I used to own a property near an Ohio state game area and the gene pool was good. I hunted some private land just off the game area and got to see some really Wiley big old bucks. Problem, other people didn't care about permission and they scared them back into the preserve. Year after year. Also, some of the farmers decided they wanted some venison and would take them out with high powered rifles. Oh well.

If this is a buck in let’s say center of the state. I heard it was recently seen with an arrow sticking out and he’s been MIA for a few days. As a hunter I would love to see him harvested, but I really hope that’s not how his story ends. I also agree the deer in these surrounding cities that are still in the city limits are a real problem.

Give me a call. I’ve known this deer for 5 years. No hunting indeed. His name is “Prince Harding”. I think you know why I named him that. But it didn’t stop someone from attempting a poach. He is running around the neighborhood as of last night- and has an arrow in his side! It appears that the shot was high. I have literally hundreds of pictures and videos of him under 10 yards. He was not the biggest one in the area. But that deer also got poached last year. I’m a well seasoned bow hunter myself but viewed this city buck as nothing more than the neighborhood mascot. He’s borderline tame.
So did you get a shot? Or know the guy who did? I can tell you where his last known location was. The local police department and the Ohio Division of Wildlife Poaching hotline are all over this as many concerned citizens are now witnessing a wounded giant walking around. So absolutely horrible for our reputation as ethical and lethal archery hunters. Those of us like you who if possible would have done it the right way.
I have more or less “protected” this buck for many years and have always encouraged the residents to stop posting pictures and videos of him.
I’ve obtained permission from dozens of landowners to shed hunt every single inch of those creek bottoms. I had finally pinpointed where he winters this past February. I Doubt I’ll actually be able to find them now as he is injured. It’s kind of an ugly deal. The internet killed his Grandad and appears that it’s now likely killed Prince Harding too.

Get a mentor who is a real hunter and knows not to take deer illegally in urban settings while putting children and others at risk. It’s also MUCH harder to actually take a deer in the wild, than one who is used to humans. Also- if you’re going to hunt learn to field dress and take that deer for processing. Trophy hunters suck.

I'm sorry, but hunting this buck is not a challenge. It's a metropolitan suburb. I live in this community and he's a part of it. We admire and are in awe of him. We enjoy seeing him year to year. I was taught to hunt on an equal playing field. An animal who is acclimated to humans, not afraid of them, feed by them, is not a fair target regardless of how big he or his rack is. Hunting him does not require a great amount of skill. Sit in a tree stand in rural Ohio and get a buck. Track and hunt moose or sit in a wet blind all day trying to shoot water fowl. That's a fair fight and good hunting. Wish you luck this season, just not here.

I totally support hunters like you, but I've never been hunting. I have a couple questions if you have a min...
    🌳🌲_🦌💨___🌳🌲
How long can bucks live? I knew of an old fella (had to look up pictures to guess the points, I'm guessing over 20 by the points, shape & size of his antlers which I remember, this guy was a horse!) that would visit me when I took my time with God, but it was over 20 years ago. Came up to me when I was singing. Local hunters caught wind of it from my blabbering family.. 😂 I refused to give specifics ever. That was my buddy. ❣️🦌❣️ But.. not hard to do the math if they just knew a few things..
I guess they'd been hunting this guy for years. No one could find him.
Maybe his DNA is still running around out there. I'll tell you everything if you're interested. 😊

Awesome! My guess is that if he only moves at night that he beds pretty close by. Look for a food source, water and bedding. He’s gonna be bedded down during the day, so you wanna search for his bed first. Once you find out where he beds and eats/ drinks, you can cut him off. You can move your stand closer and then hunt down wind of his path to food from bedding. We also have a video about this exact thing. Check it out! How to kill a nocturnal deer!
