    Hi Richard, I am thankful for the videos you've been creating. They are awesome and really helpful!! I have a question here and hopefully you can see and answer it. I am interested in Rotman, and I also want to continue to study science because that's what I've been working on since high school. However, those courses are only offered in the other 3 campuses. Is this a possible scenario, or you can only attend school and study business in Rotman??
    Thank you so much!

      First of all great question and thank you for your kind words😁 So Rotman is a program within St. George campus (which is one of the three campuses you mentioned) and as far as I know you can attend Rotman commerce and take sciences as your electives. However I would also highly recommend that you contact the university about this to double check with them. I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. I wish the best of luck to you in the future!

    I really want to go to UofT architecture, psychology or life sciences. I wanted to know what averages should you be at to safely secure a spot at uoft? Also, do extracurriculars matter a lot because the only club I've ever joined was chess and I also did gr10 waterloo math contest before. I've also volunteered for tutoring.

    Hey Richard, did you play any games when you were still in high school? If you do, how many hours do you play every week? And what do you normally do when you don’t feel like doing any work... because I am a grade 11 student right now and I am sooo annoyed of having absolutely 0 motivations but I just can’t focus on the works I am supposed to do...

    • @RichardHan
      @RichardHan  3 роки тому

      Great question, so I didn't really play games in high school (and I still don't) mainly because I wasn't good at any games and I would say I was much more "free" in high school compared to now. When I didn't have motivation to do work in high school I tried to read books & talked to my friends and that seemed to work for me!

    Hi there! thank you for making such helpful videos. I'm interested in the life sci program at u of t. Do they place emphasis on extracurricular? I don't have many extracurricular but I have a pretty good average that is above the cut-off average for the program. Any thoughts? Also did you get any automatic scholarships during admission?

    • @RichardHan
      @RichardHan  4 роки тому +2

      Great question, so I think uoft in general places emphasis on grades. It's known to be a very academic school and I personally think they focus more on grades rather than extracurricular activities during the application process. However this does not mean that they do not look at your extracurricular activities (but I wouldn't worry too much if you don't have many extracurricular activities). Also Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any automatic scholarships. I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. Hi Richard! I would first say "wow" and hope you're doing great in your uni. I was looking through some videos on Canadian Universities and I found you.
    You've really made everything clear and cohesive! Thanks for that! Although it made my stats & extracurriculars look crap...😂
    I'm not sure if you'll be able to read my chat, but I'd really appreciate it if you could answer me. So, let me introduce myself first. I'm currently in Grade 12 in the Philippines. My school does not offer AP classes and IB programs. I'm from a K-12 school! My average ranges from 94~95. And I really don't think I can go to U o T or UBC with these score. I was preparing for my SAT, but due to the pandemic, my SAT are in risk of getting canceled. And during my research, I found out that Canadian Universities implemented this policy for fall 2021 students to optionally include your SAT score or not. This did somehow gave me some hopes regarding my admission; however, I'll be competing with brilliant Canadian & International students. I really think my chances are low if I choose not to include my SAT. I'd love to hear your opinion about this or any infos😭😊
    And as for my extracurriculars, it's not stronger than anybody or unique. I recently started an Instagram page (psych.4.you) to spread awareness on psychology (which is the major I'm planning to study) and I played soccer for my school for 4years. I have a few volunteer works, an award of extemporaneous speech, and lastly I was a secretary of COMELEC for a year (student council election member). I know that my extracurriculars are no different than others. And due to corona, I'm restricted to go out and do some volunteer works😭
    Are there International students like with no Ib and AP in U of T? And do you think I have a shot at getting into U o T or UBC with my stats?👉👈

