I bought an EMG version yesterday. Got it in D standard. It was a hard decision between the ESP Eclipse for $50 more. But, the head stock is what got me.
I have one of these in red burst. I think it's a great guitar, I've always loved the Les Paul body shape for guitars but I chose it mostly because of the Blackouts.
The Jacksons made in Indonesia are actually pretty fucking solid. I have a Mark Morton sig and it plays just as well and feels almost as sturdy as my les paul customs and BFR JP6.
I had a jackson rrtmg two years back. It's quality was comparable to my rr3 made in japan. I still preferred my rr3. the neck is slightly thicker, which i like. the rrtmg had a really dirty looking neck. Black scuff marks that weren't sanded out of the wood as well as the the white binding being stained ivory from the oil used. I hated looking at it. Only superficial and pics of more recent ones look better.
Seamus McFlanery I've just sent 2 back due to QC issues. They are solid but the final finishing is bad. Fret issues, neck issues, binding, dents, etc. Besides that... They sound and play amazing
I just ordered a slightly blemished ivory white one for 275 off for my first guitar I can't wait I'm just grinning the whole video. I think the headstock looks killer I think that's how a dedicated metal esp style guitar should look edgy and cool
+Matt Nunes , thanks for pointing that out. I'm blind and didn't notice that. Its body is clearly a Les Paul shape, like it or not. And that's not a bad thing for me. I love Eclipses from ESP/LTD
I agree, something about the headstock is throwing me off, it looks great on other Jacksons but not on this one, in my opinion... Also, I'm not entirely sold on the finish...
The scarf joint is how the headstock is fitted to the neck. I'm not really sure if it does anything structurally tho 🤔 And did I hear a bit of patterns in the ivy? 👌
I see this as more of a Esp Eclipse copy with more Jackson specific features on it like the home brand tuners and bridge, the through maple necks, the inlays and the straplocks. It's defintely trying to be a design on it's own but it's defintely not Les Paul and the Eclipse is the closest single cut model in my opinion.
What would you go with -Pro Series Sig Mick Thomson soloist sl2, 24 fret 25.5" scale with active Seymour duncans signature blackouts. -Pro Series Monarkh SC, 22 fret 24.75" scale with Seymour Duncan black outs I dont want a guitar with tuning issues, my epiphone gives me enough problems. Or were their any others you would suggest to look at? I'm really after a fixed bridge with active pickups, with a really thin neck such and Jacksons to me have been the most comfortable. (Have not tried LTD or PRS).
ola how would you compare this to an Ltd ec1000vb? I have played the Ltd and dig it, seems like a vintage guitar with modern appointments. I don't have a place in my area to try a jackson but I like the looks of the monarkh I have play a Jackson slat x series and it seems like the perfect modern metal shred guitar so I am wondering if the monarkh has the same vibe
Hmm, 3+3 new style from Jackson I suppose (I saw this shape a lot especially since Broderick got his custom guitar). Well displayed, Ola. What's your string gauge on this piece?
If they reversed the headstock on these, I'd probably try to get one, even though I'm not a fan of Les Paul shapes or those types of bridges. On a side note; what song were you playing in this video?
I bought a silverburst rrtmg a couple years ago. I can confirm the binding work was shit. The oil used for the neck stained the binding and made it look like ivoroid and the fret polish used exposed stress cracks from the frets. Fret work was fine as far as functionality and comfort goes. Newer versions look better on sweetwater. Still, white binding should be illegal on mass produced, budget instruments. Never had a guitar where it didn't look awful.
HELP PLEASE - is this a thin neck? Also looking at an epiphone matt heafy signature les paul (heard amazing things about it). I prefer a thicker neck so it would really way into my decision. Also, what are the major differences between the blackouts vs. emg's?
It sounds great, looks decent if it wasn't for the headstock.. Not a fan of Les Pauls easthetically, but the finish and the binding makes it look somewhat okay. The headstock is terrible though, and I'm generally a fan of this style. I've got a 7-string Jackson with this headstock, and that looks amazing because of the closer grouped tuners, and the asymmetry. The 6-string heads look like garbage and I much prefer the dinky heads over them. Especially reversed. Tasty tasty reversed headstocks.
Am I the only one who thinks that headstock looks badass? It’s different and fresh
@Gareth it's cool man
I like the schecter head shape
Would look better reversed
@Gareth i know man wish they did diffrent headstock on it, it puts me off buying it...
I think.....I died.
Hell Yeah!! My dream come true! Ola playing a Jackson! Thanks Man!
