- In Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16 published in August of 1982 - the second Captain Marvel was introduced to the Marvel Universe. Monica Rambeau claims the name of Captain Marvel. But can she stop Fort Benning Georgia from being destroyed? What does an old friend of her grandfather want? Why isn't there more Spider-Man in this Annual?

Monica Rambeau was the best most popular Captain Marvel, she should have been introduce first in my opinion in the MCU. Marvel should have capitalize on this character being the most well know then any other, hopeful Marvel bring her in on a big event in the MCU from Disney Plus.
Stoked to see how the handle The Marvels. Hoping they return to Project Pegasus and its shown as a modern facility. Would be awesome to see a certain blonde haired fellow with Quantum bands show up as head of security. One can dream.
Not a Monica Rambeau fan but, I keep coming back for the top notch commentary. Appreciate your work on this.
Welcome back to cosmic comics video number 2 boy did we miss you thanks for bringing back Marvel.....now I'm about kick back and enjoy 36mins of comic heaven
I'd like to welcome you back! Thanks for watching!
If the algorithm works more correctly after the Captain Marvel movie came out, as well as Wanda and Vision. This would have far more viewers I’ll be one of the first search results!
Wow, the art in this is so vibrant! I kinda wish this Captain Marvel had made an appearance in Secret Wars 2015, seems like the whole idea of universes colliding would be a throwback for her
Something new the goat still lives 👑🐐🔥
Thanks for the kind words!
Hey, Ive recently found your channel...great stuff! Your review/story telling approach is top notch, and a VERY rare find! Hope to see more soon 😊 subscribed! (P.s.) Nova! 🤜⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can't wait for your next video 🕷️👨🏻🕸️🦸🏻♂️
Just got done moving halfway across the country. More content coming but I have to get settled first. Thanks for the comment!
Great video ! Loved the content ! Glad to see this pop up tonight 😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job again! Spidy's got to keep that slapping hand strong! Hahaha!
Your videos are always top notch. No unnecessary BS. Just well researched and edited information with a little bit of commentary. Much appreciated!
Thanks! Some of my early videos are a little more crass and crude but YT was a wilder place back then and it takes a channel awhile to find its footing. This has been my slowest production year to date due to moving in February and most likely changing houses again before the year is up. More content is coming, but its going the be a trickle for minute. Thanks for watching!
An underrated but powerful character 💫💫
Still the best comic book channel on youtube. When are you coming back? Hope all is well with you and your loved ones
Yes.
Moved, still sorting things out.
Where are you? I just found your channel a few months ago, binged your content and you cut us off! Your take on the medium is great, I think this channel could really blow up. If possible ( I've heard you mention the "real job") do more episodes, I look forward to seeing them!
I am here. Think about the channel daily. Hoping I am settled enough by October to start working on vids again
Good length good audio good editing
Happy Holidays cosmic comics
I subscribe to the channel last week. I love it! I always liked Monica Rambeau a lot.
Seriously love Spectrum! She's definitely one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe!
In my head, it feel like a short period of time she was Captain Marvel but it was 14 years. Probably be awhile before I come back to her. Got to knock out some more Warlock and Mar-Vel first. Thanks for the sub!
I’m glad you went back to the Marvel Comics content , after 3 years , I was not expecting Spawn .
I love me some Spawn. My audience, not as much. All good. Needed a break from Marvel.
I love it! Keep the videos about classic Marvel coming and I swear I will watch every one of them at least once. :) Good job.
I really don't know ,by all the search and need for diverse characters that Disney obv had, how do you not bring in Monica as the first Captain Marvel in the MCU? I guess Monica was not powerfull enough, they wanted a lesbian Wonderwoman/Superman-character. ;) Bad choice, I hate how they blew up the role of Carol.
Loving this. People don't understand that first female captain mavel was dark skinned. It's shame it did not play way in the moives.
One of the recent-ish additions to her lore that I really like is that she’s now been revealed as a mutant.
Makes sense, mutants drawing power from pocket dimensions has always been a kind of subclass within mutantdom: like Scott’s lasers or the Dark Dimension users.