      First of all thank you so much for your kind words, I am very glad my videos were able to help you and great questions👍👍 I would first like to recommend you to watch my other video "HOW I GOT INTO UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO & UBC (Grades, Extracurricular, Video Interviews)"( ua-cam.com/video/31dreUsO2TI/v-deo.html ). Since I am not an international student I am not too sure how much this SAT situation will affect your chances but I do think you have a great chance just by looking at your grades/extracurricular activities. Once you watch my other video you will realize that it's very important for you to really showcase what you learned through school/extracurricular activities. Show them what you learned through creating an Instagram page, volunteering and playing soccer.
      한국말로 물어본 건 한국말로 답변해 줄게. 나는 개인적으로 인종차별 문제는 못 느껴본 거 같아, 그리고 내 생각에는 대학생 때부터는 파티를 가던 술을 안 마시던 그런 건 신경 안 쓰는 거 같아. 파티와 술 말고도 사람들을 만날 방법은 많으니까 걱정 안 해도 될 거 같아. 그리고 네가 지금 걱정하는 건 당연한 거니까 전혀 미안해할 필요 없어. 항상 화이팅 하고 좋은 결과가 있기를 바랄게👍👍
      If you have any further questions please let me know and I wish you the best of luck in your future👍👍!

    Hello Richard! I have been watching your channel for the past month now and it has really boosted my confidence and ambition of getting into U of T. Lately, I have been having concerns regarding my grades and the courses I have taken. I totally understand that you are not an admissions expert and that science may not be your strong point but I would really appreciate it if you could answer my question based on what you know.
    I am currently in grade 11 and I am planning on applying to either Life Sciences or Math and Physical Sciences in the Arts and Sciences faculty later this year. As of right now, I have taken four grade 11 sciences in my school. Unfortunately, I have only taken one grade 12 science course which is chemistry 12. By the time I submit my applications to U of T, I will still be in progress of completing Bio 12, Physics 12, and Calculus 12 and will not have done any AP courses. Unlike me, many people I know have already completed at least two grade 12 sciences and Calculus 12. Do you believe I will be at a disadvantage compared to students who have already taken a larger quantity of advanced courses? (excluding AP)
    I sent this exact question to the U of T admissions person but I expect they will say that they only consider whether or not you have met the requirements of courses you need to take to enter the program. However, I feel there will inevitably be favouritism towards those students who have taken a lot of grade 12 and advanced courses during the admissions process.
    그리고 질문하나 더 있어요. 근데 물어보기가 너무 죄송해서요ㅠㅠ 대학이랑 전혀 상관없지만, 형은 연애하는시간과 공부/숙제하는시간과 어떻게 balance하세요? 사실 제가 모쏠이여서 대학가서 연애를 좀 경험 하고싶거든요... 근데 개인적으로 공부랑 숙제에 시간을 너무많이 투자해서 특히 연애랑 친구들이랑 만날시간이 없을까봐 되게 걱정돼요ㅠㅠ. 물론 시간이 지나면 익숙해질텐데 지금 고등학교에서도 시간관리를 너무 못해서 혹시 조언해주거나 팁 알려줄수 있으면 너무감사해요 형~ 그리고 화이팅하세요!

      Hey Jaden! thank you for your great question. First of all it's great to see some Korean viewers on my channel😁😁. First of all I want to say that my answer to your first question may not be very accurate, because as you know I am not an admission expert but I will try my best to answer it. I had the same problem in high school because my school didn't offer AP classes, so my school had to send me to a different high school so I could take their AP Calculus class. I think AP classes don't necessarily boost your chances of getting into uoft unless these AP classes are one of the prerequisites for the program you want to get into. I will be honest, taking AP classes will help you once you get to uoft because you will already know some of the stuff you will learn in your first year. However as far as I know I don't think it affects your chances of getting accepted to uoft.
      두번째 질문은 개인적인 질문이니까 내가 한국어로 답변해줄께 ㅎㅎ. 내 생각에는 이건 캐이스 바이 캐이스인거 같어. 형은 개인적으로 대학에서 연애를 해봤는데, 토대가 조금 빡세서 여자친구한테 투자하는 시간이나 너가 좋아하는 여가생활을 할시간이 고등학교때보다 많이 없을꺼야. 그래서 일단 너가 토대에 한번 와보고 만약 너가 공부를 해봤는데 시간이 너무 없어서 여자친구한테 소홀할꺼같고 너가 여가 생활도 즐기지 못할꺼같으면 일단 1학년때는 연애는 비추할께. 하지만 너가 모든 시간을 정확하게 배분할 수 있는 힘이있다면 옆에 여자친구가 있는건 큰 힘이되니까 그럴땐 한번 추천해볼께. 항상 화이팅하고 더 질문있으면 언제나 연락해~ 수고해!

