My wife is the wristlock queen, only because she was a Roger Ruiz protege 😂

At your academy as a brand new white belt I'm assuming you guys immediately start sparring? Or do you guys have some technique you can show the newbies or are they just thrown to the wolves

@averageguybodybuilding new people always get a bit of one on one time the first day with someone. They go over some very basic things like pulling gaurd and a few escapes. Then then they join the normal class. Which does include rolling. However, their partner will typically be told hey its ther 1st, 2nd or 3rd day for example. This way, their partner knows to take it easy and typically walk through the fundamentals. But after that first day, they join the normal class, which almost always includes 1 or 2 techniques, drilling it and then rolling after.

@@40ANDFIGHTING actually a matter of fact we can't roll until we are blue belt. Until then it's strictly just learning certain principles

@averageguybodybuilding are you at gracie university? Not all gracie schools are like that, as we are at a gracie humaita. We had a blue belt come to our school from there, he didn't last to long. I think it can have it's purposes training that way. But it's very dependent on your goals, where you are in life, ect.

@@40ANDFIGHTING I do go to a Gracie University but I will say I think it's person to person because we have some amazing people at all belts. I also like the fact that at the beginning you're learning more street self-defense and then going into more competition. As a very competitive wrestler in my days I love it. But to each his own God bless 🙏
