- Over a year and a half in the making and featuring a cast of surfing’s most capable and compelling characters, anticipation is peaking for the release of Volcom Stone’s latest feature surf film, Psychic Migrations. Following 2014’s True To This, a surf-skate-snow epic, the forthcoming Psychic Migrations is yet another inspired Veeco Production that builds on more than 20 years and 30 influential films from the world of Volcom. Directed by veteran surf filmmaker Ryan Thomas and shot on location in the West Indies, East Indies, Australia, Polynesia, and the Americas, the film weaves the physical expression of riding a rousing score of waves with a cerebral odyssey through the scapes and textures travelled to find them.

Ryan Burch is crearly not in the conversation of the greatest surfers of all time, but that day in Chile he made one of the greatest surf performances I´ve ever seen, it didn´t even feel real.
Quite possibly the best surfing ive ever seen on a board he shaped himself no less!

The feeling when watching this video is from another world. Beautiful landscapes, Insane waves and chill music, no talking. Amazing job from the surfers, camera man, and all the volcom team for being a le to capture that vibe. Probably best surf movie I have ever seen.

This film and View from a Blue Moon came out around the same time right before my first Deployment in the Navy. I downloaded them and would watch them both all the time to take my mind off the grind while out at sea.

The that fish was handled was phenomenally done. Fluid motion and just looked so clean and accurate. Style IS EVERYTHING.
Hands down , best surf flick I ever have seen. That chili wave or Peru left was insane. Guys were drawing the best lines I've seen on a fish. Then that last right barrel in indo was just against the law. That wave was illegal. Great cinamatography with all the nature and stuff. No words and not to many airs. I like the lines and the backdrop of the whole point going off. Insane work guys. All those guys had great great styles. All tuck knee surfers and no smelling up the lineup

This was a very well done very excellent art experience. A mental extravaganza of a ride, from start to finish with accents to play with your senses along the way. Like the dancing piano notes in perfect since with the rain droplets dancing on the water before that blistering ripping session on those long hollow spiraling lefts. One of the best surf movies I've ever experienced. Beyond epic sounds, the sound track alone is an out of body trip.

I have watched this fish section 148 times. My dad was a kneeboarder (and still is) from the 70s and he wont let me borrow any of his old Robert Augusts, so i had my shaper @ECsurf in OC to clone one of them and make it even better. Its a 5'8" with like 40-45 liters. Dream!! Also got a little Birchy fish thats 31 Liters to pretend I can surf fishes in punchy waves. buy BOTH is my story

does anybody know what 16mm camera was used for this?
I think it's just post-production with colour grading and fake/digital texture + LUT + cinematic lens on a RED Camera, bro. You can see that sometimes the surfers have a ridiculous tan that makes them seems to have got yellow fever and It's not inherent from the film I guess. Anyway, the artwork is lit.
