He is a completely normal, down to earth guy who has a lot of friends because of his genuine personality. He is also insanely famous, so what are you talking about? When you'll be able to see the difference, I'm pretty sure you will agree with what I'm saying here. Honestly dude, what place to present an idea or product is better than TEDTalks ? I mean, of course, maybe it doesn't have THAT many views here on youtube (all though I would say it kinda does, innit ?), it's more about the people attending those conferences and the AFTER the concerence word of mouth spreading into the real world. I think this is the optimal forum where this creative genius should present his idea, product and demonstrate how it works through a performance.

    He didn't name it. They did. And his input was essential, in that they wouldn't have made it if he hadn't pulled them together and presented his ideas. He doesn't claim to have built it, but it's a fact that it wouldn't exist without him being involved. He's the idea person. Without an idea, you don't have a project, and a group of programmers who aren't live performers couldn't have come up with this idea alone. It's a collaboration, and Beardyman hasn't at any point tried to hide that fact.

    As a fan of experimental music, I love the production and shows he puts on, but the message of the voice's possibilities is a bit lost after he straps on half a ton of electronics and cycles the signal through looping machines.

      @raerth 5 років тому +18

      ok, 5 years without reply so I apologise for the notification.
      The main difference here is that he can create all these soundscapes spontaneously. It's not the creation of 3 months of production in a studio.
      Beardyman can put out in a random UA-cam jam session what some artists struggle for months with in composition and production.

    • @cleatussfmo7437
      @cleatussfmo7437 5 років тому +7

      @@raerth yes, he can do it quickly. But to claim it is nothing but voice is a fallacy. The electronic manipulation involved makes it so this isn't voice at all. Yes, the original tone is created with voice, but then it is twisted, wadded, and crumpled to make it what it is...meaning it is nothing more than computer generated sounds.

    • @raerth
      @raerth 5 років тому +16

      @@cleatussfmo7437 He doesn't claim it is nothing but his voice. He claims that he uses no samples other than what he inputs using his voice. There is a distinction there.
      If you want to see Beardyman using only his voice, here's a good example: ua-cam.com/video/S7GGkKpBR-g/v-deo.html

    It's not just some sampling rig. It's the Beardytron 5000, basically an advanced live looping DAW developed by Beardyman and a bunch of people he brought together to put it together. It's a real thing, and he's essentially beta-testing it on his "one album per hour" tour. Look it up. He's not using a bunch of samplers. All those devices on the rig are just controllers for one computer, and he lead the project to develop the software.

    What he says is kinda bullshit in a way, fair enough they're no samples already programmed but hes sampling himself on the fly, like he has for years with chaos pads. All that is is post processing, be it quite quick, but I find the less technical tricks Beardyman uses the more his unreal talent shines through. If you want to see how class he is youtube "beardyman aphex twin"

    • @Lejundairy
      @Lejundairy 9 років тому +1

      +cmomofilm I think the point of this Talk was less about him and more about showing off the machine, and it can turn a human voice into produced sounds almost instantly.

    • @cmomofilm
      @cmomofilm 9 років тому

      Lejundairy Why use a guy who does exactly that for a living, using only his own voice then? Hardly shows off the soft/hardware.

    • @Lejundairy
      @Lejundairy 9 років тому +1

      cmomofilm But he doesn't do exactly that. Like he said, you can only do so much with loopers and Kaos pads. They don't automatically equalize and modulate everything for you, but this machine can. He can't mimic reverb, delay, pitch shifting like he said. His voice can only go so high or low, and the pitch-shifter allows him to go high or lower than his vocal range. Like he said, the purpose of this machine is to allow him to make ANY sound he can imagine, not just the many that he is already capable off.