    Hey Richard, I hope you are doing well and I have a few questions about your experience at U of T.
    As you are in Rotman Commerce at Woodsworth College, do you primarily spend your time in classes at Woodsworth or do you also spend a lot of your time in classes at other colleges as well?
    I watched your video where you talked about your grades and extracurriculars in high school and you made it clear that you were very involved in your community in school and outside of school. Do you think this played a role in your success at U of T? I just want your personal view on this since your friend Jack managed to thrive in his courses despite not getting too involved in high school, as he said in one of the interviews. And personally, I haven't participated in many clubs or been part of student council.
    I heard that in your first year of university, you're not really assigned homework but rather, you have a lot of content to study every day and your grade is mostly based off of exams. Do the assignments, essays, and projects really start to kick in during later years?
    And regarding assignments, are they different from high school assignments? Are university assignments more like inquiry assignments where you have to conduct thorough research, analysis, and investigation such as essays and research papers? I am asking this because the reason U of T was able to climb four places this year in the QS rankings is because of the "increased citations per faculty" and I am suspecting this is mostly due to students completing a diverse range of original work assigned by their professors and faculty.
    I wish you the best as always Richard. 형 항상 화이팅하세요~!

    • @RichardHan
      @RichardHan  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Jaden thank you for your great questions again (그리고 영어로 질문해 줘서 고마워 ㅎㅎ). First of all I was actually part of New College😂😂 and I think I spent an equal amount of time for both my college and Rotman. That's because I was the first year rep for New college student council and I was also one of the first year interns for Rotman commerce students association. I also do think my active involvement in high school contribute to my "success" or well being of my first year. Having those involvement in the past did build me some foundation and I think it was easier for me to get certain positions I wanted in uoft. However that goes out to say there are students like Jack who wasn't that much involved in extracurricular activities before but still managed to have a very successful life at uoft. So this really depends on what kind of person you are and how much you are willing to work for the positions you want. I think there were quite a bit of homework but I do agree that the grades are mostly based off of exams/projects. These homework/assignments include research papers, essays, analysis and group assignments. I hope I was able to answer your questions Jaden and if you have any further questions please let me know. 화이팅해~~

    I’m an OUAC 101 applicant, my midterm average is an 87% (and it’s still rising for my finals), I applied to Rotman commerce way back in January and the last date for university to respond is May 27 and I’m getting a bit worried that I’m not gonna get it. Do you know anyone that got in this year? What was their average? Is the competition this year high? Is that why my application still says ‘pending review’? I’m just really worried, I heard about people with really high averages like 94+ getting rejected.

    • @RichardHan
      @RichardHan  4 роки тому +3

      Great question, so I do know some students who got into rotman this year because they commented on my videos as soon as they got an offer. I think getting into rotman is competitive every year so I definitely don’t think it was just this year that was competitive. I also want to emphasize that not only you need good grades but you need good extracurricular and supplementary application as well (so I am not too sure what the average was for this year). I am not too sure what the university meant by “pending review” so I would highly recommend you to contact university about this. I really hope you get an offer from rotman and I understand how frustrating this situation can be. I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. It helped in terms of studying at university (since I already knew the material before coming to university) but I don’t think it necessarily helped during the application process!

    How does Calculus relate to Business?

    • @RichardHan
      @RichardHan  4 роки тому

      Great question, so we use math all the time in the world of business. In the end we still need to calculate cash flows and graphs so calculus is crucial in business. Also in rotman you’ll have to learn math in your first year so learning calculus in high school may be beneficial. I hope I was able to answer your question and if you have any further questions please let me know. I wish the best of luck to you in the future!
