Im trying to do this on my back patio but the way the holes are configured on the wall mount has me drilling within half inch of the edge of the brick and that really makes me nervous of cracking. The lag bolts it comes with are large. Directions say to drill three 3/8” holes 2.8” deep then insert the concrete anchors then the lag bolts. I’m really nervous about the whole thing honestly, I don’t want to destroy a brick and have a costly repair.
It's better to have a couple in the center of the bricks with 2 in the mortar than all 4 on the edges of the bricks. If the mount can't be moved slightly so at least some of the upper anchors are in the center of bricks, I would get a new mount. Alternatively, tapcon concrete screws require much smaller size holes than the lag bolts with plastic anchors. If the mount has extra slots, you can add extra concrete screws, even if you go with the lag bolts for the main anchors.
@@toolsandrepairs - so after thinking about it, I’m not going to use the hardware they gave me at all….3/8” is a massive hole and I don’t feel comfortable doing it. So what I’m going to do is downsize and use 1/4” tapcon screws with washers to mount it. The tapcon box says to use a 3/16 masonry bit for the pilot hole if using 1/4” screws….3/16 is WAY smaller then 3/8” and it’ll make me feel a lot better about it and not worry so much about cracking the brick. The only thing I’m unsure of now is if I should use 2 1/4” length tapcon screw or 1 3/4”? What do you think? The TV is a 43” I can’t imagine it weighs more then 20 pounds. What do you think man? Sound like a good plan?
@@greeneyesfromohio4103 I agree, brick is way too dense and it would take forever to drill 4 deep 3/8 holes, where as 4 3/16" holes is much easier, quicker, with less dust. 1 3/4" is fine, needs at least 1" embedment and the mount is only about 1/8" thick, longer screws is stronger, but too long and you may go through the brick, making it weaker
It should hold over a hundred pounds as long as you have at least 1 inch embedded into the brick and use 3 or 4 properly installed screws that don't spin, aren't stripped, and are tightly driven into the correct sized hole (3/16" for 1/4|" screws). For a large TV and anything other than a flat mount I would use a mount with plenty of slots to add more than 4 screws for extra strength.
Only use the bolts that come with a TV mount on the TV itself. Those bolts will hold the mount to the TV and can only be a certain size and can only go in the right bolt holes, which will be explained in the mount's instructions. These masonry screws can only go into masonry, holding the wall mount to the wall.
Mine when I drill , white ( grey white) powdered comes out , is that hollow brick ?
Yeah I would say it's mortar in the hollow parts of the brick. As long as some of the screws are in solid parts of the brick, it should be fine.

Is 1 1/4 in length tapcons gonna be strong enough to hold a 75 inch TV?

Can I put the masonry screw in the back of the TV?