I have one in a purple finish, looks killer, sounds great, feels wonderfully. The best guitar I’ve ever owned so far
Got also same model, since early October and its fantastic

Looks awesome. Silverburst is my favorite finish.
The riff from the beginning was incredible! Anybody knows the song?
Down here looking for the same

i'm the only one who thinks that headstock still rocks on that guitar?, it looks pretty awesome, but the color... didnt work for me
nice review Ola
Love this guitar love to see a dominion headstock n 25.5 scale
Great guitar and thanks for the review Ola. Thumbs up for Patterns in the Ivy, good choice.
my favorite guitar.
I'm going to get a second one eventually
Those cleans on the neck sound awesome :O
I just ordered a slightly blemished ivory white one for 275 off for my first guitar I can't wait I'm just grinning the whole video. I think the headstock looks killer I think that's how a dedicated metal esp style guitar should look edgy and cool
Nice tone. Your playing reminded me of the more melodic side of Carcass.
Marty Friedman has been using this guitar for couple of years. No info about this axe so far though. Tks Ola!
Been digging Marty Friedman's custom Monarkh with the massive carved edge binding..
Beautiful Solo Ola !
Finally someone reviews this guitar that has the gain knob on the maximum!
Compound radius on a 24.75" scale with an oiled neck, plus blackouts? You have my attention. How is the fret job?
Looks just like an ESP Eclipse but with a different headstock shape
Exactly!
That looks like a Les Paul with a different headstock shape :)
Nope. Defos an Eclipse ;)
It's all single cutaway. But the body shape is so close to the ESP Eclipse, it's crazy. Haha

Hey Ola, those riffs at 0:17 are sick, is it one of the songs from The Haunted, Feared or Six Feet Under?
First riff sounded very Dying Fetus-ish. Awesome.
I like the guitar a lot, but that headstock...mmm, I think it doesn´t match the Les Paul body. Besides that, great guitar and great demo ;)
Maybe you have not noticed but this guitar is not a Gibson Les Paul!
@ Matt Nunes Maybe you have not noticed but he never said it was a Gibson.
+Matt Nunes , thanks for pointing that out. I'm blind and didn't notice that.
Its body is clearly a Les Paul shape, like it or not. And that's not a bad thing for me. I love Eclipses from ESP/LTD
ECLIPSES ARE THE BEST LP SHAPE GUITAR OUT THERE EXCEPT FOR SOME LES PAULS, BY THE WAY THE NEW 2017 LES PAULS ARE SO UGLY, THEY ARE SO DIFFERENT
I agree, something about the headstock is throwing me off, it looks great on other Jacksons but not on this one, in my opinion... Also, I'm not entirely sold on the finish...
4:06 that definitely answers my earlier question. That's Kill The Light if I've ever heard it ;)
Gotta love Jackson guitars!
fuck it the clean sounds like heaven!
oh man.. Your riffs.. your sounds just perfect that's all. You are the best, continu like that ! (sorry my english is not very good i'm french :$ )
Ола, когда будет готов закадровый трек в мп3? Звучит весьма круто)
epic riffs dayum
So many have asked it, but there's n answer so I'll ask again. What's the song played in the beginning? It's not The Haunted for sure.
The scarf joint is how the headstock is fitted to the neck. I'm not really sure if it does anything structurally tho 🤔
And did I hear a bit of patterns in the ivy? 👌
Will Ola get a Custom Shop guitar with Jackson, like a Masterbuilt Soloist or an Extreme King V? Check out more in the next episode!
Man ola just write the best riffs
Sounds fantastic but that headstock does not fit there. Jackson hockey stick would look better, in my opinion.
OLA .... NEVER FORGET ... LIFE IS SHORT !!!
Man u got all the best guitars in the world
just ordered one, be in my hands within 3 weeks. molded case too.
I'm getting one in the next week too, How do you find it so far? Are there any bad things about it? 😂
@@dr.psycho5606 i`ve had it over a year now, only thing i don`t like is the battery compartment. but still an awesome guitar.
Man, your lead playing is getting tasty. Ola!! Love the solo!
super sexy riff right there!
I reckon this is quite similar to that white Washburn Parallaxe Les Paul model with EMGs that you used before?
Ola crushing it as always \m/
Anyone know if this has the same neck profile, as my absolute fav jackson rr24?
pretty much the same neck. I cant tell the difference i have one as well as a dinky 7 string.
I knew you liked Opeth!! How can you not right?
I think this the best single cut guitar on the market
i would luuuv an 8 string version, silver burst is sooooo tasty!!
i personally dont dig too ponty headstocks for singlecuts... id go with prs or ltd ec
Seems like a direct competitor to the Washburn PXL20... Which you made a video with it too, from these two, which felt better? Cheers Ola!
was wondering if you could make a video explaining how the lock tuners work?. thx.