It makes me wonder though if she’s actually thematically related to Illyana with her control over Limbo in someway because their x-gene activated from being exposed to a different dimension. Maybe they are a sub-sub-class of mutants like the Lupines are for animal types.
I’d be very grateful to know if anyone has any insight into this!
Good info. Haven't followed her recent developments
Made the name her own. Led the Avengers. Marvel? Downgrade powers, strip her name (twice or thrice), and relegate her to the side character. Sad. Love her. Even did a video series on her.
I think many writers have a hard time coming up with stories for high powered cosmic characters - once they get too OP its hard for a character to be on a team anymore. And marvel doesn't really do long running solo books anymore outside of their flagship characters. At least they didn't do her as wrong as Quasar. As of the latest Guardians of the Galaxy annual he's been relegated to a Rick Jones type situation with Avril Kincaid. Last time I saw them swap was b/c nobody wanted Wendell around. He was chastised BY PHYLA-VAL!!!! for not switching out to the "Quasar" the situation requires. It was more of "a job for a spy than a super hero" - so they chose Avril only b/c she was a SHIELD agent who was taught stealth. Excuse me? But does writer Al Ewing or editor Dan Shan or Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski not know that Wendell Vaughn graduated with full honors from the SHIELD academy. But he lacked the "killer instinct" to become a field agent? Pushing him to the background, reverse gendering him for a second time, and now - turning him into Rick Jones. Wendell Vaughn has become Rick Jones and the people he's hanging with prefer the 'other' Quasar. Ouch.
I saw The Eternals and as a fan of the comics I think I better understand the beef you had with Captain Marvel. Still, the existence of a film adaptation (even one that vilifies its original main character and removes any possibility of a potential explanation for the X-Gene should Marvel Studios plan on introducing the X-Men in the future and I swear I’m honestly not still bitter about the changes they made no siree) doesn’t preclude or prevent the original comics from existing or from me enjoying said comics. Also you should totally make a PO Box so people (myself) can send you stuff.
PO box in June, right after I move
Hoping Marvel redeems themselves with the Marvels
I heard somebody say and I kinda agree - The Eternals was Marvel's first DC movie.
Monica can have me any day with that body. Whew!!
But seriously, She’s never ever been used as well as this issue. C’mon Marvel!!
Somewhere someone asked about the (skrulls) cows and if anything happened to the cows after, and I go into softcore shellshock timewise. Because my impression the cows had lifes after I think throughout your channel they get back into the picture about 3 times, however I am very much out of touch! Will dig right back in here. *Play* *Sip* *Spark* Take it easy he said, well I hope that was the last time I take your advice Cosmic. :P I used to take pride in immersing in the stories quicker then you run from your shadow!
Marvel Fandom Wiki should have you covered 👍
I to want to here more story’s on the second Captain Marvel
Will be a minute before I come back to her - got some more Mar-Vel and Warlock to cover first
Man I miss you cosmic
Still here. Happy people still want more content. Working on it
I miss making content for subscribers
I love the crossover of Spider-Man and Photon. I wish they can team up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Same.
@@_Spectrum_288 You think so?
@@JJ-oq3tz Yeah. It would be really nice to see on screen.
@@_Spectrum_288 Same here
@@JJ-oq3tz 😊👍👍
The Best Captain Marvel.
Are you open to making power scaling contend ?
Peter having to act like he wasn't a pervert kinda makes it seem like he is definitely a pervert. At least he tried? Nah, still creepy.
Peter was 100% creep'n on Monica
Hay quick question:Who is the real counterpart of The one above all ? One below all or oblivion?
