- David Gilmour joins Jeff Beck on encore to Jeff's concert in Royal Albert Hall 4th July 2009. They performed wonderful version of "Jerusalem" (written by Hubert Parry).
Band Lineup:
-------------------
Jeff Beck - guitar
Vinnie Colaiuta - drums
Jason Rebello - keyboards
Tal Wilkenfeld - bass guitar
RIP Jeff. You were probably the most talented electric guitar player to walk this planet. Certainly one of the most innovative and creative, who always thrived to push the limits of the electric guitar. May God welcome you in His Kingdom. You will forever be remembered down here.
Equal in ability to Chet Atkins
I am pretty sure that based on evangelical Christian tenets Jeff will be enjoying himself along with Jimi, Bonzo and John Entwhistle and all the other rock ‘n’ rollers in ‘the other place’
@@richardpennington5445 For a rock n' roll star Jeff lived a pretty clean life. I hope he's in music heaven with SRV making electronic music for God!
Indeed 🎉
Not probably. Definitely.
I see videos of insanely fast, clean shredders all the time. For 30 seconds I'm impressed, then I'm bored. What I never get tired of is guitar playing that tells a story and gives voice to some emotion. After 49 years of listening to David Gilmour, I still get blown away every time I hear him play.
Bingo!
Same
Yeah, speed ain't nothing without class. I had a guitar teacher 50 years ago who could shred Flight of the Bumblebee (George Bien, he has a video on UA-cam) but he told me he has to try to be faster than everybody else because nobody could get more sound out of one bent note than David Gilmour.
Thx, u just made me realize why I love Pink Floyd
Great comment, dude.
Sweet mother....Beck and Gilmour together. Two of the most expressive and emotional guitar players in the history, coming together. This is just unbelievable
Absolutely! imagine what would be like to be there... no words can describe it, that's for sure.
You couldn't say it better man. Totally agree.
I wholeheartedly agree and they are the masters of the guitar universe!!
~Agreed~
For each other !
Can you imagine being there? You're in the Royal Albert Hall, feeling lucky you got a ticket to see legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, and thinking life can't get any better. Then you see a familiar form walk onto the stage from the shadows, carrying a black Strat, and you realize it's legendary guitarist David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Then you think to yourself, "Lord, just take me now, because life can't possibly get any better".
This sounds a little creepy though is he offering to take you? I really hope not- dont go with him he wants to take you. Be careful you never know these days 😂
Fast forward in 2022. Royal Albert hall. Feeling lucky to see legendary guitarist Jeff Beck and thinking of life can’t get any better . Then you see a familiar form walking on stage . You start trembling. God, please, please no. It is bloody Johny Depp. Good Lord , what have I done ????
@@Chris-kr2rn look at it this way you can trick a girl into going with you to see the “Johnny Depp Concert.” Try getting a date to see Jeff Beck in comparison. Or maybe even convince your gf or wife to go if you have one. Think of it this way and it’s not such a bad idea. I guarantee you a lot of girls would go who don’t know who Jeff Beck is. You can handle one song lol.
I don't have to imagine it, I was there!
@@hannalee5756 Me too. Couldn't believe seeing Gilmour as well as Jeff (RIP)
David Gilmour walks in like some diety, some mysterious character. Comes out of no where.
Someone explained it perfectly, it was watching a beautiful ego-less dance of two legendary guitarist. if only they collaborated on an album or something I just know it'd be heaven. Complete guitar bliss.
David Gilmour’s favourite guitarist is Jeff Beck . How humble a comment is that from one guitar legend to another. ❤
Man who created the genre of his own.
Man who was the guiding light for the others.
Man who proved that you can get better and try new ways at any age.
Man who didn't try to get all the money and fame in the world.
Man who knew his strong and weak sides.
Man who was humble and let his partners shine.
Thank you for all your music and inspiration.
RIP, Jeff.
This man has been the greatest talent for the last 50 years..
Long Live the great Jeff Beck
Absolutely spot-on. I was lucky enough to be there. A treat.
E
Jeff is the master.
@@fifermcgee5971 Jeff and (Eric) Johnson are the two guitarists who are absolutely peerless on every level, I think.
