LAFD / Koreatown "Re-Burn" / Vacant Restaurant Mini Mall Fire

- 5-15-2020 - Los Angeles Firefighters, Engine 6, first on scene near the intersection of 3rd Street & Vermont Avenue reported smoke showing from a one and two story previously partially burned strip mall. LAFD Firefighters quickly stretched hand lines attacking the fire and protecting the exposure to the north, which was the rest of the strip mall. Due to the building being unstable with serious previous damage, the main bulk of fire was knocked down with four ladder pipes and outside handlines, no initial interior attack. The previous fire that gutted both floors happened two months ago, destroying a Korean restaurant-market and a Wells Fargo ATM terminal. The main bulk of fire was knocked down in an hours time. There were no reported injuries. Building & Safety was requested due to the damage. LAPD & D.O.T. assisted with traffic and crowd control. The cause of the midnight Major Emergency K-Town blaze is under investigation. MNR
The insurance company must not have determined this to be a total loss the first time...
Who knows, I leave that to the experts. 3rd & Vermont is a major intersection, I would't be surprised if surveillance cameras in the area caught something...

Sorry, I took the day off. I was at home, radio scanners off. I didn't even know about it until you asked, then I looked it up and read the details. Looking at video of that BLEVE fireball I am glad I was not there...

Dang 2 in one day. Did you see the pics of the FF's comin g down the ladder and getting burned. 2 on ventilators, 2 in ICU with burns. They need prayers..

10-4. I just checked out the specs, bad little camera. I always say, "Sony Video, no Baloney Video." I just hope it has good night spec's with available light, that's the most important to me. All cameras on a tripod look good or decent in the day...
