You just got to wonder when the locomotive goes rumbling by the crossing gates over intersections, exactly what's going through the minds of drivers as they watch that heavily graffitied locomotive pass them by and exactly what they think of their city as a whole?
*LOL I live in Willowbrook where Magic Johnson Park in located... This piece of junk has been around for YEARS!!! Have often heard it in still of the night or in early morning, which is pretty brave for the crews rolling it through this area...*
Bunch of placard violations on those LPG tanks -- the DBUX car has no placard on either side (but has at least one on an end) and the GATX car has no placard on one side. Although they're empties, they're still required to have a placard on each side and each end, as there's still some product sloshing around in the bottom.
I assume this job still originates out of the old SP J-Yard off 25th? Back when I worked for UP, we called it "The Torrance Local" and it alternated days to Torrance and El Segundo. I only caught it once on student trips to Torrance. Now I can't remember if it's considered a "yard" or "road" job.
I was the engineer on both the Torrance and El Segundo local for years. The SP called these jobs locals. When the UP took over their designation was changed to TSE..traveling switch engines. The job are paid at the flat rate. High seniority jobs..
@2A3A66 the yard at the old J yard just handles the corn syrup for the sugar house and boxcars for the recycle company. Most of the downtown LA business has disappeared.
Great Scott, that's the worst graffiti I've ever seen on a locomotive. It looks like it's been pulled from a scrap line. It even surpasses UP's usual standards 😐
Pretty sad to see them leaving LA with 2 cars when I can remember either job (low10 or 20) often having 20+ on some days. N ever seen the El Segundo or the Torrance with one engine. What year was this vid taken?
@@LARailProductions Thanks for the video. Does low 10 still exist, or have the low 10 and low 20 been combined, and do they still leave Normandie and actually go into Torrance anymore? I remember them having 1 or 2 cars they'd shove to the end of the branch not far from Remolds Aluminum plant and old PE shops, and they were down to once or twice a month, and that was about 20 years ago
I love the choice of urban camouflage the UP paints it locomotives these days. Rolling through the back siding among the graffiti walls - it is nearly impossible to spot! 😁 Seriously though, very nice video - quality is superb. (Looks to be possibly an ex-SP locomotive based on the rear extra head fixture)
Tuesday thru Saturday, leaves 4th Street Yard in LA at around 6am, usually gets to El Segundo between 7:30 and 9am, heads back immediately after switching the Chevron storage yard

Awesome video, I loved seeing this local also
Thanks!
Sweet chase! I'll never get tired of seeing ex-Southern Pacific power.
Thanks!

Fantastisch! 1469 habe ich zuletzt letztes Jahr (2023) in Burbank gesehen
That is an Ex Southern Pacific gp40-2.
That’s sad. Used to be the cleanest unit around.
Still my favorite 40 down here though.
They store this unit near Downtown so that explains it lol
That why I prefer BNSF locals 😂
Nice collection of local action. Thanks for putting this together.
Thank you!
I caught that locomotive at Slauson Station heading North at 1:08 PM yesterday Good Video .
Thanks!
Great video! Gotta love the Union Pacific local trains. I happen to live not far from where LOA36R runs.
Thanks!
This is peak California action. Gritty industrial spurs, trash everywhere, palm trees, and graffiti. Excellent production!
Thank you!
Awesome clips of LOW20 On the Wilmington sub
Thanks!
I live in El Segundo, didn’t know they still run the locals because I heard that they closed up the line, but apparently not!

Years ago I actually did this but starting from El Segundo. I was really bored and this got me out of the house. Cheers.
It's a fun one for sure!
Well, obviously they don't park that engine where it’s inaccessible to the spray paint crowd 😂. Cool video!
Thanks!
Great video ty 👍😎
Thanks!
Thanks for another great video.
Of course!
Great video well done!
Thanks!

It originates at 4th Street Yard off the River Sub east bank

Did anyone lose a wallet in El Segundo?
Gritty and industrial rarely looks better than this!! 🤩
No kidding!
Excellent video my friends 😊
Thanks!
Man I miss living in the south bay.
I dare anyone to find a locomotive with more graffiti on it... LOL! UP at its finest!!!
UP has plenty lol
I was just thinking that those graffiti artists went apeshit all over the engine
It looks awful
Ca. at it’s finest 😕 what a total DUMP!
Third World Country right here in these United States. Oh Well.
My kid calls this the "Rocket Train"
Nice video
Thanks!
@ No problem
Good video :)
Thanks!
At least the graffiti artists didn't paint over the 1469 number under the cab.
Great video! Also I’m sorry if this is a bother but do you mind telling me the schedule of the chevron switchers in El Segundo?
7 days a week between 7-10pm
@@LARailProductions thank you so much!
Nice collection of local action. Thanks for putting this together.
LA cant have anything nice
big dystopian vibes
Real
I wish that CA (and LA county) would incarcerate criminals. You get what you vote for. MAGA...
You're voting for one! 😂 He also happens to be running against another one!
MAGA
maga trash
God LA is such a mess. Neat railroading - terrible city.
Thanks!

This was taken last week
@@LARailProductions Thanks for the video.

I wonder if UP will repaint this loco?
Chances are slim to none
@@LARailProductions You’re probably right especially if these locos are tied down in an unsecured area. They’re just as vulnerable as railcars.
Did you really park your car there and run out for this? Lol
You gotta do what you gotta do
when do i find these trains i heard them i just don't know when.

I THINK that is R3AL railroad... what reporting marks are those ??? !!!
I'm glad she's not in SP paint.😊
I think I know how the railroads can save a lot of money painting locomotives ...
