I still miss when the 450 meant a 4.5 liter engine. Although it’s good to see a straight 6 back. Much smoother than a V6

I personally think this interior design is so much more stunning and elegant than the overly futuristic and screen heavy design of the new S-class

123-foot stops in an E-Class Mercedes? I have a sneaking suspicion this thing comes standard with low-rolling-resistance tires to meet that 26mpg fuel economy rating. Could probably scrub 15 feet off that stopping distance with a proper set of tires.

+1 .. Good ole MotorWeek review! .. Its February 2023 having taken delivery 3 weeks earlier of a new 2023 E450 A/T Wagon... The newer 3.0l I-6 turbo is "refinement" in the Mercedes old sckol fashion. .. The 3.0l inline 6cyl turbo is a masterpiece..
Standard AWD. I miss when Mercedes and BMW used to give a choice between rear drive and all wheel drive on most trim levels.
This E450 is 0.7 seconds faster to 60 than the E550 from just 10 years earlier. Daimm.

Beautiful E450! I’ve owned three Mercs; 2008 C350, 2012 SLK350, and 2013 E350. All three have been great cars, mechanically & appearance. The 2008 C350 got totaled. And the other 2 are running strong & fine. However, new Mercs (along with so many other manufacturers) improvise horsepower with added on turbos attached to too small of engines. All mine have been naturally aspirated V-6’s without add-ons.
Mercedes Benz is all commercial now buddy. New Benz’s are built by accountants now trying to make more money for the company. Thanks Chrysler lol. The old Benz’s were built by engineers not accountants
The MB sedans (except S class) these days don't look stately like the W124 but more like an economy car style.
I like the wheel to go through the radio.
Looks really nice.. the problem is long term reliability. God help the the person sitting in the chair when the Waranty is up.
NOW THAT’S A PREMIUM INTERIOR !! Just look at that color combo 🤩🤩🤩 ! Whoever chooses an all black interior over this color combo is boring & square AF !
MB has taken a step backwards as far as the steering wheel controls are concern. The last gen model year of the E class had aluminum covered spokes/control buttons that looked/functioned far more better and far more satisfying to touch and feel. This newer black plastic controls? Not in my car!
Interior looks so much better than the new S Class!
I love that they brought the inline 6 back but I wish they’d call it the E300
The thing I don't like about the Mercedes Benz is the tail, how it swoops down. I wish they had made a dovetail going up versus going down. It just look blah to me and boring, even the tail light look boring now too. I'm not too crazy about the LED on the headlights either, I think the outside needs a refresh to make it look more manly/aggressive. The interior on the other hand I love, my only gripe is how cheap some panels feel or begin to rattle shortly after.
They are magnificent vehicles. I love my E class.

Nice car. But I can't be the only person to miss simple buttons and dials.
Take off the traction control and you ll chop another 2 tenths off the quarter mile .I ran a 12.63 in my C43 with it off. Video is on my channel. The traction control kicks in when you floor it off the line and holds it back a little . Went way better with it off.
I am fully on board with Mercedes Benz technology. It’s never disappointing and always class leading. But the exterior design took a step backwards. It’s too bland. The outgoing design looked so much nicer.

I love the powertrain and the interior changes but can't get over the new design language of MB, not quite as bad as BMW but definitely lacks appeal and brand recognition compared to previous models. I'll stick to pre 2020 models

@CBJO_752 Mercedes is 10x better than Lexus.
@CBJO_752 Mercedes has cars like the AMG GT63s, AMG GLE63s, AMG GT Black Series and the E63s wagon which many people has said is the best all around car on sale. Mercedes has far more advanced technology like turbo mild hybrid 6 cylinder and V8 engines, way better infotainment systems and they just feel better to drive. Also Mercedes has way more models than Lexus and if we’re talking about AMG vs F models then the difference is even bigger.
The only Lexus that is good in my opinion is the LC500. Everything else neeeds a redesign and cars like the RX and NX should be RWD based and not on Toyota platforms like they are now.
@CBJO_752 It’s not really Mercedes fault for putting smaller turbo engines in their cars. Goverments espacially in Europe have very strict emissons regulations so they can’t put a big 6.2 N/A V8 in every AMG like they used to. When it comes to reliability, Lexus does beat Mercedes but that’s because Lexus is always behind on tech and still use N/A engines.

The steering wheel will have to be cleaned often.
Better to get the wood steering wheel - it requires burl walnut wood interior, though. I think the polished walnut looks even better than the open-grain stuff that is the fashion (reminds me of driftwood). The wood inner-ring wheel combo with the light leather is gorgeous.
I like the dark blue exterior with the saddle-orange color of the interior. It’s one of the few exterior colors that look nice with that $4500 interior leather package.

When you walk into a normal car dealer, saleman look down on you. When you go into mercedes dealer, saleman look up to you.

A turbo is bad enough to me but can you get it without the stupid mild hybrid
The mild hybrid spools the turbo and gets better fuel efficiency. Great engineering when it works lol.
There’s a reason people lease these and drop them for something else after 3 years

Awful. Just absolutely awful. Big touch screens that get in the way and are prone to failure, and an electrical nightmare under the hood. Couple that with the push button trans and disgusting interior, and youve got a merc that most of the general public won't even bother looking at. Mercedes has fallen so far down the hole from where they once were just 10 years ago, both in reliability and functionality. And it gets worse every time they release a new 'idea'
It only has to last long enough for your lease. Then it's a throwaway car.
I mean most people are in love with the interior, no one calls it “disgusting” and my mercs have been pretty rock solid. They are not cheap cars to maintain, but if you take care of them, they will last you. Sure some models have problems, but if you stay away from a first year you’ll be fine. Having jumped back to back from bmw to merc, the merc was always there to pick me up from the side of the road when the bmw with half the miles broke down.
What a lazy design, looks way to similar to the lesser models.

As a BMW driver, I think this is awful in every way. Heck, it's silver!! The most terrible of colours. MB drivers need to be banned. At all times

My neighbor had a 300d like the one shown in the video. It drove like a new car with over 600,000 miles. This was 15 years ago, I bet he still has it. They pretty much never die. The new one will be mechanically totaled by 150,000 or less

They may not be the tanks they once were (they were going broke doing that as no one - in particular the USA - was willing to pay the premium that sort of manufacturing cost anymore as mainstream cars were cheaper and catching up), but MB - at least the German-made ones - at least are competent at fit and finish, which isn’t something Tesla seem to comprehend just yet
@@Lrules364 MB isn't using corner molding from Home Depot to attach critical components. Not to mention orange peel, shoddy suspension components, non-AEC qualified displays, etc.
