Season 7 has a harsh counter pick meta in play where a lot of heroes see play that can force you to swap. Tank still is quite miserable, supports can do it all and DPS offer a great bevy of options to punish the tank or attempt damaging the backline.

I just hope we'll see some serious changes for the Tank role. Preferably no buffs, but nerfs to overall damage, healing and CC across the board. The role is horrendous to play and even with twice as many Tanks compared to OW1, it is still by far the least played role. For the role who is supposed to be the backbone of the team, it sure feels like you're playing a scared, glorified punching bag.
It's still insane to me how the OW devs buffed most of the tank buster DPS heroes for absolutely no reason and were surprised no one wanted to play the role anymore. Fighting Bastion, getting 3 tapped by Torb, and having to worry about Symm beaming you (Echo too) makes the role mad annoying to play.
And that's not even mentioning Ana anti nading or sleeping you literally every second you try to do something lol
And for half of the tanks you literally don’t do enough dps to kill anything bc the heal per second is so strong. That wouldn’t be a problem if u could miss on healer but u can’t. Everything is auto lock op bs in shooter game. They should balance support by making u have to aim on it so that way I can miss in heat of the team fight. And u can still have ur teammate saving op plays
@ForbidenXShadow yeah, I especially think life weaver and kiriko have pretty strong tracking on their heals which both heal a lot is an issue. Like OP said I hope healing is just nerfed in general

I would honestly be fine with just TRYING 6v6 again (with minor nerfs to tanks) just to see how it'd work with the new format. That, and I want to see the 2CP maps thrown into the quickplay pool just to see how things would go. Or they could like, you know. Use the experimental mode that they've been neglecting for years now
Rein’s win rate is so high in low elos bc if your team doesn’t have a Rein down their then they throw bc it’s the only tank they understand how to play with lmaoooo

No, we do not need buffs. Buffing characters into relevancy is what got us here. Support players felt helpless and low impact. Now they carry the game. LW got endless buffs now gets 20k healing in a 10 min game. Things just need to be scaled back a bit and that’ll bring the lower tier heroes back into contention.
I’ve been saying this , these bad balance updates are partially because the community complains before actually learning how to play …. I was master support season 1 and when I heard people complain I knew if they were buffed it’d be op and look now
Bro lifeweavers heals are busted. Every other fight he has tree. His flower just negates many tank ults. His pull grants immortality for a short while. His dps is actually busted up close where his accuracy is actually relevant.
The important part is too that none of his abilities are skill shots. His skill shot is putting the flower down under the orisa. At least Ana's abilities are skill related and can get negated themselves. And people complain about her like she's the problem.

@@metal100k it’s true. Ana has to earn everything she does. I don’t land all my shots, nades or sleeps but with LW is too forgiving and you really can’t mess up. That being said Ana does have among the strongest abilities in the game. I personally think tho that LW Bap and riko need tuning most.
@@arielcastillo3513 yes her abilities are the strongest but she is exploitable and she is entirely skill based. She has no press a button to escape ability. I never feel bad when an ana sleeps me and I die. But when lw and similar rotate their immortality and self burst heals, plus their mobility is frustrating.

Ya I quit tank last season. GM to unranked. I was a dva main. I got to play her less than a min per game b4 HARD countered by zar & other beams. So never got to play one of my fav most played characters anymore. And even my other proficient tanks, just constantly swapping over n over sucks

It’s so crazy when you look and see that most of the bottom tier characters are quite solid, but then the absolute domination of the S and A tier characters remind you of why they are so bad

I’d personally move kiri up to A, mercy up to B, and all the C tier dps up to B except tracer
Pro tip from a semi-casual player if you'll read it:
Give up on tank, become a support main, and have fun playing Counterwatch on dps. Its the only way i can have fun in this game anymore, and that's coming from a semi-casual player (mid plat to low diamond)
Counter picking is boring as hell. When Winston is meta the game is the most healthy fun and skillful btw. Respectfully as a Winston main.

Yeah yeah, 2x Shield was bad, but that wouldnt even exist anymore
And the whole bs counterswapping is not even close to be as bad as it is in 6v6
If we go back to 6v6 and wouldnt have 2x Shield, OW would be 100x more fun.
This is never going to happen and people need to stop talking about it. Overwatch 2 was literally BUILT around 5v5, we’d literally need an Overwatch 3 for 6v6 to come back.

