    One tip for you, put a barrel swivel above your lure so the spoon isn’t spinning in circles at rest. I like to put it 1.5 - 2 feet above the lure.

    I don't know why, but I love being on the ice and enjoying a squal in my wheel house. Furnace keeps me warm, doing one of my favorite activities, watching the snow whip through the windows. my hands are pretty beat from being a mechanic/ fabricator and the cold hurts or I would hit the early ice and do more tent fishing. Hats of to you for getting in a good bite in that weather! can't wait for winter 2023/2024 ice fishing.

    I caught the largest northern pike of my life on a launch out of Garrison on Mille Lacs probably 15 years ago. We were fishing with bobbers using huge suckers... they must have been 12 inches long. I didn't get a weight, but it was 42 inches long.... so probably over 20 lbs. There are some giants in that lake!!

    Nice underwater video. What camera are you using? Know a lake here with some huge pike,Buddy had one he lost not sure it would've fit thru 8" hole as head filled the hole as swam under thru it before breaking/bitting off.Curious you ever been to the ultimatefishingshow?

    Shouldn't you ditch the jig when a pike comes through? I could be wrong because I've never ice fished before but it just seems like a distraction from what he's really after. Drawing them in with the flash and exciting the perch works great but when he's there I'd pull it out and work the sucker.

    Why do you leave door open with heater on? Loose less heat and shelter would be more rigid with door zipped up so air flow doesn't get inside shelter.

    • @BryanProkuski
      @BryanProkuski  2 роки тому +1

      oh man. I had to go back and forth to tighten the outside straps every few minutes Which you didn't see in the video. At that point zipper was froze and I just left it open to go out and in. It was nuts out there. No need for that again. If I could of set that shack up properly on all sides before it got windy be a different story.

    Great camera footage. I'm not a perch expert but I've been told many times: "If you're on a school of smaller perch move on" In other words the dinks like to school up together, larger perch travel and school in smaller groups.

      Biggest myth in ice fishing!!! While bluegills may sit on bottom during a bad cold front, perch are active feeders, and when hungry will fight each other for the bait!!!! That's how we approach it, if it's a bad front, we'll go for perch, instead of gills or crappies......
