  • Installing a new starter and cleaning the idle control valve for the BMW E92 M3. This DIY guide covers how to access the throttle actuators, remove intake plenum, ICV, and secondary air pump to get to the starter at the center of the V8 S65 engine. If your BMW M3 does not crank or has intermittent startup issues, it is most likely your starter solenoid causing the no start. Error codes I got were A0C1 output terminal 50 and A0B4.

My 2011 M3 E93 at 90k had a slow crank when warm that turned progressively into a no crank when warm. When cold it needed a jump start to start. The new starter motor was much faster. You are still helping people all over the world. 😊😅❤🎉

Thanks Sal for the video. My Active Autowerke supercharged S65 at 106K is hunting for idle in between 2,000 and 2,500 RPMs and a CEL 2B0D Idle Actuator Monitoring, Bank 1. Throttle Actuators have less than 1,500 mi on them, so I am going to replace the ICV and Fuel Breather as no records have been found on those items being replaced.

@@benclement7569 the ICV didn't fix the idle. It ended up being the exhaust donut gasket, which according to sources say are a common failure point in the S65.

You know the location of the starter made me think of the design of the N63 which was in my 550i GT...BMW used the so called HOT V design, the heat from the turbo contributes to the failure of the valve seals.
