I think it's impressive especially for the V6 and such a heavy car S class is so nice. We don't really need electric cows and other pasture animals are actually doing more damage with their gases than a lot of these engines are these engines are running cleaner than ever I'll keep the sound of the V6 over some electric appliance
I’m blown away by all the numbers. Including the fuel economy. I want to lease one but wasn’t sure the I6 would be enough juice. I was proven wrong by motorweek today! Love it!
Got a chance to drive one of these this weekend and was blown away by how nimble such a big car could feel. The fit and finish was impeccable, and the tech was amazing. Way more combinations of colors and interface choices than I would ever use.
I liked the last generations interior more it felt like they were competing with rolls or Bentley but now with the minimalistic interior it looks like they are competing with Tesla 😞

I don't disagree with that, but they are always looking to take steps forward in terms of performance and safety above appearance. The thing still rides like a dream, but purchasing this in the 3.0 doesn't interest me a bit. Frankly I wish they wouldn't even make an S class in a 6 cylinder; it's not a real S class.
The suspension in these is phenomenal. I routinely ride in an S class limo in Prague when I visit and no other car I have been in can handle the cobblestones and tram tracks like a Mercedes S class. It just glides over them...

Mercedes has always been the one to set the trends other companies wanted to imitate so to see things go the other way is disheartening.

There are few automotive entities more timeless than a Mercedes S-Class. However, John Davis may be one. I have watched him review Chevy Blazers etc in the midst of a childhood snow day back in the early 90s, and still respect and appreciate his input to this day.

If i own a mercedes out of warranty, i will only maintain engine and transmission only, so it drive correct. I will not maintain anything else, especially electric glitches, because it cost too much money.
It's nice to see Mercedes have toned down the styling of their top model. Over the past several years all the chrome and creases were bordering on cheesy. The new look is what I would call subdued and elegant.

I say it's about da8n time that full size luxury vehicles like Mercedez finally thought it would be a great idea to have rear steering to easily steer the behemoth in tight corners. I haven't seen rear steering like that since the GMC Sierra Denali back in 2002. Surprised not many car manufactures have this technology in their full size sedan line up.
3.0 turbo v6 with 424hp and 390lbs torque is impressive to say the least. Honestly I’m pretty fascinated on how advanced we are getting with these engines.. I mean Chevy trail blazer has a 3 Cylinder, yes I said it right a THREE CYLINDER turbo engine. With the last 5 years have really showed how amazing things can change and so fast too. I bet the designers (5-10 years ago) NEVER thought of putting a v6 in the s class flagship! But now... 5 years ago I would of laughed at a s class with a 6banger. Now I’d probably own one. HA
Really hate the interior styling. It's a shame because I loved the ride of my last S-class (2010) and would buy another if if only Mercedes had not put a Tesla interior in a $100,00 + car.
Hate to say it but I agree with you. We bought a 2020 loaded Subaru Outback in fall of ‘19 and that was the first year they put in a HUGE touch screen right in the middle of the dash between the driver & passenger and we HATED it. You HAD TO take your eyes off the road to use it and it seemed like so many of the functions took two buttons to complete and there were no tactile button back-ups. The standard 4 cylinder CVT was loud and ssssslooooow and the voice recognition was utterly worthless. Got rid of it in Nov. of last year and replaced it with a top-of-the-line Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy model (one step below a Genesis) and we truly love it. Turbo 4 cylinder, no ridiculous giant touch screen and so much better in so many ways.
Yeah the big tablet was a shame, but I understand why they did it. Too many functions that wouldn't fit on a normal center console. Rear seat are perfect. Bodystyling is great. Rear is still growing on me.
469 hp from a straight 6 engine, my 95 W140 makes 225 hp from straight 6. The V12 W140 did 406 hp when debuted but now the straight 6 can put out more hp…im guessing the new 6 cylinder is turbocharged
So many LCD and LED … I did not like that. New cars are getting sitting rooms and this is not the way for me. My last S class was W222 and I will not buy this. Thanks Mercedes, you save my money.
Most of these will probably be leased by people who have money to burn. After several years when the warranty runs out these will depreciate like a rock. I'm guessing this vehicle has over 75 computers on it, which are great when they all work in concert together. However, when the inevitable repairs are required be prepared to warm up your checkbook. Even small repairs will require sophisticated diagnostic equipment, specialized Benz technicians, and recalibrating of complex systems. No thanks!
Figures the one thing a luxury car buyer wants to know they skipped, which is how quiet is it on the highway, road noise, wind noise? Or to get 27mpg is it like driving an 89 ford truck on roller skate wheels?
I love the Mercedes S class I own the 2013 S550 but I really think they dropped the ball on the exterior after the 2018 model (every model after looks cheap and quite ugly exterior wise) they need to go back to the bold big body Benz everyone fell in love with! I still think the 2013 S Class is the best visually

I hate how car manufacturers feel like they need to replace everything with screens. It doesn't make the interior say luxury at all. A high end watch like Rolex shows design and craftsmanship, replace that with a digital screen and it's all gone

What this review did not show is the glare which the air conditioning outlets on top of the dash project onto the front windscreen. The heads up display also creates glare and reflections. This would seem to be automotive design 101, which Mercedes fails. BMW manages to minimize glare on the Seven Series.

It’s Not to compare with the 5 series from BMW , a BENZ is a Benz !! The Mercedes got a completely Different Style to Drive and got a higher class ! BMW is also a good Car , but when you compare the F10 5 Series with the W212 E class ! The 5 series is a Joke ! Not the E60 it was a Great Car ! I got a 530d E60 very good Car ! How will all this tech hold up and depreciate over time? Repairing all this tech will render this mechanically totaled due to steep depreciation over a few years.
This is the most generic looking MB I've ever seen. It looks like a car in a video game that can't look like a real car because of licensing. The headlights are too small or the grill is too big or both. And then the bumper lower fascia looks horrible. Why has Mercedes fallen so much?
The interior makes the car look cheap. It's the equivalent of an Apple watch to a Rolex. One is timeless, the other will look outdated in a matter of years

Truth! Many of the 2.0 engines today don’t get nearly as good mileage as they should!!

if it were the best automobile in the world it would brake at 90 to 100 feet like Audi's rather than 134 feet, that's not very confident braking results for a luxury car costing 110 +
How will all this tech hold up and depreciate over time? Repairing all this tech will render this mechanically totaled due to steep depreciation over a few years.
People usually lease these for 2 years, not buy them and hold onto them forever...

This is the most generic looking MB I've ever seen. It looks like a car in a video game that can't look like a real car because of licensing. The headlights are too small or the grill is too big or both. And then the bumper lower fascia looks horrible. Why has Mercedes fallen so much?
The interior makes the car look cheap.
It's the equivalent of an Apple watch to a Rolex. One is timeless, the other will look outdated in a matter of years