I knew playing tracer was just feeling so off. Each time I land a pulse nuke just for no one to die. When you hear that stick notification you have to look at the killfeed cause 9/10 times something saved them. Boring. Finally got the understanding of her gameplay loop just for players to take out deployables. Main reason why i dont buy battle passes no more and log in only for a few games
I remember when Blizzard went on record to say, around the time OVW2 first released, that balance isn't about making things even across the board, its about making things fun. With Rein and Winston as low as they are on your tier list, it speaks volumes for the current state of the role, let alone the game. Kinda depressing.
The dps counter pickinh tank is so annoying and game killing. I legit had a game where the enemy dps just counter picked me every time I switched before they even died. It’s ridiculous and you are literally at the mercy of your dps, if your dps don’t switch to there tanks counter gg dawg

@@ReaveIdono sure, you can just say “skill issue git gud” but the truth of the matter is that, as a tank, you are powerless in the game if everyone decides to counterpick you. Its not even skillful, half the counters play themselves. It’s a fundamental issue, in which I have no idea how they’re going to fix. Shit is boring as hell. Dps and support get to have fun though.
@@McLovin-Chan If everyone is countering you then it's reasonable to change but you'll never win if you don't know how to play who you want to play at any given time. Also it sounds like you're not taking into consideration what your team has and how to manipulate the fight into their advantage while using your character.

Don't understand how everyone just realizing bastion is OP. He's been op since ow2 came out. Like people are scared to shoot zar not knowing he can take both bubbles and kill with turret. Only true counter is sig but a good bastion can easily bait him into using abilities before turret

Bastion is definitely OP right now, but not at the start of OW2. The character was just a niche pick, which is what he should always be, given how easy Bastion is to play. Blizzard should have tuned the recon mode, not buff the easiest part of Bastion’s kit.
Being a flex player right now makes this all hilarious especially when one tricks lose their mind

@alexander2019. Then they are not one tricks. Highly specialized players know how to deal with a multitude of scenarios both in their favor and not.

I’m gonna say it right now. I think Sombra is S tier. She is perhaps the best enabler in the entire game. Why? She is the greatest support counter right now. Hear me out.
All of Sombra’s abilities have short cool downs. Pair that with her perma stealth passive allows her to engage and disengage many times in a short period of time. Landing virus is does 110 damage, her bullets hit harder now, and her gun has zero spread the first few shots. This means she can insane amounts of damage every time she engages. And when she does so against the enemy support, two things happen.
1. The support responds too slowly and dies near instantaneously. And you can disengage and re-engage seconds later and threaten the other support.
2. You force support cool downs. But because Sombra has such low cool downs, she can run away and threaten them again mere seconds later at FULL FORCE. Prompting the support to use more cool downs to save themselves or they die.
Sombra also always gets the first hit with her element of surprise thanks to her invis making it near impossible to know where she is AND she can catch you off guard really easily. She can engage and disengage from better angles than tracer. She has 200 hp, so Illari can’t win the duel with just 1 body shot. She’s the best answer for turrets and pylons, as 1 virus and a few bullets can easily get the job done AND they won’t get healed for the most part. Add all this up and you find out she baits cool downs better and faster than tanks ever can. Which is a GOOD thing, because this enables the tank to actually make plays instead of just baiting cool downs all by themselves.
In the end, Sombra went from the most cringe brain dead counter to tanks, and evolved into the supports big bad wolf. So you better hide support players, because I’ve just become your worst nightmare.
She’s terrible against supports rn, most of them counter her easily. She’s definitely c tier

we dont need to buff tanks, but nerf everything else like damage, cooldowns and ult charge. i hate that "let's use 5 ults and win" mentality. work for your ult and dont just empty 2 mags for it

I haven’t played as much as I use to but I can say, I’ve quite often made a bastion rethink his life choices as Reinhardt with positioning and high risk high reward plays. Don’t ever underestimate rein, he can surprise you
Nah, Kirikio is still fucking cracked. Kiriko paired with any of the supports you have listed in S tier is a very good comp, especially Baptiste. Suzu and Kitsune are two of the best abilities in the game, the fact that she can also two-tap people with no damage falloff and has a TP out of jail free is the icing on the cake. Though I agree that Lifeweaver is very good, it is still infinitely easier to carry games with Kiriko, provided that you can land your shots.
Will mythic skins I'm not used to or know anything about them but i like that you can change the weapons or appearance depending on the hero. will they ever come back or is it you miss it gone forever?
Only think I’d change is that sigma should be A. Just barely above the rest cause poke is so strong

