Thanks for sharing this. I saw a video yesterday that looked different. The way I figured it out many years ago was basically the same as you did. But, I was trying to play five and six strings at a time which probably wasn't necessary. Maybe only at the very end of the song with the B major chord.
Couldn't believe you had this on the other channel, now a lesson! Thanks! "The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat." Was it Alexis Arguello and Carlos Palomino toe to toe at the crescendo?
I love this song. Great tutorial. Thank you for sharing... 😃
Jeff and I share a birth date. I wish I had 1% of his talent. Nice guy, too. My first music hero.
Mr. Blue Sky is the 5th Beatle
The search for my guitar pick continues.
LMAO!
Legend has it, you're still looking for it
The early ELO stuff was different than the later stuff. I really like this.
Everytime I hear this song I think of Seabreeze and riding the Scrambler while seeing images of space being projected on the walls.
Mike Scott that’s exactly why I was looking for this today!
Jeff was and always be a music God. Like chopin.
That creepy backwards Wizard Of Oz will get ya. Thanks for the lesson!
Would hate to play that and Pinball Wizard back-to-back in a set.
Joe Prodorutti I was thinking the same thing!
Or the question from the moody blues.
Fast fingers you got there James. Thanks for the lesson.
Always loved this song
Woooo!!....go JJ...Go!...damn.!!$

Great tutorial!
The strums at the beginning of the video reminded me of Drivers Seat by Sniff n the Tears lol.
Great song! Jeff Lynne doesn't nearly get his due sometimes. Did that new Volkswagen commercial get you in the mood to play some ELO?
i ask apologetically i know i shouldn;t focus on strumming pattern but could anyone elaborate a struming patter in writing. thx and happy holidays

Nice
Is your Gretsch model a 5120 or a 5420?
A 5120. I don't have a Gretsch at the moment...a situation that will shortly be remedied.
Did Jeff play this on the album?
I assume he did.
It's on the Face the Music album
@@jamesjames9275 Yes he did using his trustee ovation acoustic guitar, his acoustic guitar of choice back in the day
The backwards power chords is confusing me...is it in reverse on purpose?
I believe he’s using his thumb to make playing the suspended chord easier; it can be done with a modified barre chord
I think you could pull it off with a 12 string...
