Never heard of this band before and it sounds right up my alley in this moment of my life, thanks for showing us such a variety of sounds and bands that some of us may have never heard of otherwise!

I saw Spires live last year and I'd never heard of them before. I was absolutely blown away, she was doing these angelic cleans, ridiculous belts, and full-on black metal screaming. Everyone I talked to at the show became an instant fan that night. Also it's interesting how you mentioned maturity, Adrienne recently said on her Twitch stream that she wrote Cabaret of Dreams when she was only 17 years old so I think her compositional maturity and confidence as a musician definitely increased between the two halves of this album and into the later ones. All the albums are concept albums but also they all tell one connected story between them. They've even written lore on their website!

Yeah same the audience went nuts saw people frm 18-80 and all fell in love with her she is such a good composer and singer, since they opened for Dragon force sh ehas blown up in the music scene big pop artists are even clawing to get stuff written for them by her. Guilty Gear 6 as well now and Sascha Paeth has been working with her.

Finally you checked out Seven Spires! Adrienne does the orchestration, she cites Dimmu Borgir, Nightwish, Epica, Therion etc as musical influences. I think Dimmu is the top one for her. On the classical side she's more into Romance era music then the more typical Baroque influences in metal.

She has written the lyrics and the composer lead singer has her masters in Classical Singing and music theory from Berkley she is good real good.

I got the pleasure of seeing these guys live last year, and they nailed it. Stage presence was infectious.
With this album, you’ve really just heard the beginning of a really solid trilogy of albums. If this album was full of ideas that maybe didn’t reach their highest heights, the other two as a group bring it all together pretty masterfully in my opinion.
You really deserve to hear it all!! Emerald Seas is your next stop, and it is a direct prequel to Solveig
Gods of Debauchery is absolutely their most fully realized piece of work, though. You will be fascinated by it

It surely must be time to visit the second album in this trilogy?
It would be interesting to see how much of a development & difference you notice compared to Solveig, also maybe knowing some of the lore of the overarching story (on their website) will help make more sense in terms of lyrics and theme for all three albums.

I just saw on their webpage that there is a lore section for the trilogy which tells the complete story depicted in each album. It's a great read and compliments the projects even more, definitely worth look.

I love your whole take on the balance of metal and orchestral/classical. I'd never thought of examining that before and how much that 'wall of sound' you described can lessen the impact in comparison to dynamic and intricate movements. I'll have to go listen to their latest album again (my favorite of the three) just to see how it holds up with that balance. Each album is a hell of an improvement to the one that came before and personally to me, they've truly honed their craft with the latest one. Hopefully you dig it too and I can't wait to see you delve into both of them at some point.
Also as a side note, I had to walk to the store in a very light rain this evening and this was a really chill listen for that little trek. So thanks for the vibes as always. Peace ✌🏻

The singer, Adrienne, pretty much had the concept for all three albums written in various forms, all based around the sea & the characters of the narrative. I remember seeing a photo of her with stacks of hard drives that were the raw collection of her work up until that point.
If you go back and listen to the albums with the knowledge of the concept the you can almost feel a sense of the high seas with the ebb & flow, swells, pacing and 'olde world' vibes added to the interludes and certain instruments. You kind of hinted at it many times in your video, how sections would feel disjointed, I have always treated it as if it was the traveller on an old wooden sea boat, the waves just throwing you around. It's possible that this was intentional in the writing?
The progression in the three albums also lends itself to the nature of the entire sea story. I would be interested to see you do the other two.
I believe that the trilogy is complete now, as far as I know. I do not know what the next saga will be but there is definitely a wild imagination in Adrienne & the bands writing so I am excited.
Funnily enough, this is the one album that they have not yet released on vinyl so fingers crossed it will be pressed at some point soon so that I can finish the collection.
The other thing to note is how young Adrienne was when she had written all of this music!
By the way, I think she would make a great guest for you, I can see you having lots to talk about.

The sheer creative minds behind everyone in this group is amazing. Adrienne, though… you really just have to listen to all three albums of this trilogy to appreciate the concept she’s constructed, and the vastness of what they have created
She would be a great guest

My interpretation of "symphonic" in symphonic metal is the musicality and balance of focus instrumentality. Sure it CAN involve orchestral instrumentation in backing tracks, but I consider symphony x to be such but they don't use winds and classical strings.

So awesome that you checked this out! As other comments have mentioned they have a trilogy of albums that are all part of the same story, it would be fascinating to see you experience those too if you ever find the time :)

I'm a huge fan of their sophomore release, with a few of the songs, "The Trouble with Eternal Life" in particular, being songs of the year for 2020 for me. Never went back to check this album out, let's dive in :D

I dont know, I did not feel the first 6 or 7 tracks or what it was, but after that it get alot better overall, but a album need to be good overall for me to listen to it again, now I can skip to track 8 and start listen from there if I want. For me this album is not a complete experince, it feels like everyone had their own ideas and then they put everything to the album. Is not a bad album, but a album need to be good overall to make me want to listen to it again.