Here's the thing about lifeweaver. One that doesn't know when or how to use his ult is beyond useless and should switch off instantly.
His dash is great but with it's CD people get careless and use it the second they take damage, causing them to get into a wrong position.
Petal requires teamwork to really get the most use out of (unless you're just finding a high angle for yourself to heal safely from) and ofcourse lifegrip is great but I've seen a lot of lifeweavers pull their allies away when they weren't in any immediate danger of dying or were using their defensive.
i dont think mercy is bad. Im seeing a lot of mercy soujorn in gm getting value. In NA everyother game has a doomfist, she can infinite float and never die to him and pocket his targets/rev them.
Doesn’t really make sense to put mercy in C when she can still gets a lot of value pocketing pharah, echo, soldier, sojourn, and Ashe. Even with these supports crazy healing numbers a mercy pocketed dps can still completely take over a game
dont forget the extremely broken rez that can go through walls and takes like no time, once a mercy starts rez ur going to probably need like 2 ppl shooting at here before she can get the rez off

I see mercy in every game in GM. I have no idea how these other supposed GM youtubers put mercy so low when most games are won based on her holding down a button on a dps. Can’t imagine how bad it is for lower ranks due to how easy she is to play

Bastion, Mei, and Hanzo obviously belong in the S tier but that would counter the whole narrative that only supports ruin the game so we can't do that. 🤭
i would drop zarya down to c and move sig to the top. zar just gets burned so fast through bubbles that she cant sustain at all and sigma only dies if he messes up his cooldown cycle

You're way off on your Pharah analysis. Putting her in A-Rank because she can hit deployables does not make up for the fact that she is one of the easiest heroes to counter-pick. Her ult has been left far behind and her counters have been getting buffed or added to.

I'm surprised kiriko isn't rated higher just for The fact that suzu counters basically every cool down and every ultimate in the game. People might argue that life Weaver can just use his e or his old but that's the thing tree is an ultimate and he only gets one person with his regular cooldown. Suzu is just a one press button that counters half the game
Ok, but so is Lamp. And his damage is more consistent, nevermind his shift. You just can't get that much done on Kiriko.
Kiriko is usually good at countering tank ultimates, but I guess tanks aren't impactful anyway so it's not strictly necessary.
People are still stuck in the Kiriko release mentality, she's behind a lot of healers right now, just having Suzu isn't enough now. Let's not forget her climbing and teleport are still bugged.

@@kingoverseas9052 The only difference between Kiri now and release is you actually have to be good on her now. She's fundamentally the same character just slightly less forgiving in some ways. The reason she is behind other supports is cause most supports literally play themselves and she actually requires atleast 5 brain cells

Anyone else disturbed by how easy lifeweavers just negate grav/orisa ult. Its just *SO* easy. And by the time you get it out the fight is either won or lost.
Tracer not being at least A tier means there’s a balance issue

New Sombra is extremely good against rushing and diving tanks. Rushing and diving in means often playing below half life and if a sombra hacks you, you cant use your abilities and will fall over in a short period of time. This isnt fun at all, because youre practically forced to play defensively, which is totally boring most of the time.

How do I deal with a grouped team with Bastion, Mei, and Brig? Even a headshot with widow won’t kill them and I die so quickly. Soldier can never finish off anything and feels like I’m shooting bullet sponges.
The only options I can think of is Cassidy non stop headshots, and Hanzo. I refuse to join their boring playstyle
eyyy some tank clips. Nice job, Boomer. I approve of starting the tank list at B tier...because you're right that's how it feels these days. FYI my great uninstall tantrum lasted about 3-4 weeks. Tank role still in a rough spot...but even so there's just nothing quite like OW.
Man I wish supports were amazing in low tier like they are in high tier. Everytime I play it doesn't feel like Healing is OP
That Widowmaker comment is so extremely on point, right? I come out, I dominate shit for anywhere from the first half a round to the first round and a half, then they counterpick and I'm just _done_. I'm getting better at making myself switch off but it's my favourite role, so it's frustrating.

I’m takin a break from OW, I think it took a little time for the dismal future of this game to set in after the reveal that Blizzard knew PVE was failing and covered it up to maximize OW2 launch profits. Little patches won’t bring back the magic of 2017

When our tank goes Ball or Doom a loss is almost guaranteed because they have no clue how to play them.

