Imagine ordering three tacos, being served four and told to only eat the three you ordered, then having to sit there while the cook/server/human inserter WATCHES you to make SURE you don't eat the other taco.
Oh my god no wonder it felt so familiar. Been playing Balatro recently, and Plate Up quite a while back. The music felt so familiar and I never made the connection until I read your comment.
Ok so, this just reminded me of one of my friends who plays way too much plate up who _completely_ automated burgers (iirc), but the funny thing is that he got a bunch of extra customer modifiers, so before he ended the run manually, a single day lasted OVER AN HOUR because customers kept arriving faster than they left.
I may be stupid but I would unironically eat at a restaurant where I can see the tacos being fully machine-made. Like dude the tacos are the same, AND I can see how they are made? I'd love it. Also, the idea of 'there is only one thing we sell here, you cannot customise it, but it is cheap, fast, healthy and tasty' sounds awesome in concept. If I actually like the taste I'd be willing to literally donate to the restaurant
cheap, fast, healthy and tasty used to be how automat restaurants worked, but sadly the rise of urban sprawl and the weirdly niche issue of vending tech not able to accept dollar bills killed them while fast food ate their market share. they're coming back in some places now tho, now that paying waiters is costing more and contactless pay is way more accessible.
@@wyselnautomat doesn't work so well for hot food, but that's something that can be corrected. Vending machines in Japan can vend hot items on demand but in a more single-serve way. The thing that will kill it before it takes off will be greed, naturally.
The closest thing I can imagine to that in America is the Costco food court. They only have a couple food options with zero customization. Everything is made with as little human input as possible, made exactly the same way every time, and is about as cheap as it comes. Aside from the sandwiches, it’s about as automated as we have right now.
@@Hawk7886 you and me both, I loved Taco Bell since before I was born, when my mother was pregnant with me that's all she wanted for like a week straight.

"Do you think this would be a good business model?" At 36:00 I would certainly be cool with a taco joit like this, run in grab a few tacos for the road and keep on trucking!
I just started watching your channel this week but i binged your entire space exploration series and then decided to watch this and i really enjoy your content. Sorry if this seemed like a weird first comment i just know some creators get worried they'll garner a fanbase that only enjoys one game and i was trying to preemptively explain that i think your content would be good no matter what.

Great restaurant! Just a quick tip about priority for this game too is pulling always has priority so if you wanted the fresh tacos to have priority you would just have to put a grabber connected to the smart grabber
you could have used the teleporter to offset the incoming tacos by 1 conveyor belt so they mix nicly on the mail belt (now you are just loading 1 side, if you go on the other interval (other side of belt) you can have close to max throughput (untested))
36:05 this is a type of taco in mexico called a taco the canasta, just a tortilla with meat, or potato and beans, and you pay 5-10 pesos for it depending on the area, of course it's not in a restaurant, it's on the street and the man has a basket that he uses to carry them
I heard about a place from a couple of co-workers who were deployed in East Asia, i can't remember the country. It was this little cinder block building with a tiny window in the front. There was no conversation with the workers, no ordering per se. You give them 1 dollar (American dollars, that is) and they give you a taco. Five dollars, five tacos. No indication what was in them, but by all accounts they were delicious.
A trick i use is to combine back, and have smart grabbers shortcut return the trays (2 tray stands), easily handles 6 tables pretty late into a franchise. (OT 20 so far and need to see how far it goes.) I might have to start to teleport trays midway through the line.
I can see an optimisation you could do. Swap the grabber under the eat enjoy eat eat with the unused conveyor, and put the trays in the kitchen above the auto ones, and pull the trays into the auto system. Then you can corner grab from the tortillas to the waiting tray that you then put meat on.
you can move the cranes yith your computer mouse. thats so much faster than with wasd. i dont know if you do this right now aktually but it looks so like when you move they with wasd
The never before seen factorio plateup setup *also you guys missing a portioner was pain obviously, no trays on tables = no tray or too many taco problems*

You’ve basically invented a revolving sushi bar, but for tacos
That sounds dope
Except that sushi bars that have rotating belts are a real thing in life just not a common thing

Imagine ordering three tacos, being served four and told to only eat the three you ordered, then having to sit there while the cook/server/human inserter WATCHES you to make SURE you don't eat the other taco.
And then looking on in horror as your remaining taco goes along a belt to be eaten by another patron.
"2013 prices" caused me emotional pain I didn't know I could experience.
The Balatro music makes me think I got the game running in the background

That’s exactly what I was thinking
Oh wait I thought it was risk of rain 2 music. Sounds quite similar

Thanks youtube for recommending this video, i love automation. And i love plateup.
I realized at about 29:00 that you had effectively made Sushi Revolution, but with tacos.
this is the most meta automation ive seen. this could be 100% fully automated. its insane
23:25 Easy fix is using the 90 grabber on the bottom line and pointing the normal conveyor into the kitchen for the empty trays
Taco sushi belt let's go. Now we just need a taco bus
