- Just a clip of the introduction of Gaius near the start of the main campaign with all bu the BGM muted. The theme for the Garleans is called Imperial Will, and can be found in game, on the Before Meteor OST and the latest OST from Square Enix.

This theme automatically due to playing whenever we got a "Meanwhile in Garlemald/The Imperial Capital/etc" became the "MEANWHILE AT THE LEGION OF DOOM-" theme to me.
My friends and I make that joke basically every time that happens, too.
Same for me, and it fits soo well.

I was introduced to “home beyond the horizon” by a friend even though I’m partway through Stormblood and I didn’t recognise it until my friend then told me to look this one up. This one I’m familiar with.
The other one reminds me of the Soviet Union or North Korean propaganda music. But given the abuses I’m seeing in Stormblood it fits.

I hated this exposition dump so much. It had no business being in the introduction to this character - too much information being presented at once means that only some bits are remembered. The stuff about Silvertear Skies should have been moved later into the story when it becomes relevant.

The might of Garlemald, with help of magitechs, brought many countries to heel.
But then you hear the radio version and all you could think was, such a great country brought low by internal strife. How tragic
Now THAT'S how you are a bad guy in a video game : hidden face, awesome theme, at least 2 guys that are your best allies and a freaking empire.

I know we live the year 2017 and Gaius is long dead, but...I always thought he was a teensy bit disappointing. I just feel like he could have...done more. But I get it, he's busy running an army, he had no time for us back then. I'll give him credit, though: he was intimidating and merciless when we did see him. And now he's super freaking dead.
He's bound to come back in some point. In some form or another.
A track that rivals and perhaps eclipses FF12's Theme of the Empire in terms of being an excellent track for an evil empire.
Actually, as of 5.3, there's an Imperial character that whistles this theme in his introductory cutscene. Yall know what that means, right? It's an *actual song in the game's universe*.

That face when you realize this song is used in the new area for the Sorrow of Welt storyline.
The motif pops up quite a few times. The Burn has a good rendition of it as well. It's basically Gaius' theme at this point.
@@sparthyslaysstuff2405 i hate to be that guy but the Burn doesn't use this melody at all. The Burn actually uses Penitus(specifically the theme for Prae because of Gaius) and fuses it with Alphinaud's theme which is the main FF theme from ARR with bagpipe(I believe the song is called A World Apart and its the second motif to Answers) because Alphinaud and Idylshire.
Imperial Will is used in Ghimylt Dark and is now used as the hub theme for Terncliff which adds more the focus of the story being set on Garleans as a whole.
I can't be the only one who hears this in Bowser's theme in the Mario Movie.

Gestahl* And, actually I'd say that FFVI was much more sick and sinister. Gaius, Nero, Livia etc are people you kind of enjoyed. Kefka and Gestahl were pure sickos, the former much more than the latter, but you enjoyed Kefka too, which is why he is the best final fantasy villain of all time.
