The art of hand drawn animation is not dying out. Many of these artists are now sharing and teaching it to the new generation. It is in the next generations hands. as long as people still love to draw it will never die :)
the characters facial expressions between 2:30 and 2:35 are just... phenomenal. The way he perfectly captured the emotion of the character, the determination and steel in her expression is honestly astonishing - especially with how simple the design/art is. To be able to portray that level of emotion with such a light series of lines is genius.
Absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE how fluid the drawings are; when she moves faster the lines get less defined as though they are blurred by motion, and then settle back into definition as she slows again
This makes me so emotional. Such beauty. I love it. It shows the girl was being called to a higher calling. She danced her way through the wind and push and pull. With all her strength she leaped and bounded and found her truest potential.
if i ever get the chance to work on a project with him, id cry everyday. because glen keane is my childhood! all of his works are amazing. simply amazing and inspiring!
the minute the animation started i kinda screamed and had goosebumpes all over my body and teared up and felt numb for the next 2 hours ! it's basically why am into animation ! i hope glen keane stays well and healthy and keeps on creating
omg damn hes so good it doesnt even feel like a human being can do this, it feels like something almost divine watching his work, you sir are amazing, great job to everyone on this halfway through this i realized my jaw had dropped a lot haha, really amazing
He looked up, seeing her on the cliff, and climbed more vigorously than ever before. He knew it was her, the girl he was destined for from the very start. He just HAD to reach her.
I swear, Glen Keane is gonna make me obsess over drawing ballet and similar themes. The way he captures the balance, flow and fluid imperfections in motion just... I should probably get to sleep, it's 10:35 as I type this.
as an ex ballett dancer........ it's so nice to see ballett animated correctly. the movements in this (and "duet") animation are so fluid and look like ballett is supposed to look. well done
Glen Keane is amazing. I started drawing relatively recently and somehow my quicksketches always come out nicest after I've spent a while studying his work.
What can I say? Beautiful. Magical. Inspiring. And I thought I was depressed. This is awakening my artistic side and I'm wanting to create something. Thank you, Glen Keane!
Glen Keane is indeed a master of his craft and a great inspiration to all artists. Let's not overlook the dancer too; Marion Barbeau. This whole process is a symphony of creative expression between the both of them and both should have equal credit :)
The legend strikes again. Please keep doing what you do Glen Keane. Seeing your work in motion makes me wish that the major forces of the animation industry gives a chance to a 2D animated film again soon.
This animation is just breathtaking, everytime I watch it it's remembering why I started to draw in the first place. I wish i had a chance to learn from Glen keane
Since my major is Drawing for Animation, another thing that did help me learn more is that Dancing is another form of inspiration. Yet, is another form of Art. You just gotta shape it then, present it.
He designed and was the supervising animator for Pocahontas. He was also the designer and supervising animator for Ratigan, Ariel, The Beast, Aladdin, Tarzan and Silver from Treasure Planet. He also did the bear fighting in Fox and the Hound and the Eagle sequence in Rescuers Down Under. He was widely regarded as the finest animator at Walt Disney animation studios in the 90's to early 2000's. His final role was on Tangled. Initially a director but then demoted to just Character designer... He later left the studio to pursue his passion for hand drawn animation. This man has been one of my greatest inspiration in animation.
the music really adds to the atmosphere, may i ask what the name of the song is? also this moved me deeply, amazing work, i aspire to maybe be able to go into a field like this and make pieces as incredible as this one
oh my god this makes my artistic side extremely excited
+Smufette101 Mine, too!
Same
+Smufette101 Right!! :D

I'm so sorry but I misread that as 'autistic' and laughed so hard
Not gonna lie, this made me cry a little. It's heartbreaking that the art of hand-drawn animation is dying out, this is stunning.

My dream is to do traditional animation so I'll be one of the many continuing it
Yes me too

👍
he is absolutely amazing.. but let's all not forget how amazingly talented the girl is too! she deserves just as much credit in this :)
Glen Keane, you never cease to amaze me. This was captured so beautifully.
CGI animation may be wonderful, but nothing will compare to the hand drawn animation of Glen Keane's

Glen keane is simply amazing. Each work is a unification of many years of hard work, passion, devotion and most of all-love.

Absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE how fluid the drawings are; when she moves faster the lines get less defined as though they are blurred by motion, and then settle back into definition as she slows again
That was beautiful. So smooth and mesmerizing and powerful.
This is why artists take inspiration from the world around them.

A breeze of blissful freedom...those are the words I would use if asked to describe this piece. What a gift of music, dance and artistry. Thank You
The movement in each shot is BREATHTAKING! He brings so much life to his characters!
why is there something so delicate and so heartbreaking about the beauty of hand drawn animations...
Stunningly beautiful! Like all of Glen Keane's hand-drawn animations.
My headcanon is that this is the same girl that was in the Duet short
He looked up, seeing her on the cliff, and climbed more vigorously than ever before. He knew it was her, the girl he was destined for from the very start. He just HAD to reach her.
I'm not only impressed by his art, I'm also impressed by his methods
Forevermore will always love Glen Keane's works. Watching his works is like poetry❤

You lucky duck!
I think so.
He designed and was the supervising animator for Pocahontas. He was also the designer and supervising animator for Ratigan, Ariel, The Beast, Aladdin, Tarzan and Silver from Treasure Planet.
