Truly is nice to see, as that's how it should be, but is often stranger than kindness. Seems to me, that so much damage has been done to the collective psyche by the perpetuation of the self made man myth. Nobody is an island, and nobody gets to the top without much help and guidance and luck. Gratitude doesn't seem to always get the universal praise it should
An extraordinary Australian. Mesmerising. Erudite. Ageless and timeless. We are so lucky to have him here, still giving and creating. I remember seeing him for the one and only time when I was 15 at a gig in Sydney with a friend who took me. I was frightened, couldn't see a thing, and the periphery of his performance art was a shield to some, like myself, for many years. I couldn't hear the poetry, for the noise and the wildness then. I feel grateful I can now appreciate this great artist, and can't wait to see him play with the Melbourne Symphony in August, and train it from Sydney to see it. One of my twin boys, 11, and I are currently listening to Push The Sky Away, and I hear him in his room singing it to himself. He says he can't get it out of his head. My son is a talented artist already, and to see the connection he feels from listening is very moving.
I have always liked Marianne Faithfull since her debut in the 1960s. Her voice has gone through the changes of her interesting life. Her voice is memorable with great depth. Such a treat to watch this interview. i really like Nick Cave as well.
Wonderful intimate document to share. It’s so informal and yet so artfully paced and shot. At first I was struck, maybe too struck, by the change in her voice- not a drastic change in its sound but a loss in strength. As I listened more, the singing voice became compelling in its honesty and directness. Which I guess are two qualities her singing’s always had. I live Marianne’s mop of hair, especially that shot of her at the end, all smiles, bright eyes, and piled up hair.
She had that ancient, lives/loves lived quality right from the start. Nick, nail on head. Ballad of lucy Jordan" is a perfect example. Thank you for this insightful interview.
Really lovely to see Marianne still doing so much so bloody well. Great songstress. And in concert she also tells bloody great stories too. Thx. Aine ❤️
I PLAY GUITAR AT 16 OLD PLAYED IN A BAND..IN TORONTO BARS... BUT I LEARNED AND PLAYED AS TEARS GO BY I LEARN IT MYSELF ... IN THE EARLY 70S LATE 60S.... THANK YOU FOR MUSIC... YES I BECAME A GREAT GUITARIST BUT MY LIFE TOLD A TURN.... BUT I STILL HAVE 3 GUITARS AS A MOMERY... I WRITE MY SONGS ALSO..... I JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW I AM CAUSE I LOVE YOU MARYANNE ♥️♥️♥️♥️🎸🎤🎤🎤
Yeah, age is a mind matter, not so much the years one has. If you don't feel old, you surely aren't. It works the other way round equally, there are young people who, unfortunately, seem quite old, because what's in their minds are already old and outdated ideas. Feed your mind, keep young, would be my message.
@John Ashtone Do not totally agree. At a certain age, as you say, they may care less about some social gossiping, but still care for your reputation. At least the ones I know. Who would like being stained by fake stories or to be backside staggered? What happens is that, with years, you may start hearing 'round you "you are right in that", "oh, yes, I see, dear... What you say is truth..", and so on. Mean, maybe different groups of people, as out of the blue, are agreeing with many things you say, so from then on, perhaps you start feeling freeir to speak in a bit more crude way, sometimes, than you dare before, don't know... But, about her "couple of dirty stories", come on, she has not told them, she was only joking and besides, does that matter? Basically, they are chatting 'bout music, that's all. You think people like her, waste their time chit chatting about dirty stories or having the least interest in such matters? Or we have a certain level or you belong to another world, in' t it? All this, said with due respect, for sure. 🙄🙄😔🤭
Yes. That is truth. And considering the use highly sensitive and creative people sometimes may have done of hepato toxics, it is a wonder how they pass further on than seventy years with the show going on. They must take some dorian gray recipe they should reveal to human kind... But if life is a celebration (Did Keith Richards said that?) or should, beg them to keep at task and congratulate about. Who wouldn't ? Since each one is owner of his life and no one does harm to others and they manage to preserve their privileged brains... Maybe we all need to get into mind windmills or cross storms... This happens when trying to create, nothing new. The head is round to make ideas turn in every sense, as basques says. 🙄😔💜❤️🤗 P. S.- Don't think am justifying or trying to, nothing. Mean this sometimes happens, that's all.
Would like these two souls collaborating in some record. Talented people who went through the storms of life to emerge as better even than they already were. From her on, we will remember and talk more of Mariane Faithful, Baroness of Sacher Masoch, than about the famous writer, her ancestor. For me, Mariane is and was, an icon. We liked her then, during and now. The Lady who wrote "Sister Morphine", who played in a Waits work, who wrote "Why do you do it", who sung "Strange Weather", the actress who is a living legend. A dawn poet, speaking always truth. By the way, her English is the one that should be taught in every good school. Have to read her. 💜❤️👌😔🎶Thanks for the music, Mariane.
So!! She just release a new album. Got to know it. Gonna have the Alexandria cedeteke if keep on this way. Together with the library feeding and surrounding me... Better jump through the window, no place for me, no way my pals visiting me. Better get off and leave it up to my ex or my step son.. If they find place where to sit... This stuff takes increasing room... 👀🤔😂
Yes. "The Gypsy Fairy Queen" another of Marianne's great, lovely songs. She has many I really love : "El Gavilán" (small vocal jazz appearing in the B.S.O. of a romantic movie: should have developed it and made longer for it's sheer beauty), "Times Square", "Why You Do It", "Strange Weather", "Alabama's Song", this one, several of her folk and pop beginnings (Scarborough Fair), "Song for Nico", "Sunny Goodge Street", "Braindrain", 'In the Night Time ", and so many others that the list would be too long. Am afraid will never find my dreams compilation, of course with her "Sister Morphine" "Mother Wolf" and "The Last Thing On My Mind", included. These ones I take them on the spot, as just a bunch, and for instance. Others will add theirs. Marianne has gone far into the deep and real sense of life, in a way that makes her a noble and very interesting character. She has become a very good vocal jazz singer and songwriter, always surrounded by excellent musicians crews. But the way her discography is, will force me to buy too many of her records, to have everything I want. But keep aware and waiting a double album that puts together, at least the majority of what I wanna have. Leave you with just a words of what she says here :.. "for we need each other..". Yes, charming lady, we need each other all of us, to go on through the storms and the celebration of life. And as she sings in El Gavilán:.. "somebody loves you.. More than you know"... We will follow you, Fairy Queen. 🙄😍💖💎👌👍
Don`t now much about marianne. But if nick collaborates with her there must something good in her music. Nick is the man with the sophisticated taste in music. I have seen his concert in the stuttgart liederhalle most of the songs from the boatsman call - one of his best albums. The performance on stage seemed to be like the stageshow of Dreigroschenoper - a very privat atmosphere.
I like some things NC has done. He wrote the film The Proposition. If you haven't seen it, do so. He wrote a few good songs with the Birthday Party. But.... hmmm
Real Great. Reminds me of Leonard Cohens’ music🌹 Now who wrote this music?? Anybody? Sphere so overpowering.. with Mariannes’ Voice and... She Can🌹❤️🌞👌
These are very special people. Unmistakable
Yeah that was very good. Cheers.
M.F. has a beautiful and unique voice. There's no one else like her. Oh, and Nick Cave, you are wonderful. Truly.
In my world I imagine Nick and Marianne are my best friends and we sit in my garden and just - are. Thank you for being you. :)
OMG Mine too seriously lol.
What a lovely world it must be 🥰
I could listen to Nick playing piano all day. I hear him in his playing.
For sure.
Nice guy.
Her voice crumbles my heart and my soul as well.
True words 👏 my regards to you from me in Australia. Please remain safe in your life.