Master here, for the beginning of the game and at some points. But most of my help on reaper is me staying next to a tank and pushing forward things.
guess I'm finally learning this game cause I agree with everything. Well, all except one. I think ball is the worst tank by far. Most of the best characters in this patch can easily counter ball. And by counter I mean might as well stay in spawn. You just need to win one fight and I guarantee you'll see Orisa, mei, symm, bastion, ana, etc on the next fight. Good luck hitting a single pile driver with ana and orisa on the enemy team. And if they go sym the turrets will make you lose speed all the time.

Love seeing Sombra ranked so low because she "can't do stuff to tanks and is good at taking out squishies" when tanks are in their worst season ever. How does that make any sense.
Because her entire playstyle against tanks has been gutted for a healer assasin play style, but the problem with this is that supports are basically unkillable so she kinda sucks.

Well, Good news is that if as many adjustments are going to happen in midseason patch as I think there will be, I'm excited if Widow might get a buff due to the Sombra Rework now being very oppressive. Widow got hit hard by Mobility Creep, her Grapple Hook is nearly double the amount of Cooldown as some of the faster DPS and Supports that have been released. Would be happy if her Venom mine also had a bigger explosion radius, and longer enemy reveal time.

Not even a hot take on the tanks. Sure, when you look at them individually, they have good stuff, but once you throw in all the other players/roles, you can barely move.
Because the dps and supports are just teaming up to counter you and make sure you can’t do shit
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who can't stand comp this season. It's just... not fun. I think it's time to finally admit that 5v5 was an overcorrection. Losing stuns and lowering shield health were both smart choices but losing tank combos removed a lot of potential for fun and innovative gameplay and turned the single tank role into "Counter-Pick Simulator 2023".
I'd rather counter pick simulator than 2 tanks that deny all the damage and CC and closing off flank routes.

@@CERTAIND00M I play all 3 roles actually. Tank is my 2nd highest play time behind Support. It's just that I understand strategy enough to not instantly swap if I see the team go Sym/Mei when I'm playing DVA. I just use map geometry/high ground more often depending on what my team is playing.

Reaper should be higher cus he enables other tanks in my experience but yeah good vid
his is definitely a diamond or higher Tier List. Gold and below they don't focus the Mercy and she'll keep almost any tank alive or pocket a forgiving DPS like Soldier or Bastion and team kill everything. I think streamers and UA-camrs too often forget that 80% of the people watching their videos can't relate to these lists because that's not how the game is played at their ranks. It's not Overwatch, it's team deathmatch with endless dumb mistakes.
I'm just glad Blizzard doesn't ignore casual players. After all we're the ones buying all their skins.

This is the least enjoyable season in the entire game. Tank is an absolute garbage fire of a role and is completely miserable to play. And the queue times for every other role is too long. This game isn't fun to play anymore at all.
I’m concerned that the devs didn’t acknowledge the issues that the tank role is experiencing. Nerf supports, remove passives and let’s fix the tank role.
First and foremost, props to you for being one of the only content creators to put Reaper at the bottom of the DPS list. However, I feel he should be no where near Sombra on this list as many of the reasons you put her in C tier are just skill issues (which are going to be natural when talking about a freshly reworked hero no one has had time to properly learn). I feel Reaper should be placed at the bottom of the *entire* list because not only are his counters meta, but he is incapable of doing consistent damage like the other heroes because of his incredibly short range. Meaning, all of the Supports are able to out heal any damage he does beyond 5m which makes him less useful than even Reinhardt who still has firestrike for finishing low health kills (same with winton).
No way you are putting my girl Ashe in b tier she is the epitome of poke damage and she keeps enough distance to effectively counter the turret meta
I don’t care about doing a lot of damage I just care about helping my team and giving them space to do whatever. I do like to have the ability to CC though.

No way people are still crying about Mercy
Ive been trying to tell people that this rework is much worse than her old kit. As he said, hackijg a tank is damn near useless unless youre hacking a doom or ball. You can flank but she punishes people who are out of position. If they are all huddled up, youre not killing anyone! Her damage isnt enough and healers are too strong for her to melt someone.
Also, she has that delay of coming out of stealth before she hacks, which can suck if they are together. Better off with the old hack 30% damage boost kit than this!