@@BenignViewer Eric Johnson doesn’t even come close. Writes one good song his whole life. Sings like a female cat that’s hungry. Writes a song called srv that sounds like a
srv style elevator music. Overrated…
I never expected this video will hit 1 million views! I want to thank you all! :) So many people with good music taste :)
No. Thank you for the post!!!
It was all my idea
Why not ? Two rock monsters !!!!!!
Jeff Beck 👍
It's fabulous! Thank you!
The way Jeff filled in for David as he adjusted his pedal board was cool. Very generous playing.
Yeah, that stood out immediately. Was waiting to hear David and in comes Jeff. Professional musicians, best of the best.
That was a totally egoless duet from two of the greats
I just stumbled across this when reminiscing about Jeff Beck, and it made my evening. Playing along my all time favourite David Gilmour, and playing one of my favourite tunes. Could not ask for more. RIP Mr. Beck
I was privileged to be there, it was truly amazing.
Yes, this is just amazing! Wonderful handling of the tone and choice of notes in both of them....Also, Gilmour has often cited "Albatross" as a key influence on his playing style and this is clearly audible here, in the background groove too.
These two have such great ears for tone, feel and taste - they simply are the best of the best! And while David isn't the technical wizard Beck is, his playing is just as astonishingly musical and beautiful. Gilmour can absolutely blow you away with three notes played in just the right place, in just the right way.
BAh! Beck could never bend the strings like David! Who’s playing with who?! ;)
Agree of course, they're immediately recognizable by their tone and the way they'll tweak a melody. Also, the impact of "Albatross" (often cited by Gilmour as an influence on him) is clearly heard here!
7 years later, UA-cam finally suggests pure bliss.
My heroes leave us one by one. I hope to have the chance to see David once more. I missed the chance to see Beck, such a sad day.
Perfect! It just doesn't get any better than this. Two Gods amusing themselves!
Great choice of song. Jerusalem is actually in England!
Danm, i could listen to this duo all day long
David Gilmour is solid proof that fast shredding isn't what players should practice. Slow, meaningful lead guitar and great tone are far more pleasing the ears. .
That's what every guitarist who can't play fast says.
a poet is not who write faster or write more words..this is a typist.
terribly inadequate comparison
there are musics for eyes and music for ears. Gilmour and Beck are for ears.
No music is for eyes.
R.I.P. Jeff Beck... 😪
this sounds like the music you would hear as you ascend into heaven
or for some, HELL!
@@michaeladamonis2620 well then you'd be descending.
I hope so...…….
whoryare LOLCardi Bee and Kanye not doing it for you??!!!
whoryare. At 3:43 Beck makes it sound like drops of water falling from a faucet. Cheer joy.😁
Gilmour is in awe off Beck and Beck is in awe Gilmour... 2 absolute greats of all time, on stage... Oh to be there
There’s Tal again on bass, always with the top acts.
Not to mention vinny
I believe these are the top two guitarists, electric, IN THE WORLD. too bad we lost Jeff, my heart is still broken,
Both of these men have brought me great musical joy to my life and I will certainly miss Jeff Beck. I can't thank him enough!
Winds of change
I've been fortunate to view my favorites, except Jimi Hendrix and Wes Montgomery. I am 66 and am getting closer to vanishing. I just hope to see them all on the other side of the universe 🙏 RIP Jeff Beck. ❤😊🎸
Everyone, just about everyone, wanted to play with Jeff Beck, and he completely spontaneously dominated. But he also appreciated the others.
Absolutely astonishing! Imagine being at this show when Mr David Gilmour climbs down off of Mt Rushmore to play this masterpiece with the GOAT!
Two of the five guitarists that convinced me to learn to play and experiment with the guitar.
RIP Mr Beck 🌛
How did I not know until tonight that this existed? This is really beautiful stuff. Love how Beck and band left Gilmour his space, and Gilmour really played into it (and with Beck) beautifully. And of course Beck and band were brilliant. The two of them playing guitar together, well this might have caused some dust to get in my eye just now.
Rest in Peace Jeff Beck.
