I am currently a college student with no degree or professional experience and I just started the Google Data Analytics Certificate on Coursera. I'm leaving this comment to mark the beginning of my journey towards becoming a Data Analyst. I'm locking in and committing to this. I'll provide updates on how it's going every now and then. I started yesterday the IBM course also in Coursera. Best of luck! I am close to finishing my bachelor's in biology also I'd be glad to keep in touch as beginners and hopefully start advancing our careers if needed :)
this is the first "how to become a data analyst" video that didn't send me into a self-loathing spiral. This video gave me so much hope and clear steps. So many of the others cripple me with intimidation. Going into this line of work just feels like such an uphill battle, but this actually made it seem climbable. Thank you for giving me the hope to keep going.
I'm a junior in college at the moment studying Data Analysis, but unfortunately I have realized my college isn't actually preparing me for this career at all. I graduate next summer and I still don't have any technical skills. I am really grateful for your videos. I am a first-gen college student and I really hope to live a comfortable life without the struggles my parents had. I sincerely thank you for the wonderful information you give to people for free. I am going to work hard to follow a road map like this to reach my goals. Keep up the great work!

I am literally in the same position right now, first gen student, graduating next year with no experience and feeling like my degree hasn’t prepared me for the workforce. Give yourself some credit for taking the time out to research what to do outside of school and putting in that effort. I wish you the best for your career journey!

So true, I'm in a similar position rn I'm majoring in Business Analytics..and I'm confused as hell I got an internship but it was totally a field work ( involves surveying people ). I had to leave it few days ago because of the heavy pressure of achieving targets, and toxic work culture...I want to start all over again, it surely gave me a reality check, and made me doubt If I chose the wrong career or smth

Is started the Google D A course but it's learning style didn't suit me. It is a person talking and talking. I switched to IBM Data analytics certification and liked it. It is very concise and solid.
@@arefwahb7771hello! I would recommend it as far as you have absolutely no background or experience in tech or data analysis. It introduces what the role is and introduces the main tools you will need for the job but you won’t be an expert at the end. I would go through it and absorb as much as possible but continue to learn outside the course itself. I don’t think it looks bad on your resume, it’s a recognized industry one but won’t get you the job.
I have decided to focus on data analyst roles now, already expertbin Excel, 10 years of experience and teaching, already good at SQL, computer science software engineering degree, MBA. Power BI experience. I did, php, java, C, javascript... back in collegue 10 years ago. Now i need to do tableau. Get like 5 certifications this year.
This is so insightful. Im trying to transition from finance to data analytics. Hoping for the best. Currently learning SQL. Already took a course that helped me learn more on Python and Tableau. I just started the Google Data Analytics Certificate on Coursera on September 21 2024. This marks the new beginning me. I never thought i would interested in something like this but ive learned so much from just the 1st course im currently on (Module 3 in Course 1) its crazy how data can and is being used in this day and age! Im so ready to complete this certificate because i know a new life awaits. I'll been in touch as i progress forward along in this Google Analytics Certificate ❤

@SarahBurnette1007 no a basic 2010 pc could run coursera, to start the program, luckily most programs the google certificate uses are weblinks meaning no downloads
Hello, nothing yet. It's a weird time right now in the job market. While I'm still applying I have started the IBM Data analytics course. Just to compare the 2. Personally I like the IBM DA course. It goes more in depth than the Google DA.

This is awesome, I’m so overwhelmed with wanting to do everything. I really needed a structured roadmap. I do want to try to become an analyst in three months, so I might have to apply to other analyst roles. But this helps a lot!
It’s real I self studied python into advanced level SQL and took a non credited course on Excel but it took me a month and a half after I started to familiarize with a professional settings with project and bootcamp and just now I’ll be starting in 2 weeks professionally I manage to get my foot on the door but doing almost everything she said I may not have a job as a data scientist yet but now I’m getting the experience needed but I still intended to go to university for my own accomplishment, make my momma proud and for formalities 💪💪
started in nov- december. got my masters in business analytics. no luck with jobs but i got just of python and bettering myself with sql with data camp and working on tableau. i have 2 projects completed ! imma start a discord so we can grow together 😊❤

@@CelticSurferGaming I don’t blame you! I’ve been looking at remote careers/jobs to transition into. I was actually looking at business analyst as a possible career so I’m looking at options atm. I am looking at a bootcamp but they’re $10k. The value I see in those bootcamps are mentors and the network it offers. I haven’t fully made my decision yet to what I want to do. Keep me posted if you want to pursue anything.

I am currently doing my final year Psychology Major. I started to be familiar with data analysis due to the quantitative research method that we are mandatory to take. However, throughout my degree, I wasn't confident enough about my skills as semester can really go fast and I also have to catch up my other courses. And always told myself that it is impossible. However, this is my last semester and a new year, and I would like to start challenge myself to learn this data analysis skills. By 2026, I want to at least start a job/internship in entry data analysis. I will come back here Agatha. Thanks for your video.

I really appreciate this video! I don't know why I started to learn SQL for fun, but I ended up really liking it so I wanted to look into jobs that would use that skill. I am at an intermediate level and not done with my course yet but I was kind of lost on what to do after that. So I am a little out of order but I just made a whole roadmap based on this info and some I already had and feel like I have a much better plan of what I am doing and what to move on to next. I am spending about 4 hours a day on it so I think this time frame is doable for me!
