Thanks for this review. I think this would be one of my favorite parks, due to its classic charm and nostalgic ride lineup. As an amusement park history geek, I'd be in heaven here. I greatly appreciate the parks aesthetic.
I grew up in Sylvan Beach in the 80's. We used to have traveling carnivals come through during the summer season also. Plus, fireworks and other shows including concerts, beauty pageants, car shows and arm wrestling competitions. It was open everyday from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
I’m a big fan of classic attractions. I prefer the older rides like the scrambler and paratrooper to modern day stuff. So this park looks exactly like the place I would visit
I was lucky enough to be able to walk Laffland about 17 years ago, and thankfully not much has been changed. This is a Classic Pretzel, complete with all the Black Box Stunts that the company supplied at the time of install. Also, the local Casini has been after this property for some time now.I’m glad the current owners haven’t sold but if you haven’t been here, I’d make a push to visit sooner rather then later. A classic park and one of my favorites
I spent many days here in the fifties and early sixties. Love the fact it looks much the same, many of the same rides. It was especially magical at night under the lights. Wonderful that it has not been uprooted or torn down. At night it could get pretty crazy in those days as there was a sleazy bar nearby and fights were not infrequent.
Great video. That's actually the correct speed for the Roll-O-Plane. Most places today run them (and other classic rides) too slow. The Rock-O-Plane is also supposed to run at that same speed of the Roll-O-Plane.
This gives me the same vibes as Keansburg in NJ. Fun classic park down there. It's very slightly more modern though with more updated rides but some antiques still
Such a nice looking park. Even though I’ve never been I’d recommend it to anyone in the area. If you’re going to the beach, this is a great place to spend some time if you want something a bit more exciting to do. And it’s cheap, which is always a plus these days.
Great review! I live about 90 minutes away from here and I think I might give it a shot this year! Good to know there more than just the credit! I’m thankful that I didn’t go last year though
I have a strange obsession with these types of parks, without decoration but with many attractions, this park would also be perfect for the climax of some police drama with supernatural overtones ps: if you ever plan to go to japan i would like you to go to tokyo dome city, Fuji-Q Highland or nasu high Land
Yes! Great road tripper. Paired with the other 2. Great Escape wold be the 2nd eclectic one for the trip ans yet another step back into time. A seaside park is always fun. I love the use of primary colors in this park.
There is a charming place to eat, you walked by it when you said there wasn't a place to eat, maybe for some reason it was closed at that moment, but it is very retro and cool and one of its best features.
I lived just across the canal in Verona Beach in the early 80's(1 block off the canal)...LOVE THIS PARK!!!...it was old and nostalgic back then(40 years ago)...summers were great for my then 12/13 yr old self thanks to this park("once the girls of summer have gone")...making out on Laffland dark ride, spinning in the bomber pinning your friends to the side, playing in the arcades...people need to put tech away, forget vacations oversees, and visit and support places like this...get back to a good old fashioned American road trip vacation!
I grew up ten minutes away from Sylvan Beach! I loved it there! I used to go there all the time with my dad. The only downside is that people littered a lot and most of the time the water got up to 4 feet for the deepest we were allowed to go though. I hope they changed that though. We usually went to Verona Beach for swimming and went to Sylvan Beac for the Amusement Park
Stupid question CC, you mentioned you need at least 2 people for the Galaxi. Is that per car (one person in each row), or is there a no single riders deal? I was planning on doing a NY State Fair visit in August and thought I’d stop here on the way back for the Galaxi credit (and Laffland too!). Thanks as always for your great videos! Edit: the parks FB page mentioned last year that the Rotor is being “refurbished”. Hoping for the best!
Awesome video, I actually live right next to this place. Sylvan beach is a great time and has so much history. I challenge anyone to beat my high score in ski ball!
if you like this, you’ll really appreciate lakeside, I know I keep commenting about it. I’m so excited to see your review/reaction to it!! I know you’ll come to denver at some point! i promise i’ll be patient!! 😂
Hey Canobie Coaster, I’m planning on visiting all the New England parks the first week of September. I had no idea all the parks besides quassy and palace Playland were $40+, do you have any tips to save money on admission to any of the other parks? Would you also say the parks are worth a $40+ admission?

It really feels like a step back in time.

Cool!

It's a unique one.

It had a much more family-friendly vibe for me by day.

Oh wow! Yeah this park likes their classic rides.

This one was in a much better state.

True!
I love Parks like this one with the old school rides and games.
They're cool!
I love playing fascination at Indiana beach. It’s so much fun and very addicting
Indeed.

It's worth a stop.

I have been to Tokyo Dome City and Fuji-Q. I have a video on the top parks in Japan.
Yes! Great road tripper. Paired with the other 2. Great Escape wold be the 2nd eclectic one for the trip ans yet another step back into time. A seaside park is always fun. I love the use of primary colors in this park.
It is a good pit stop.
I've gone here every year since I was a kid
Nice!

Ah ok, thanks for letting me know. I went to a restaurant at the nearby casino and didn't have the best experience.

I love how old-fashioned it is.

That stinks people littered.

It's 2 people total. They don't need to be in the same row.
I miss the Rotor ride they used to have at Six Flags St Louis.... was soo much fun.
I wish more were still around.
Awesome video, I actually live right next to this place. Sylvan beach is a great time and has so much history. I challenge anyone to beat my high score in ski ball!
I love how historic it is.
The Galaxy is the reason to go, but a park from the 1800s, dang.
It's old.
I'm all about the flat ride selection here! I hope they get the Rotor up and running.
Me too.

I am waiting for Haunted Mine Drop to reopen before heading out that way.

If Funtown is still open they tend to offer a twilight ticket. Quassy has in the past too.
Six Flags Darien Lake also has a Fascination Parlor.
Yes!
sylvan beach
Yup
If you were in the state of New York, can we logically assume you were at Six Flags Darien Lake while there?
I will be back later this year for Darien Lake and Seabreeze.
Can you please do a review for Bomber?
I did one for Satellite at Knoebels, which is similar.
Never been to this park but I’ve been to Seabreeze
Seabreeze is cool.
Seems like the owners care about the park
It does.
Seems like bay beach
Except no Zippin Pippin.
I’m not sure I’ve heard of this park
It's an obscure one.
