- A surf adventure around Australia with Nick Colbey and mates.
Follow Nick on a surfing adventure around Australia in his beloved Coastal Emu - a 4×4 ute with a slide on canopy.
The journey begins in Byron in Autumn and heads south, down the East coast, all the way to Wilsons Promontory in Victoria, catching the car ferry over to Tasmania into the harsh winter.
Onto the Nullarbor, heading west, and further up the West Australian coast to then traverse across the top end, through the Kimberleys, and onto Arnhem Land and eventually Queensland.
Jump in the ute and come on a trip of a lifetime.

This is how real trips go. For us in Calif back in 70s , it was Mexico. Before it went to shit. Great times scoring insane waves, always followed by small tragedies. 😜.

What an amazing adventure. Even though there was hardship, it had to be a spirit builder. The scenery, the people and the awesome surf you found. Did you know in advance there would be a swell at all the the spots ?
You didn't mention or I missed it, what started the fire on the truck ? How many boards did you lose and we're some vintage ?

Thanks for the kind words Ray. The second battery I had in th back of the canopy caught fire somehow and slowly heated up until it started burning out my car. Lost 5 boards and my nannas guitar sadly. Happy to live to tell the tale. Thanks for watching. Nick