Is this the one that Marty Friedman has been using alot lately? Sounds killer!
I was just thinking about getting one of these now I'm convinced lol
i`d like to see a conversion, having the neck and head-stock of this guitar, attached to the body of a WRXMG.
Have you always fretted powerchords with your pinkie?
What would you go with
-Pro Series Sig Mick Thomson soloist sl2, 24 fret 25.5" scale with active Seymour duncans signature blackouts.
-Pro Series Monarkh SC, 22 fret 24.75" scale with Seymour Duncan black outs
I dont want a guitar with tuning issues, my epiphone gives me enough problems.
Or were their any others you would suggest to look at? I'm really after a fixed bridge with active pickups, with a really thin neck such and Jacksons to me have been the most comfortable. (Have not tried LTD or PRS).
Thanks Ola, I will get this guitar
Does the neck have a les Paul feel thicker fatter? or more like the thin Jackson necks like on the soloist styles?
Sounds awesome.

Hmm, 3+3 new style from Jackson I suppose (I saw this shape a lot especially since Broderick got his custom guitar). Well displayed, Ola. What's your string gauge on this piece?
10-52!
Ola Englund Does it wobble much? It is 24.75 though.
not too bad!
+Ola Englund Trash styles, sounds fking awesome.
i have one purple , what your setting sond killer
It sounds awesome. More reviews!
Sick song Ola!!!!!!!
There’s a little bit of video on your sponsoring xD.
Just kidding, Ola, you’re awesome!
Seems like an amazing guitar but I don't like that there are a volume for each pickup, that's just my opinion.
So it stays in tune better than a traditional les Paul?
Got one today looks just like the solar GC2.6 ola englund lol
If they reversed the headstock on these, I'd probably try to get one, even though I'm not a fan of Les Paul shapes or those types of bridges.
On a side note; what song were you playing in this video?
Is this the guitar that Marty Friedman has been using?
Awesome playong!! May be i'm wrong but i see the frets and fretboard work not so good..
How do you see that?
take a look at 01:09
I bought a silverburst rrtmg a couple years ago. I can confirm the binding work was shit. I wonder if I could put one of those FRX's on these
I want one of these.
How does the Jackson Pro series compare to the ESP E-II series?
looks great
Hey, Ola. Can you make a video about your green screen setup?
Radical new design...
HELP PLEASE - is this a thin neck? Also looking at an epiphone matt heafy signature les paul (heard amazing things about it). I prefer a thicker neck so it would really way into my decision. Also, what are the major differences between the blackouts vs. emg's?
Did you use the regular 5150III for this video? Or are you using the Stealth model featured in your other videos?
I don't know why but this thing just looks...awkward. That headstock shape with LP-style body just isn't doing it for me.
Ola, in the clean part, were you intentionally playing patterns in the Ivy by Opeth? Anyone else hear it?
made in Indonesia? I'm from Indonesia and all i can find here is crappy Jackson replicas
Oh the irony :)
On a serious note - are you for real? No way there aren't any official distributors in Indonesia.
+MrCorvusC yes.. for real mate and no official distributor
What song are you playing in the beginning? Sounds awesome!
what do you think about indonesian guitar factory?
It sounds great, looks decent if it wasn't for the headstock.. Not a fan of Les Pauls easthetically, but the finish and the binding makes it look somewhat okay. yes, they should have just put a reverse Jackson pointy headstock on this and I'd be all over it@!
Does the pro version have the edge rounded out where the forearm rests or is it squared off like a standard Paul body?
WhY doesN'T it HavE 24 FreTs !! :((((
You made me buy this guitar, in tobacco sun burst though. Thanks for making me spend money ola haha.
What is the song at 1:40 ?
The short scale kind of ruins it for me. I like at least a 25.5. I got big ol' hands and like to tune down to drop A.
Ola is reading a teleprompter!!! Ola designed a bad ass solar guitar.
Is this the guitar Marty Friedman has been using recently?
Though it needs to have at least a 26 inch scale imo, 24.75 is WAY too short for me.
What song is this?
Hey Ola!!! Is this a song in particular or did you just wrote it for this demo? Thanks \m/
for me the headstock doesn't fit to the lp style body
Hello +Ola Englund, in general, do you can take to yourself the gear that you review?
Thanks!
What amp are you using?
3:27 Patterns In The Ivy - Opeth
Would you still get this if you didnt play a ton of metal?
