I'm at the end of 4.4 right now, and no joke, this is probably the first villain I've seen in the story that doesn't leave me with pure determination to defeat, but instead legit scares me. He really gives off the impression of a true madman that controls everything, and this music just makes him feel all the more terrifying. I am legit scared to know what he's planning. He reminds me of Kefka in many ways. I've heard that the main villain of Shadowbringers is one of the best villains in the series. This guy is definitely making a heck of an impression.
@@bl_nderscore I personally liked the Stormblood arc, though I will agree that it's definitely among the weakest arcs in the story, it's definitely no Heavensward, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. It had it's moments, but I'm not even in the Shadowbringers arc yet, and just the build up to it alone has me at the edge of my seat. I'm both excited and really scared of what's going to happen next. It really feels like the empire and ascians are not willing to play around anymore, that they're actually getting serious, and considering everything they've already done, I am legit scared to see what they're all planning, not to mention the headaches that everyone is having with the voices, which I am just waiting for that to happen at the worst possible time. I'll be finishing up Requiem for Heroes tonight probably to gear up for Shadowbringers, looking forward to seeing what happens.
@@bl_nderscore Finished Shadowbringers a month ago, spoilers ahead! Absolutely incredible! I still personally like Heavenward more, but Shadowbringers is easily my second favorite storyline in the game! Emet-Selch is an amazing villain, I love how he constantly trolls and follows you around, making no attempts to hide that he's spying on you and not at all hiding that he's scheming something. Every time he showed up uninvited, he was so damn entertaining because of his charisma and snarky attitude. At the same time too, when you hear his story about why he's doing what he's doing, you can't help but show some sympathy to the guy, even if you know he has to be stopped. The best part about him is how he managed to gain the advantage over the group by doing basically nothing, and we end up infected with twisted light because all he had to do was fire a single gunshot to accomplish what he wanted. He ultimately fails, but still, Emet-Selch was a hell of a villain! Possibly even one of the best in the series as a whole.
@@Nosidda Hey dude, glad you took the time to reply and I'm glad you enjoyed Shadowbringers! in hindsight I think Heavensward was more consistently satisfying but I wont deny that Shadowbringers MSQ was superb. I absolutely loved Emet-Selch too, such a tragic character but truly deplorable at the same time. Made for some complicated feelings about his motivations and beliefs. I'd love to see more as I'm kind of sick of Zenos now and just want him to die for good. I do have a small fan theory that the doomed future's Emet Selch smuggled himself in the crystal tower and is watching to learn what went wrong and how he can correct himself.
Very odd to hear this song in an early ShB Eulmore scene, then it cuts and is replaced with another song. Only at the very end of the scene does the camera show you Solus' shoulder as if to say "Hey if you caught whose theme that was, good on ya."
“I must say, Warrior of Light. That was quite a fatal strike. Such a bloom would certainly kill a man, that’s goes without saying. But I recall that I am an immortal, That fact of forgotten that made myself embarrassed. But still, you really hurt me that time.... at least my feelings.”
It's funny. Varis looks a lot like a World of Warcraft character. He has the same kind of tabard, spiked armor with gargantuan shoulderpads and a ridiculous helm.
Even to this day this is still one of my favorite themes, and one of my favorite scenes. It's just really entertaining watching Varis and Emet give each other this grudging lip service. Neither of them has any illusions about what the other is saying, but they play that little dance anyways.
I suspect they may go for an Ardyn vibe with Elidibus as well - in the JP dialogue with Nabriales, he mentions using the life forced him to awaken the souls. That was the capacity in which he serves, unlike the other Ascians whose main goal it is to revive Zodiark. Then you have him, in 5.1, reaffirming that he will carry through his people's hopes and dreams and later in 5.2 that he serves to carry out his duty and enact the Convocation's will. It may tie into him being Zodiark's heart. I still think he'll turn out to be the original.
@@bl_nderscore ya I'm expecting 5.0 to use the garlean theme that has played since 1.0 the dramatic obvious imperial theme as the main leitmotif. With a secondary leitmotif being whatever 5.0 theme song by nobuo is

I suppose he looks a bit like Varian
