- Some thoughts on Selim Berker's idea that, in addition to deontic and evaluative normative categories, we need a category of the fitting, appropriate, suitable, deserved, etc. It seems they DO have duals-which might suggest that they are deontic after all.@PhiloofAlexandria

Dr. Bonevac, this is helpful! This addressed my question from your last video very nicely. I wanted to follow up about gradeability. Do you think it would be enough to classify the aptic in its own category? I'm inclined to agree with you that these would seemingly fall under some form of deontic, but I do feel like that cheapens the rigor of the gradeability test. Also, has Berker responded to these ideas? (To introduce myself a bit, I'm an incoming PhD student at UTK, but I am an MA graduate from HCU, a student and advisee of Walls and Baggett., with whom I conducted my research thesis on the best explanation for our moral knowledge. We spoke briefly over lunch at the conference there, and I very much enjoyed your talk)
I remember! I'm writing them up now, and will send Berker a copy to ask for his thoughts.
@@PhiloofAlexandria I cannot wait to hear how he interacts with these thoughts!