Two beautiful and gifted persons found each other.
Very cool 😎
I like seeing their respect for Marriane she’s an amazing creative force
Wonderful how they both give so much credit to those who support them. Humble and kind.

Sally Bradfield That’s very cool. It should be interesting to see and hear what kind of art your son creates.
Thanks thats very sweet..lol.phil.@'Dn NZ.😊
Great artists, Marianne, Nick and Warren... Thank you for this
What a wonderful combination, Marianne Faithfull and Nick Cave. Just exquisite, what could be better?
Marianne is as beautiful today as she always was. What a talent.
Nick is so clumsy it’s adorable

Truly beautiful work Marianne! Hits me to the core. True legends all of you!
Marianne is as wonderful as ever, love this clip.
And A Great Album

So powerful and humble long live raconteurs. Thank you
Thank you very much.
The beautiful fragility of my favourite originals is tearing me to pieces and gives me a space to really breathe here.
Thank you.
Really enjoyed this , they should put it on a DVD and do another deluxe version with extra tracks, i'd buy it in a heartbeat. Classic.
That's the word to describe the essence of Marianne Faithfull ; defiant, defiantly beautiful AND beautifully defiant......ALWAYS and FOREVER.
Two of my favorite artists join up...how cool is that!
This was absolutely lovely. Thank you so much.
I love you Marianne. You always inspire me and I love the way you smile!

Marianne’s songs is like an Ingmar Bergman film put into music. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis is up there as well.
Great director...
The twilight in between. Great line. Resonate in the sound.
Thank you for sharing this Marianne! You are a queen ❤️
Thank you for sharing. Lovely video. It makes me cry.
Grateful that Marianne Faithful finally ditched her earlier "life plans" to commit fully to her music. She continues to create such wonderful work.

Great, amazing, wonderful! Love Marianne and Nick! A great Team!
Album of the year , so beautiful .
I have to say, Nick Cave is ageing gracefully. The guy doesn't even look like he's 61