I've been waiting for the dust to settle on some of these questions before starting up my Marvel Hierarchy series once more. Little did I know it would take several years to unwind. TOAA and TOBA have been revealed to be the same entity but opposite sides of the coin. One creates while the other destroys. I still see Oblivion as being the Anti-TOAA. As opposed to the different side of the coin, Oblivion represents an absence of the coin. Other than one Great Lakes Avenger's appearance (that in oppinion was written more as tongue in cheek than canon) - Oblivion can't directly interact with reality, and that's why he has to use pawns/minions/heralds to do his dirty work for him. I think one of the big stories Marvel is missing is when the new Cosmos was created, Oblivion was not given his chance to reign surpreme within the period of that absence as he had been previously. This is the balance struck between Oblivion and Infinity. So, as far as I see it - Oblivion is currently owed his due and I would love to see something upon the lines of The King in Black or Infinity Gauntlet with Oblivion at the center of it all. Quasar's "Cosmos in Collision" story arc is begging to get put into the MCU
@@Cosmic.Comics Honestly I think TOAA is slightly more powerful than both Oblivion and TOBA but I think Oblivion can’t be destroyed because he’s nothingness and he’s probably a paper where TOAA(writer) draws on.
Yaaaaasssss the real Captain Marvel!!!
I think she was the seventh Marvel but the first human Marvel. 👍🏽

8:05 Patrice oneal talk about this once black woman are warlike :)
I recommend you watch "White woman are just more pleasent"
Loved the original. Not what they have done to her. She was always powerful but like so many others. That is not enough. Then just didn't like the stories they have done at times. The artwork was great back then too. Anymore it's hit and miss. Not sure what qualifies some of these artists anymore. But they also have hired people to do comics and art that don't like comics even. See safespace and snowflake writers/artists. It's not about story and good characters anymore. it's about agenda pushing.
Lol.
Young white guy creeper smacks super powered energy manipulating black woman and doesn't get incinerated. Ha, ha, ha 😲
Never liked this character. The costume was part of that (yeah, I'm that shallow), but like you mention she continually disregards the safety of others (thousands of others) and lacks any personal appeal. A female jerk is one way to shatter the glass ceiling but... why?
Same reason I don't like Green Goblin. Ugly. I do like turning the narrative on its head by pointing out when the 'good guys' do bad things. It's almost always a case of lazy writing over intention - but still
Lmao, there's nothing wrong with her 🤣🤣
Why are you inserting such biased commentary against her in this video? It's rather ridiculous, annoying, and a bit misogynistic (if not a little racist).
You're attempting to make her out as selfish, reckless, and even a bad harbor patrol person when, in truth, she's a character with new and frightening powers that she doesn'tunderstand. .
Her actions can easily be explained as her searching for help with controlling these powers.
As opposed to attempting to malign her, perhaps you could be a little more understanding. Remember, she's a hero. Not a villain. You offer more empathy to the the oil rig hired muscle then to her. Your "devil's advocate" arm-chair commentary is extremely uncharitable.
It's not biased - it's my personal oppinion.
I try to give heroes credit where it is due. If I focus on Monica more than the oil workers, it's because she is the focus of the story and the one who continues to have a history in Marvel comics. She's the hero. I'm usually very harsh on heroes in my videos as I take a critical approach that attempt to look past a given narrative. I love Marvel but remain critical of them.
It's going to be awhile before I come back to Monica - but this story makes a great contrast point to how she acts in the future as the leader of the Avengers. I don't attempt to make her out to be anything here - but it is my interpretation of the writer and artist work. But that doesn't mean I don't think that future writers do a MUCH better job than Roger Stern did in this introuduction.
I give plenty of credit where and when it is due with various heroes. My biggest prolem with this particular origin story has been how Monica acts. That has nothing to do with her race or gender. You call me out for being mysoginistic and racist - where and how? I am open to criticism but none of my critiques of Monica in this narrative have to do with her race or gender.
This is a character I love but I think her origin story was approached from the wrong direction. An editor should have caught this.
And yes, she is a hero which is why I hold her to a higher standard. I produce videos at a very slow rate but I eventually plan on getting back to Monica although it will most likely be years. Stick with me and maybe you'll eventually see the contrast I put forward.
This isn't about who she becomes but who Roger Stern presented to us. And personally, I think he could have made her more heroic. But that also gives the character room to grow.
@@Cosmic.Comics She's fine.