Ho voluto riascoltare questa melodia per ricordare questo gigante.....Rip Jeff🥹
I think they simply have nothing to prove to each other and just enjoy this moment :)
I believe that Beck is like that with anyone he shares the stage with - a true artist ❗ and neither one don't need to prove anything....they made their way
beck and gilmour .... kings of feel and tone
Brilliant collaboration. Two of my favorites. RiP Jeff
This is right up there with Chris Cornell and Layne Staley singing together
Oh my god, I didn't realize it was Jerusalem at first. beautiful. Edit: I was sent here by the algorithm so I didn't see the title.
Two of England’s outstanding guitarists playing... Jerusalem.
Man, David is so damn humble! And Jeff taking a bow in the end? Wow! That says a lot about how much they respect each other. Jeff is playing, having big fun, while David seems to be loving it, but still focusing not to fail, like: "I just can't be messing things up around Jeff..." 2 monsters, 2 of my favourites, enjoying the world of their own. 🎸❤️🙏🎼🎧🎤🎹
😊😅
2 angels while playing 🎸......
Have a nice trip, Jeff 🕯️🎸🖤
Could it be that the algorithm reads our minds? Few days ago I was watching a Jeff Beck video and I was thinking in the difference with David Gilmour and know youtube brings this... Amazing
One of my great inspirations has crossed over Jordan to the promised land.
We thank God for the 78 year-long "trips around the sun" that he gave to Jeff Beck.
Thank you so much, Late Night. Listen to this. Could not have been more perfect amazing amazing amazing beautiful….
This is fine wine...it just gets better with age ( and wisdom )
No other guitarist sounded like Jeff. No other guitarist will. Thanks and we will continue to rock on with you for eternity.
RIP...u are eternal
A legend is in heaven RiP
RIP Jeff.... Thanx for give us your music...your legacy remains forever!!!
Living legends, already then. Now only one remains. There already were only a few of the greatest guitar players of all time who brought beauty in music through the instrument.
So much mutual respect between them. You gotta love it, both class acts!
Stumbled onto this fantastic piece featuring two brilliant virtuosos who say more in one note then other say in 100. RIB JB, and Godspeed DG!
people dont realize that not only is Jeff Beck & David Gilmour on stage but also Jimmi Hendrix(guitar strap) is also on stage, whatv a spectacular moment🙏🏻
If I had ever gotten to be there in person to see Jeff and David play together live, I'm pretty sure a random body part would've fallen off.
Two absolute masters of the craft and art!
Just what was it about this generation of musicians? They're all in their 70s or no longer with us. They remain the most popular and are still the biggest draws on the live circuit.
I am so sad at the loss of a guitar god - cannot express in words how I feel
This is what CAN'T be taught; GREAT TONE, GREAT NOTES, AND BEAUTIFUL PHRASING!
Arguably the two most natural players ever. Born to it and you hear it in your soul.
RIP Mr Jeff Beck. so sad you're gone. What a privilege to see these 2 great guitarists perform, albeit by youtube video
I saw Pink Floyd in 92(?) and Jeff Beck in 2011(?) Its one thing to see a "rock concert", its another thing to see a true artist playing pure music. Im playing "Angel Footsteps" next. ✌️
Beck and Gilmour reminds me a good wine. The older they are the better they sound, hands down.
Two of the best right there, and David once said in an interview when pressed to name his favorite guitarist....Jeff Beck. I'm sure there is some reciprocal admiration from Jeff, awesome to see them together.
who needs words when you can create that much emotion from the guitars of two masters of emotion playing what is arguably the greatest emotional tune ever.
I went to a concert several years ago and there were several rock mega guitar stars there including Beck. I don’t want to turn this into a bash the rock star comment so I won’t use their names, but Beck blew them all away. His skill level and artistic skills were just so much more developed. He included pinch harmonics and the notes, feedback wise on his amp, to craft his phrases. I mean I still liked hearing several of the rock hits too but Beck took it to the next level. Gilmour was definitely an excellent artistic match with Beck skill wise and talent wise. Btw, Gilmour wasn’t at that concert I mentioned earlier. Hat’s off to these two ❗️
Jeff Beck and David Gilmour surely know how to make the guitar talk in melodies you will hear in your mind for a lifetime. Not the fastest ever, but the best ever.
