it’s nice to see the Sri Lankan local people don’t wanna rip-off the tourists as in some other Asian countries. That poor man said NO when you give him 5000 LKR. What an amazing people ❤
But actually on the other side it is a big big mistake I think to gave money for everyone. This is not the way how to solve problems. As a digital nomad traveller and not from America I for example don't have a lot of money. It is important for the situation. In Bali in Vietnam and also here in Sri Lanka ( I live here for 6 month now ) so many times the locals want to rip-off us because they see yeah he is white he is tourist he must have money. Behavior like this (giving money for locals, just because why not and giving extremly high tips, like last video of Davud where the drink was only 200 and he gave 1000) is really not good in a long term. I was in a situation when we were arrived to a hotel. An american guy infront of me just tipd 15$ to the guy who carreid his bag from the room which was like 20m away. Then the guy came to us picked up our bag even when we sad we don't need it, took the bag to the room and after that asked for money. When I gave him a little he sad it is not enough. Tuktuk drivers almost always want to ask double or tripple price because so many tourist pays them the extra. In a long term this will just hit up the prices everywhere, neverless makes people life a bit unpleasent to always argue with the drivers so on so one why it is not far to ask 15$ for a 20 meter walk. So I really against what Davud and some other youtubers doing here. There are many other ways to help a country economy. And for example Davud school project is one of them and I can relate to that project of his.

Anyhow, don't take it a wrong way, I'm not against Davud as he is a very kind and genuine person who I'm 100% just want to help. Only the way how he is doing it, sometimes maybe not the best way. For example instead of giving one kind people X amount of money, go to the village kade, buy rice and flour and pol in a huge amount from that money then invite the villagers to share across them. Whenever you so generously support the local people, especially in the villages, please give the money to the ladies, not to the guys, because a lot of the guys might spent it for alcohol , that is a waste. And 'Ranwara mal' , the flowers of Senna Auriculata is also such a great drink. In adition, Sri Lanka has so many healthy and delicious drinks and porridges, starting from "Kola kanda' to different different porridges making from traditional rice. (Not normal rices, there have more beneficial rice species which call as 'Al rice'. You should defenetly try them. ♥

The herbal tea you drank was from Belly flowers with Jaggery which is made out of Palmyra flower. They offered you Wade, a tasty finger food, which you didn't eat. Just type in the mobile and show the sinhala translation to village man/woman and they can easily read it. There is high literacy rate among my fellow lankans. Try it

That old lady first misunderstood you thinking that you were inquiring about liquor or some local toddy (a slang word for illicit liquor)😂. The herbal tea you drank was from Belly flowers with Jaggery which is made out of Palmyra flower. They offered you Wade, a tasty finger food, which you didn't eat. See these village's They use all naturally manufactured things like ratten plates for eating coconut shells for drinking and everything natural. Most thing are made out of clay or from nature.
These areas are really clean and tidy.
Even village s live in the village and come to these ares for their businesses, either farming or selling food and drinks to visitors.
Hope all tourists are local or foreign
Will keep these places neat tidy and clean for future generations .
As our ancestors have maintained it for us.
