Euthanizing depression patients is bonkers. I had major depression for the duration of 2013 to 2018. It wasn't pleasant, but I got through it, and most importantly, I learned a lot about myself having gone through it. I love life now and can't imagine the bad decision it would have been to take myself out in 2015, for instance.

They think it's too much of a liability to say people can use some substances, even if they are much less harmful/addictive, creates this feeling of powerlessness in people in recovery, so they just don't try at all to resist the hard stuff if they slip up a little
It's dumb, I used to be a heroin and benzo addict, and I always saw people have one little relapse, then they go out and go hard as fuck on the dangerous stuff
Why not be honest and say it might be fine for you to smoke weed or use kratom?

Love this but one correction - engineers ARE scientists, many engineering degrees are awarded as Bachelors of Applied Science. Some engineers do actual scientific investigations and some don’t, but all are trained in the Scientific Method, as much or even more so that Scientists themselves.

but what happens when someone calls their bluff and says fine release it? Then there's all kinds of questions about where it is and why do they have it.