These two could play the alphabet and I'd listen to it all day. I'm in awe
Was in tears
The most serene and peaceful composition and presentation of this glorious music, thanks boys
I can't believe this, stunned 😢 to hear Jeff is no longer with us, left a comment here recently bout how Jerusalem is one of my all time fave. Rest in Peace Master Guitarist Jeff Beck🙏🙏🙏🇨🇮☘️
Hearing these 2 play together...is such a treat.....then playing this song.... I don't know another version of this song which is more beautiful than this......if it is out there....someone say so.....this is it......
“And in those days.” If you can’t mix Rock and Classical Music including a hymn, and appreciate the zeal that these men have invested their souls into a radical approach to the appreciation of good music then all contemporary music is either dead or the audience died many years before Jeff did. And Jeff is currently collaborating right now behind those Pearly Gates with all who has gone before. Blessings sent. And Dave thankyou as well. It must be The Greatest Gig in Heaven right now and I’ve got to go. Please let me in!
RIP Jeff, and thank you.
Space the most important part of any music.
David Gilmour ..... a true legend!
a sacred musical
union..in a sacred place
in this universe.....
After all, Sir David declared mr. Beck his favourite guitarist
Both fabulous guitar players ,what a gift these guys have Rip jeff
Guitar gods unbelievable. This two can jam for days and I won’t get enough
Gòats4sure
Both humble .... so they see each other as an equal instead of a competitor. What a lovely piece of work!
R.I.P. From Tuscany
Do people appreciate how lucky they are to be able to hear REAL ICONS of the electic guitar music, these two British stars are without any doubt the best in the world at what they do, in my opinion Beck is the best there has ever been .The greatest living guitar player in the world, many might disagree that he is the greatest that has lived naming other Americans such as Jimmy Hendrix, I have been fortunate to have heard them all live and believe there is only who stands out at that is the "hands of God" Jeff Arnold Beck.
Nobody plays like Jeff Beck. I've been playing for nearly 50 years. Heard them all and played along with the masters. Trying to play with Jeff was like trying to play with Jimi's or Roy Buchanan records. As Clapton said he just pulls the sounds out of the air.
Your only as young as you play
Wonderfully Amazing!!
A classic example of "less is more"...supernatural..nuff said.!!
Genius at work.
Two of my favorite guitarists making phenomenal melodies together. It don't get better than this. Soooooooooo melodic. Beautiful !!!!
Melodic? Yes! From Vangelis but not from David Gilmour. Can you the Album Chariots of Fire?
@@MaoZiyuanSuzhou I can the album Chariots of Fire.
Джефф Бек был уникальным музыкантом...
Покойся с миром,маэстро Джефф Бек
This is the coolest fucking thing I have ever witnessed in my ENTIRE LIFE!
Jeff is so humble as he shakes Gilmours hand at the end...The guitar God of my day..Jeff! You Rock! 🙏
Jeff Beck just outplayed evryone whoever had the courage to share the stage with him...
incredibly emotional.
The older I get as a guitar player ( I’m almost 50, been playing since I was 12) the more I love to wail, and shredding has long since lost its appeal.
Two of the most brilliant and great guitarists in the world...❤❤
Rip Jeff beck , David Gilmour please carry on
And to think....pot is still illegal were I live! I just got an emotional high watching this
Jeff Beck's intro is to die for!
Toward the end it seemed like Jeff knew what David was going to play before he did. What an amazing musical moment in time. That will never happen again.
ive seen
jeff Beck
David Gilmour
Srv
Eric Clapton
Gary Moore
Jerry Garcia
Carlos Santana
Robin Trower
Joe Bonamassa so glad i got too see all these guys in concert im 65 years old + alot more too
I'm glad the other members of Pink Floyd were too afraid to ask Jeff Beck to take over for Syd. Cause we got Gilmour out of it.
Just wow! It doesn't get better than this!
RIP man . Emotional guitar playing never gets old or boring ❤
They compliment perfectly. Yin and Yang.
Two legends on one stage.
