You did everything correct except you also need to jump the temp connector to the positive post connector. I have you baur battery now working on 5 different dewalt tools.
Porter Cable, Black & Decker, and Stanley 20v batteries are identical. You have to cut some plastic to get them to work, but I've got all three systems cross-pollinating chargers, tools, and batteries without any issues.
I know that's not necessarily true. I have two Porter Cable impact wrenches that look identical, but the lithium batteries won't even switch between them -- you can't plug pins into pins and slots into slots.
Just watched another repair video as I have an accumulation of nonfunctional batteries. Looks like there is an ID pin that has a certain resistance to tell the tool and charger what battery it is hooked up to.
At 4:39 yes sir, infact, there's another youtuber who actually made herculers batteries worked with dewalts tools. He soldier a resister between the temperature pin to the positive line. Very impressive!
I know this is an old video and something might have changed but I have a Bauer blower and use DeWalt batteries in it with no modifications and no problems, snap right in and go.
I bought an 18V cordless impact-driver from Harbor Freight that was missing it's battery--for cheap! When I got it home, what I speculated was correct: the battery from my Black & Decker 18V cordless drill fit--physically. Sadly, the driver's wiring was reversed in comparison to the Black & Decker, so I opened-up the impact-driver's case and rearranged it to match the B&D's! The battery case itself is a bit of a tight fit... so when released, it don't slide out as easily as it would from a B&D product designed for it. But, at least all my cordless tools use the batteries, and I've plenty of matching chargers for those... so I'm pretty-well set. That is, until I got a Makita 20v lithium-power impact-driver....
We know that the herc. battery works on the herc. drill, did you try to hook up the herc. battery to the herc. drill using your cable method just to be sure that your rigging would actually work in the first place?
Sometimes they reverse the location of the terminals from one manufacturer to another as in the positive could be on the left side of the battery for dewalt and on the right side for Hercules
The ML18DL adapters can be modified as I've shown in my UA-cam videos to fit the Bauer 20V batteries and use with Dewalt 20V tools. They're just now coming out on eBay for sale to use as well as dedicated adapters. Just need some resistors jumping from the looks of it. If you use the board from the Dyson cordless vacuum adapters hacked in, you can have a low voltage cutoff protection circuit in between the battery and tool as well.
If I own DeWalt and want to buy Bauer or Hercules, I still have to run different brands of chargers. I want one damn charger, not five. And I want to take a battery off a drill and stick it on an impact, and vice versa, as necessary.
Was told by a Dewalt engineer the Dewalt contains a magnet in the battery that lets the drill function with proper tool and charger. Maybe that info will help.
I simply opened them up swapped the top pieces (the top of the dewault to the bauer ) Everything lined up perfectly as in polarity. Then I trimmed down the insides of the dewault battery case bc the bauer one was a bit larger. Hot glued some thngs into place put it back together and it works as normal.
I wish I had seen this about 5 days ago. I got the Bauer tool (batteries sold separately) because they make a trimmer that is BOSS for edging a sidewalk where a weed eater or edger won’t work. Anyway, I’ve got some 6 or 8 Dewalt 20v tools with like 6 batteries, so I decided to grind the Bauer. I was careful at first, but soon sold out to a full grind off. Needless to say, I got the Dewalt battery’s fit....but Bauer didn’t come on!?!?! I’ve since broken down and gotten the Bauer battery. It works, but I’ve got to “strap it on” to keep the battery “onboard”. Thanks for the great video.
I didn't run lines, I just cut the plastic and made them fit and they worked just fine, hercules, Dewalt, porter cable, black and decker and (haven't tried this brand) Bauer. I have 20 different batteries from all but Bauer to run my porter cable cordless system (many power tools)Not sure why it doesn't work for you but I use my Dewalt, hercules, porter cable to run my black and decker weed Wacker

That's weird. I bought the adapter Adam Savage used in this video: ua-cam.com/video/8uGS11yuVyo/v-deo.html and used it on my Bauer 20v 1.5Ah battery (the adapter is meant for DeWalt). I had to modify the battery very slightly, but it has worked great so far.
may be a something on the battery itself that you have to push to get it to work. maybe you can buy a bauer battery remove the cells and install in you dewalt battery case.
If you compare the top of the batteries at the contacts of the dewalt n the bauer they r labeled. they have two of them swapped but I'm going to take apart the bauer jigsaw n see if you can't swap the terminals in the handle and make it work. My boss shaved the bauer jigsaw with his dremel n we got the dewalt battery to fit n the laser light even came on.
battery module is a battery module, period! It's all about the wiring, the layout of the Blades on the contacts, the shape of the case, and the difference in the injection molding. I got a Stanley FatMax 20V Lithium battery to work on a Black & Decker standard 20V drill, by just modifying the Stanley battery. I cut a notch off the unit, it fit perfectly. There isn't much intelligence in those battery modules. The printed circuit board is a BMS unit, a Lithium Battery Management system, that insures that the lithiums are charged and balanced properly. Some have better circuits, the Stanley has a more robust circuit, than the equivalent B&D module. There isn't much room for anything else. IMO
There is probably a failsafe switch that needs to be pressed to prevent the drill from running the way you are trying to. I upgraded couple years ago from DEWALT 18v to makita 18v....fast forward to present I wondered what to do with my old dewalts?sell em? Yea right. Did any one ever tell you that you sound like James Woods ?
They make them unique to their own drill so that you won't and can't buy a lower cost battery from their competitors. Probably patent protection of their designs. Has nothing to do with safety.
I upgraded couple years ago from DEWALT 18v to makita 18v....fast forward to present I wondered what to do with my old dewalts?sell em? Yea right. Bought the makita USB charger that hooks up to 18v battery and wired and attached it to an old top of a DEWALT battery. Works great! Send me a message for pic or email oxdogmaxo@gmail point is im sure this will work for most tools. I also attached usb charger to senco 14.4 drill and works great. Attached one to one of those 24v DEWALT saws....works great
Can you make a video for us to see how you did that makita to dewalt connection?
Hughie Boss sure if makita or DEWALT won't sue me
Hughie Boss I did it’s under my name
Boys? Are we not men? We are Devo..
Good video! I wondered about this!!
Or you know, women can actually be watching this video LOL
Hey, I watched and I'm 100% female!! There are a few of us who actually give a damn about power tools. Thank you for the info you provided in your video.
On a side note, Dewalt batteries do work with Bauer tools with slight modifications. I haven't tested this personally, but I just watched a video right before yours. Here's the link in case anyone would like to see what you'll need to modify to make them work.
