Nope. Turrets are sentry guns meant to stop test subjects from completing tests. Cores are important parts of the enrichment center's functionality. They contribute to GLaDOS's knowledge and personality and look after the test subejects and probably a million and one other duties as well.

I started playing it but got bored really fast. Like I said, I hate playing puzzle games in a pair for 2 reasons. 1) I feel under pressure to figure out the solution quickly or else I'll let my partner down. 2) If I think I've figured it out it can be frustrating trying to explain the solution to a partner, and if it fails at first they might be more reluctant to pay attention to me.

In addition to a sort of step by step workflow for some shots.... with you explaining what it is you're doing. I'm just insanely curious on the process.
I loved the video, but I think you should adjust your lighting in the space scenes. You don't get any Ambient Occlusion in space. As you can see in the game's cutscenes which I think are accurate from an artistic point of view, characters are lit by one direct light (and a slight rim light). Your characters look like they were filmed here on Earth. Just wanted to point that out...

For the eyes, I just made a soft red / blue / yellow dot and key-framed it to track the eyes. I set the opacity blend-mode to 'screen'. =) For lens-flares and stuff, I used Magic Bullet Looks. ;)
Haha, thank you! I made this before the filmmaker was released so 3DS was the only real option. All of that (lighting, shadows, motion-blur, etc..) is achieveable in 3DS; it's a very powerful tool. =)
This was all made in Adobe Premiere, 3DS MAX, After Effects, Melodyne Studio 3 and Reason 5. =)
