- This was professionally-filmed at Chemnitz, Germany on November 8th 1994 as part of the 'Moment Of Truth' tour. E.L.O. Part 2 line-up : Bev Bevan, Kelly Groucutt, Mik Kaminski, Lou Clark, Eric Troyer & Phil Bates.
In 1977 this was the opening number only it was a SUPER LONG version.
Fire on High and doesn't get any better then this except wish it was longer..
The music is reversible, but time...turn back, turn back, turn back, turn back...
Yes! What a mind blower, I remember turning the record backwards as a kid…
Loved discovering this easter egg. My player has a reverse play button, however I imagine it must have been tons more fun doing it the old fashioned way for the first time, spinning the record backwards manually.

This is a masterpiece. Remember seeing ELO in Brentwood Essex around 25 years ago ( without Jeff Lynn) and they did fire on high. Sounded absolutely amazing. In fact possibly the best concert I've ever been to. Shame Jeff doesn't do it. Seen him and Elo 5 times in last 4 years.
Couldn't agree more and one of my favorites tunes from ELO and Jeff Lynne should play it.
Saw them when I was 12 with my mom at the Oakland coliseum. Time album. I think in 79 or 80. Great concert.

Yeah, this was the song that first got me turned on to ELO back in the day. It was (if I remember rightly) the B side to Telephone Line. This performance of the track is absolutely epic, and it prob has to be said Bev's finest hour :)

Originally recorded in 1975, released in 1976. I was a Navy Brat back in those days.

I never got to see ELO live and you can't find concert videos of the classic tune,Fire on High anywhere on here,I learned how to play it by ear on my guitar and have always learned to play songs by ear by the way I'm from the States

I love this song. It's the track they have used on a scrambler up in Maine at an amusement park. Every day the song must be played hundreds of times and this has been going on for my entire life.I'm forty three, now they still have the ride.They are still playing "Fire On High" The ride is all set up with fog and lasers, and I guess it's kind of a psychedelic experience. Growing up, I used to look forward to going to Maine to go on that ride and hear this song. Finally ended up getting the tape in my stocking one year at christmas. I will always love this song. Any version of it. ✌️

I really do miss the cellos, Hugh McDowell was always a great performer live, but it's great to see this many of the "classic line-up" together. This is basically ELO minus two but they sound every bit as good as the band did at their peak. I've seen other live videos of them and look like they're having a lot more fun doing it.
If you talked to someone who never heard of ELO, or wasn't familiar with them, and played this song, saying it's a lost Floyd track, they'd probably believe you...

Fire on High 1 and 2 from the great band E.L.O. . One of the first rock bands to play with an orchestra. It is one of the finest played and recorded songs ever. Once the theam song for CBS Sports Spectacular. A truly amazing classic that will energize and stimulate any person who loves music . If this song doesn’t get you going your already dead !
The Moody Blues played with the London Festival Orchestra on the Days of Future Passed album back in 1967. ELO was formed in 1970.

@@squonk86 I saw The Moody Blues in the 1970 Question of Balance tour in St. Louis at the Arena with Trapeze opening for them. I was 16 years old and my sister took me. We had front row center seats and it was my very first concert. I just could not believe how good it was. I'm 68 now and remember it still like it was yesterday. They were an amazing group.
@@williambyassee6788 Unfortunately I didn't start to get into The Moody Blues until around 1979 then saw them every year with a very good friend when they came around until they stopped and first 3 years no sitting just standing and singing right up by the stage. Great memories
Sadly the KEYBOARD AUDIO on this track is awful, otherwise, this really is a classic from the times we lived.
The drums are very lame on this version. Even ELO can’t recreate ELO from the 70s

I'm of the age that I somewhat remember these from back in the '70's and '80's. More recently have come to realize this was quite an unusal group. Their stuff was so different from one song to the next and it was not like the music of their times.

Sorry Martin -Fire on High was the theme for CBS sports spectacular. Curt Gowdy was over at NBC sports, and Jim McKay was amazing over at ABC's Wide World of Sports - which had a great theme with the thrill of victory and the agony of da feet.
Me and my dope smoking and beer drinking buddies would all go piss in the backyard whenever ELO was played.
