Washer fills with water then stops/ not draining/ easy fix whirlpool

In most cases when the washer does not spin it is the door latch. A bar attached to lid engages switch when lid is down. Really easy and part is cheap. Usually available at your local appliance parts house. Cost of part is usually way cheaper than repair man visit.

Could be a bad drain pump. Is it off balance at all? I would have to know more about washer. Model number?
