Animation usually involves giving human characteristics to animals, so it's fun to see it the other way around. :) Also nice to see Glen Keane giving credit to his animators.
I've had the extreme pleasure to attend a conference with Glen Keane. I'll always remember, how nice and brilliant he is. And also when he explained, he didn't find the right way to animate Tarzan...until he saw kids, sliding on skate boards and roller bladers...and then, he told us, he's been watching hours of videos with surfers, skateboarders and roller bladers, in order to understand their specific moves and catch it. That's why Tarzan is sliding on tree branches. It's so simple and magic :)
My favorite aspect of the creation of Tarzan is that his feet dexterity was inspired by Glen Keane's wife when she casually picked up a piece of fruit with her own foot.
Glen Keane is without any doubt one of the best animator of all times. So sad he had to spend the end of his career working on bad movies like Treasure Planet.
treasure planet hasn't got any solid storytelling. They turned jim hawkins as a delinquent, then the arrival of billy bones which is an important part of the original novel, occures in a couple of second, and this guy, who don't know and don't have any interrest for jim, gives him the map? I'm won't talk about the depiction of the captain and doc doppler. And can someone tell me how silver, who was flint's second could ignore the way the crew used to travel through space gates ? The characters have smooth animation maybe, but they lack psychology. For me, treasure planet is certainly one of the worst adaptation ever made. Not because the artists, they are all masters, but because of the producers who made choices only because they wanted to gain mtv audience ( air surf, really ?) and not for making a classic film. you can see that the story was constantly revised when you hear the dialogue between jim and silver about the mecanical arm." sometime, you have to make sacrifice to reach your goal..." but no futhers explenations, obviously, they cuted it and didn't care for continuity. Just a flashy movie with no soul.

The last 20 seconds made me cry :')
He did said that he did Tarzan’s tree surfing because Glen learn extreme skateboarding from his son.
Inspired by his son's interest in extreme sports.

His son and Tony Hawk is the reason why Tarzan surfs
this was so beautiful
Glen Keane, for me, the best artist TT.TT

I thought Treasure Planet was pretty good. However I do wish Glen Keane could be young again so he could give us even more wonderful creations.😊
