The way you used real movement from your own recordings to get a more accurate feel in the simulations is amazing. Great job!!

We use the whole pipe. That's 65% more pipe per pipe. They come in hundreds of designer colors including forest, desert, table, evening at the improv... what idiot picked this one...

Dear Harry,
I really want to thank you. You inspired me to download and try out SFM too. Sure, my first few animations looked a bit.... Well, weird, but with the learning curve I had so far, I am optimistic that it will get better.
Ofcourse, I cant ever reach your legendary level, but still, your work made me think and encouraged me to just give it a shot and see what happens.
I think I am speaking for your whole Community by saying: Your animations are straightup breathtaking and combined with the lovely music, and awesome "Story telling" you really make us smile every time we see the notification "Harry101uk uploaded...". It really makes out daily life more bearable and gives us something to work towards to.
It is impossible to find the perfect UA-cam Video but this is just because your Creations amaze us everytime anew, especially with the Potential of Source 2 which you will definetly fulfill and even go beyond, even further than what Valve think you could to with their very own Tools.
But as it always is, UA-cam fame is not related to quality, which is why you are WAAAYYY underrated given your god-like Performance.
Please keep up the great work you are doing, but when ever you feel the need, have a break, you can clearly tell by the Creations if the Creator likes their work or not.
If you are fully behind your project, we will love to wait another Month or two.

Really nice seeing some of the full scene builds for this video, especially with how impressive the environments are!
After working on this project, would you recommend the current public release of S2FM over SFM? Would you say the trials and efforts required for working with a relatively undocumented software are worth the final result?
Yes! There's definitely a learning curve with the new tools, and learning how to port over models and make them look right in the new lighting / material engine takes some practice. But once you move to Source 2, it's impossible to go back. If you're pretty familiar with Source 1, you should have no problems. The new tools for importing custom models and materials are incredibly easy and powerful. The lighting is also far better, with the new PBR lights, volumetric fog and 360-degree point lights. PBR shaders for models allow a lot more control for different materials like shiny metals, transparent skin, etc, too.
Performance is better so you can build *far* more complex scenes without the program crashing or turning into a slide-show. The engine now makes full use of modern PC's. Memory limits are lifted, so you can now have as many high-res models and textures as your heart desires. (I've got new scenes with several millions of polys and 8K textures) Shadowed light limits are also doubled, and you can have much higher-resolution shadows.
The material and model editors are built-in, and allow you to edit models and materials on the fly so the changes are instant no matter what you're working on.
Hammer 2 is also an amazing modelling / mapping tool, and very useful for creating huge procedural models and scene-builds. (like forests with thousands of trees, grass, etc)
Overall, it makes life SO much easier, and it really makes SFM 1 feel antiquated. ;)

@@Harry101UK Thanks so much for the response! I've been generally on the fence towards completely transitioning to Source 2 for a while, and I've tried out a lot of the tools Source 2 has to offer. I'll definitely try it out some more and hopefully I can get well acquainted with all the tools! I've known for a while how powerful it is as a software but it's nice to know it's well worth the learning experience : )

There are no words. No possible compliment I could give to justify this beauty of an animation and the tremendous talent, hard work and expertise you put into it. You can't have animated this, you recorded this with an 8k camera in Aperture, some how. Right? No... It was animated. But how? I may never know, even with the BTS laid bare for me to see. Congratulations Harry on continually creating stunning... no, that's not the right word... Wonderous? Nah. Spectacular? Hm... Infinitely impressive and gorgeous animations in this Portal universe, keeping the fandom alive...

Are the remastered assets your own? I can't imagine the pain of all of the importing you had to do my guy, looks sick though
he said in response to another comment that the model editor is built into the program so I doubt he had to do a whole lot of importing
@@falugger1659 I had to convert and port over all the Source 1 models from Portal, the Little Nightmares character, and tons of other background props. That took several months of work and learning, which is partly why this video took so long, haha. ;)
But yeah, aside from most of the models being from the games, I've remade a lot of the textures and other details from scratch, so they now light properly in the new Source 2 PBR lighting engine, and are high resolution for 4K renders, etc. =)

@@Harry101UK I think your going to use some of models more often now because of how much work you put in. If I was you I’d try and cram as much props as I can into the scene so my time isn’t completely wasted

Oh, that looks amazing, i remember the firsts tries to mod under Unreal Engine, i replaced the cubes toys and some chairs by the portal companion cube, and chairs by turrets, on the actual game of course. Greetings.
