972 Ford Mustang and installed a new Ford Coyote 5.0 engine. We started with nothing in front of the firewall except two frame rails sticking out. To allow for fabrication and the room for fitting. adjusting and welding, that motor was in and out of the car at least 20 times. I suggest you just pull the motor and have it hanging from the engine crane. Love you guys and really enjoy your content.
This will be a great channel and I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on the truck. Make sure that Frank and Lika are included. As much as I enjoy you guys, I actually watch for the dogs!!!! And Leo should be helping too!
I love the dogs I keep telling them to get them jackets but they don't listen
Trent 30 years ago I was a welder and diesel mechanic in the coal fields of Kentucky. You may have already done this but if you haven’t consider removing the gas line and tank. Back in the day one of the guys I worked with set a truck on fire welding on it but luckily no one was hurt but the truck was lost. I’ve never done a build like this but we always had something directly under anything we worked underneath. You should also consider some other supports attached to the frame by the lift in case the truck shifts on the lift. With all this being said my wife Lori and I want you all to know that we look forward to watching your and Allies channel every week and have subscribed to this channel and are looking forward to your all’s next adventures. 👍
Thanks for the tips Randy!
I know absolutely nothing about vehicles but have followed you and Allie for years! Love supporting whatever either of you do!
Thank you Mary, your support means the world to us!!
Love from California.
One thing I haven’t noticed anyone point out yet, you should clamp or even weld bolt on contact points to your lift. As you start removing parts especially heavy parts the weight balance will shift dangerously and can even fall on you while your working on it, something to keep in mind.
Get plenty of welding blankets, they’re great for shielding sparks from flammable sources and aside from a fire extinguisher they’re great for putting out small fires. I’m always down for a safety meeting 💨😉 Let’s Go!
I do need some welding blankets! You’re right!
You should get some tall adjustable jack stands. one more thing SAFETY first !!
Great to see a second channel. LOL !!! Busted!!! Allie first heard you bought new equipment for just this build and your reaction is priceless.
Hey Trent. Congratulations on the new channel. I'm looking forward to the content. As a Trent and Allie watcher and massive gear head, I now have another channel of content to scratch my off-roading itch. Hope we see Brandon helping out too. Cheers.
Trent's smiles say it all !!!!
I have been hooked on Trent & Allie for quite a while now, so Trent's Garage will be icing on the cake for me!! Love from Tennessee.
Me too???
This is awesome Trent... I'm a tom boy .. I love working on trucks before or cars .. Lol
I would watch anything with Trent or Allie and Brandon! Excellent video. Really enjoyed sharing in your excitement Trent. This will be another great channel. Thanks and the best to you.
Pulling out the motor and drive train is the best way to go
Just finished watching Trent and Allie and here I am!! I actually have my first year of mechanics under my belt. I won't be able to hold any further as I got sick which killed my dreams!! So I'm gonna live vicariously through you!! Lol ❤🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤
sending prayer for restored health and dreams!
Strongly suggest you invest in a bunch of fire extinguishers if you're going to be cutting with a plasma around a bunch of greasy parts
Congratulations on the new channel, Trent! I am here for it. My husband has been doing projects like this all his life. He is now 62 and still does it. He will absolutely love this channel as well. Wishing you every success on this new adventure. ☺ Helen (from Nova Scotia, Canada).

@@eastcoastpikachu No, you are not the only one! ☺
I am here for the Nickel Back Covers!!!!
I would also follow you guys anywhere! Congratulations
Good to see you did this channel, love Trent and Allie. If your hard against taking out the engine, put the engine crane on it and support it that way. But my advice as a fabricator is to remove all the front area. It can be done, but you have to be pretty confident in what your doing, and have a plan on how your going to reinstate the rails in situe. I'm not doubting your ability one bit, cos I no your a chief, but definitely make a well thought out plan of how you intend to keep everything in line and at the correct angle etc,etc bla bla bla. You got this, go get some big boy, and have a ball doing it. Cheers from Melbourne Australi. Mick
I’m super excited, I would have watched in either channel.
Well, it's really great to see Trent working on a passion project, like this one. ...something fun and just-for-kicks, so to speak.
He certainly is a "Doer."
Implementing his dreams through hard work.

Hey, Allie - that plasma cutter will come in handy for so many projects!! You guys need a handcrafted burn barrel (fire pit) and a plasma cutter is a creative tool!! Wish I had one.
Yeah I’m so stoked to have one! It works flawlessly

the chineese websites sell those plasma cutters for verry little money you need a compressor too and the cut40 type plasma cutter whill not cut verry thick material verry fast , its enough for the diy person cutting up oil barrels though
I have helped my son and my ex work on cars and trucks. I will be watching this rebuild. I'm a 72 year old mom of 3 and Mimi to 6 and great Gramma to 3. (Lol, I saw other "old ladies" here too)
My son uses a jack with 2-bys to hold parts of the vehicle in place while he's working. Also the jack stands that lock in place. Don't know if that helps for the motor tho.
Good luck cleaning that gunk off everything.
