West Indian here. In the Caribbean we wash our meats in a bowl of water with either citrus like lemons/limes or vinegar. Less about germs and more about getting rid of that funky animal smell. Changes the entirety of the taste of the dish. If you KNOW, you know. Just be sure to clean up properly after.

And all the natural flavor goes down the drain. That’s why the Caribbeans have to season the help out of everything they cook because they done washed all the natural flavor away.

We do this as well. Wash it with water or a quick rub with lemon/citrus until no longer slimey - real game changer specially for people who are very sensitive to the gameyness of meats (they exist).
That bit about stripping away the natural flavors is cap. Guy doesn’t cook at all 💀

Washing chicken makes zero sense logically. All you are doing is trying to wash the outside of the chicken, the inside is still exactly the same as the outside (i.e. has bacteria, salmonella etc.), you aren't washing that so what are you actually doing? Cooking is the only way to "wash" the chicken.
If you want to remove the smell of the meat then you can brine/marinade it.
Washing is doing nothing but spreading germs unnecessarily.

I love you Bobby, but, that one is a hard no go for me! I'm going to continue to wash my chicken with water, vinegar and lemon juice. Just in case the nice people who packed my chicken dropped her on the floor and just picked her back up and put her back on the conveyor belt. So, no she needs to take a bath first. And after she's taken care of I will wash my sink with bleach and dawn dishwashing liquid. 😊🤎🥂
