For everyone that stayed until the end,, YES, the Hercules battery works in the Dewalt. It won't clip in but it will slide in and function. You can trim the battery but with just a little force on even a new battery and tool, it will slide in and work. Do I recommend it? No. Does it work? Surprisingly
I did notice that the light came on but the motor failed to work on the Hercules. Since a single pole light can technically still work when wired in reverse that means little but could be a clue. My guess would be while many different brands of batteries may have similar casings that can be manipulated to fit other brands, maybe the circuit board controlling the battery may be proprietary to the correct matching tech/setup of the tool? It would be interesting to see if the Hercules battery will power the dewalt drill and even more interesting to see if the Hercules charger would accept the tech of and charge the dewalt battery. Just my thoughts as I watched (maybe I’m the one wired differently, lol) Thanks for another fine video. Adds to the ‘more you know’ column. Stay safe all.

They obviously have to change a couple of things... 10% I guess, but they did it with Porter Cable and the new Craftsman tools. In that particular instance, Craftsman only got a color change and a battery tab for the majority of their line-up. It's all red clone Porter Cable. Edit:Maybe some of the contacts are recessed a bit more and not making full contact. Light came on , so it's getting something.
I believe the extra contact is for the thermal diode they use in the DeWalt batteries. A protection the Hercules doesn't have. I could be wrong though. I think your theory that the contacts are not quite tall enough is possible. I'm wondering if it could also be incorrect polarity somewhere.

Make sure you check out his channel he disassembles the batteries and shows you how to fit them on the dewalt's spent a little bit of time but save a lot of money
The better question is, why does DeWalt charge $80 for what costs them $12 or less to make. Lowe's has a smart move with their line of Kobalt and a $20 2mah battery price

Vince Black and Decker and Porter Cable batteries are just like that but if you remove the plastic on the sides of those 2 batteries they will most definitely work in either brand also you can charge them on the different chargers. I use Porter Cable batteries on my black and decker drill and vice versa with my black and decker battery on my Porter Cable drills. But Stanely/Black & Decker makes both batteries so cut the plastic notch out on the sides and they work fine. 👌
Nechapem zmysel tohto videa? Chceme zlucit ohen s vodou? Kamarat?
You were ahead of the game pa.. Still R
You should do some Dremel vids. Great job brother
Theyre still 18650s inside. Brands gotta stop gatekeeping with the battery bs
Look at james barcellano s channel he will sgow you how to make Hercules batteries work on DeWalt
That's really interesting. Looks like there is an extra contact on the dewalt battery, dont see why that would keep it from working tho, if it was missing one it would make more sense.
Edit:Maybe some of the contacts are recessed a bit more and not making full contact. Light came on , so it's getting something.
how you like me now There is a computer chip with software that prevents it from working.
@@pattognozzi how would knock offs work then?
I believe the extra contact is for the thermal diode they use in the DeWalt batteries. A protection the Hercules doesn't have. I could be wrong though.
I think your theory that the contacts are not quite tall enough is possible. I'm wondering if it could also be incorrect polarity somewhere.
how you like me now There is a circuit board in the batterie that knows if it’s connected to the correct drill. There are other videos where people have done this already and the batteries don’t work in the other tools. One they even wired the connections to prove that they were making contact correctly. Still no go. The light will turn on but no movement.
how you like me now I’m guessing a knock off works because the drill doesn’t care what battery you put in it. It’s the battery that cares what tool you put it on.
What about the other battery vince
does anyone know the name of the song, i been trying to look for that song like forever but dont know the name
Dang all that buildup for a no go 😭
Dewalt sold their last gen designs to harbor freight I’ve said this a many a times they make them not fit it’s the same way with dremel 8220 and the Milwaukee rotary tool
That gotta pay for that nascar team somehow!!
3d printed adapters available now
That would have been funny if it did lol... great video Vince
I really thought it was gonna work!!
@@VCGConstruction I'm not gonna lie I did too. You had me in suspense over here lol.
I use DeWalt batteries on my Bostitch nail gun
The idea is to see if Hercules batteries will power “deWalt tools”; otherwise just buy all Hercules brand; no one cares to use batteries that cost more than the tool. Also 20V dc is always 20V dc; get a schematic for the tool and than reconfigure the battery circuitry to accommodate that; make a video on altering a Hercules battery to fit a deWalt tool so I don’t have to ruin my batteries please and thank you.
Dammit left for harbor freight before the video ended!
Lol jk but thanks for trying because I have been wondering this myself (obviously the vice versa - Hercules batteries on Dewalt drill, I'm not a complete savage!). You cut that test from the video by the way, I'm assuming it didn't work?
Didn’t work
That dremel sounds like the dentist office 😨
🤣🤣
Does the Hercules battery power the Dewalt tool?!?
The video is titled new Harbor Freight batteries work in DeWalt tools
The light came on though !
Yeah day did!!
Part 2 coming
The light went on though.
I thought it would work for sure!!
Hercules is made by black and decker, as well as dewalt also.
You would think
First.... I love this channel I fall asleep ever night to Vince screaming and nick slippy bits lol
Slippy Bits! Hahaha.
Hercules last longer and more durable 3:14
Thank you. I really didn’t wanna watch this.
dont try this at home? what could possibly go wrong?
Looks like the light turned on.
So who on here thinks that Hercules is really Dewalt just making a cheaper brand????
Does it work?
Dewalt puts the controller in the battery, thats why.
Shanghai vs Beijing who will Win...... FIGHT!
🤣🤣
I feel like I'm watching a conspiracy theory video haha
You should probably clamp it so you dont run that drimel into your hand lol
They probably have a chip inside the battery.
A Craftsman is a slightly higher power spec black and decker tool and DeWalt is a Craftsman 😂😂😂 True Story! 😂
Hercules batteries maybe can fit on makita power tools
i see a law suit soon
🤣 And here I thought is going to work just like boss impact driver
im convinced makita makes the boss impact...it has the same buttons as makita and uses their batteries...the boss also says BL motor just like makita 🤔
@@kingofthecrease30 sound like is going to be a mystery Cordless power tool one day don't you think? 🤔
@@tokyomaj2 it was the mystery tool i ran in TTR 🤣
I thought it wAs gonna Work also!!
@@kingofthecrease30 Yip that Engitech/Boss is a makita clone I've read some on it, the BL stands for brushless just like on the makita it's kinda colored like the Bosch.Another makita clone is called Tenwa.
If you need a new camera man lmk, I’ll even focus the camera on what you’re actually doing and everything
