    Honestly, one of the best tutorial series available on youtube. Haven't done this one yet but I did do the rook, knight and bishop.

    Just as a note, Grant, you got me back into using Blender more regularly after not having used it since 2.7x. I dabbled a little over the years with the release of 2.8 and beyond, but never really buckled down and modeled much till I ran across your vids a year or two ago. So thanks. Really appreciate the easy to digest videos with full explanations on what you are doing each step of the way.

    Wow! This is really helping Grant! I had avoided using Sub D because it seemingly wrecked my models. Its amazing how edge loops tighten up the appearance. 😀

    Great. Thanks for this, lots of fun. Had an issue with a crease in the main column part along the Y axis. Turns out there were some additional vertices. Managed to merge them, then had to move the some of the remaining ones to Y -0 co-ordinate so that the mirror modifier worked. Managed to figure it out myself, so something is going in! Thanks for putting these out there.

    Hey Grant! If you have the time, I would like to ask you a few questions to get your opinion. :)
    What advice do you have for someone just starting out with 3D modeling and sculpting?
    What are some common mistakes to avoid when working with Blender?
    What do you think sets apart a great 3D artist from a good one?

      @@grabbitt I see it's your way of getting me to go through the whole play list. I've actually done most of them. Starting the knife one now.

    Pls answer me, what PC specs do U recommend while being cheap and be a bit future proof,
    Do U recommend investing into the CPU or GPU or should make them equal. Thx

      keep the CPU a good budget one for ex. - AMD ryzen 5 5600x or AMD ryzen 5 7600x while buy a gpu something more powerful , for ex. RTX 3080, RTX 4080 , around that, CPU isn't gonna be used in Rendering anyways , and these are the best Price to performace CPU(s) that i've listed. buying a gpu powerful enough and with good amount of VRAM will always be Future Proof. I won't reccomend going for AMD GPU because i've heard that they don't offer a good performance in Creative Programmes but they are really good for gaming.

    Are those tris on the top not critical? Like if I need it to be game ready, will that not be a problem?

    Do you guys think that the grant abbit beginner course is worth it even if i have a basic understanding of blender? I started in january

    • @grabbitt
      @grabbitt  Рік тому

      Yep it's got a lot of different aspects of blender and goes into a reasonable amount of depth quickly and methodically. You can even ask for your money back if you don't agree

    As always, great tutorials on your channel. The King image isn't in the Chess Pieces folder. The Queen image is so I've grabbed that for the next tutorial.

      If you want future-proof, as much as you can reasonably spend. GPU is most important for rendering, CPU is more important if you do simulations. My 1660 Ti was great before I upgraded, but now that I have a 3060 Ti, my render times are basically cut in half. So glad I upgraded. Look up a GPU hierarchy list that has a "performance per dollar" category, and build using PC Parts Picker
