The hope for a fun PvE experience was the only thing that kept me coming back and playing a few matches a day. With this news, I think I finally have a reason to let Overwatch go. they had already made the decision to cancel PVE before even releasing OW2. they knew the whole time and continued to lie to their fans with a smile on their face
The absolute worst part is people been there on Blizzcon and played it, so no this whole stick isn't a lie unless every single streamer and content creator were paid to spread this lie.
They say as much lol. In the interview they literally say they shifted mentality to more of a live service concept before OW2 launch. Essentially saying "we knew this would happen before we launched ow2".
I dont think scraping pve was part of the plan. I think along the lines they just figured it was more effort than it would yield money so the higher ups just said fk it. But what was planned was the ow2 shop monetization. And THAT scam was planned. Lots of people fell for it. I hate bliz so i never spent any money. I do feel for people who spent money thinking they could use the skins in pve but at the same time cmon. How many more atrocious things can they do for you to finally stop giving them money.
Wont be suprised if they give us a weapon charm as an apology like they did with the shop complaints. It just makes me think even more that OW2 was just a shop and battlepass update.
I’ve played ow for years even when it was dead, it’s was bad before but I can’t believe Activision managed to top their money-hungry stupidity this year for multiple communities but on steroids. They should be held legally responsible for their actions
Honestly, i feel scammed. I stayed on the game purely for the pve to be handed this 4 years after the anniuncement which is already on top of a lazy game
At this point the whole "point" of OW2 was to kill the old one to force everyone onto the same platform that has the store and battle pass. Imagine a timeline where we still had the OG OW1 that was a 1 time buy. It doesn't exist because then they couldn't milk us.
@@curtisstephens4482 That's not how servers work; it's is infinitely more costly for a mega corp to run servers were no one is using them than to run them while they are in use.
So basically, Overwatch 1 stopped recieving major updates since 2019 to save more resources for the PVE aspect of Overwatch 2, the sole reason why Overwatch 2 exists in the first place, which led to Blizzard to shut down overwatch 1 and replaced it with Overwatch 2, which is the same game but free and with some balance changes.
So to sum everything up. Blizzard ruined matchmaking (everyone that was plat is gm now), they deleted ow1 to work on pve and cancel it?, They made updates that we could have had in ow1 already. Battle pass that no one asked for. Thanks blizz
"Don't forget the new engine, our PVE events are going to need it for their AI!" Or something like that. But if they're anything like that doomfist bot in the new event ... I'm not so sure why.
It’s just funny how the biggest change in the game was the removal of completely fine things. The 6v6 was fine and is what made OW different from others team based games, removed iconic maps and cool features like “I’m on fire” and levels. This feels more like a regression from 1, than anything. They just renamed it. It's like if Riot come up with League 2, but the game is 4x4.
well at least they bring back the "I´m on fire" feature in Season 5 xD but yeah for me it wasn´t an upgrade it was a downgrade and the reason i stopped playing....
When they announced ow2 I already said there is no way PvE comes out and it's nothing but a cash grab. Given blizzards track record in all other games, it was the only realistic expectation. I give the game at max 4more years before they put it in indefinite maintenance mode, same as HotS
Why Dont all of the entire OW1 Community and even New OW2 Community Sue them they will go from being a rich Company of millions to -millions after a couple months if there is a MASSIVE amount of us gather and rebel over this and peace riot and sue Bobby Kotich and Blizzard/Activision For this whole OW PVE Cancel Bs since they lied to us which is sueable. who cares how many lawyers they have idc We need to Get on the news to report over this, This is rediculous!
I don’t even consistently play OW, but I definitely am uninstalling now. This is a literal SCAM. They’re going back on promises they made YEARS ago, they had time to put something out, but instead have gone “well guys, I guess we promised too much, sorry.”
I'm quitting OW2 after this season, I stayed cuss of the PVE that was promised to us for years, now that that's not coming, I have no reason to stay. Boycott there next pass, heck boycott there game, let those damn liars know you wont take this lying down.
I purchased the watchpoint pack because I was a huuuuge OW1 fan and played since the beta. The early access to OW2 was fun but having 1 less tank was annoying. Upon logging in to OW2 on its release day and seeing the outrageous pricings on 5 year old skins I said "oh I'll play but not buy anything" Then came Kiriko and her witch skin. This made me quit the game altogether. $45? Are you serious? I havent touched Overwatch2 since then. This game is a cashgrab. They saw that Fortnite makes money and said "i wanna do that" The One Punch Man skins is also a huge breaking point. If I wanted to play Fortnite id play Fortnite.
I'm sorry to say this, but Overwatch 2 is using us... this game is a putting you in dept. Not only irl, but in the game as well. You earn 60 OW coins per week upon completing all the Weekly Challenges and every (if not, most) Legendary skin costs about 1000 to 2000 which kills the entire state of this game... Activision Blizzard has done all of this on purpose! Should probably called this game EAwatch from now on 😂
the whole point of the game (ow1) not getting support or content for all those years was because they were "working" on PvE and had to make new systems and engine upgrades to support it so it took more man power hell it was the whole reason why the name got changed to OW2, so now after all this time the name change is pointless, all it ended up being is a long wait for a balance patch, a shop and, battle pass system (both the shop and the battle pass promote fomo) while that game on the PvP side was changed to a state that most players dont like lol
We were promised an improved game with plenty of features. We were promised that with the $33 spent on the game, we could unlock everything if played enough. We were promised a good PvE mode with an in-depth campaign and high repeatability. All at the cost of 2 years of development and patience. And Blizzard threw a battlepass, overinflated item shop, and a glorified archives event in our face. Uninstalled when I heard the announcement. Good riddance

What’s really fucked up is they admitted they knew the were doing this switch a year and a half ago and still even past Overwatch 2’a launch 6 months ago we kept getting bullshit and lies that we’d be getting PvE early 2023.
The excuse seems to be that it's too much work to make skill trees for every character. Okay ... how about this (Blanks out every hero without an active skill tree) there done, now they also have a reason to come back to older missions, since they can replay with a new hero when the skill tree is finished for them. Or just throw it all away ...
when overwatch came out, I was obsessed, it was my dream was to be a concept artist and work with blizzard, now that I'm an adult and going to art school, I'm a tad embarrassed that I ever had that thought. would not have been a good idea.
I will be taking a break from playing the game when season 5 starts and will come back at season 6. If things are going so well as I feared then I’ll be leaving the game until a miracle happens that can help the game.
I've supported overwatch for 5 years now. I've promoted the game to so many people and have dedicated my PvP gaming experience souly to overwatch. When I learned overwatch was being shutdown and converted over to overwatch 2. I was so disappointed, but I was OK because we'd get some amazing character development PvE experience... Now we're not getting it... Blizzard has proven time and time again. That they only care about sucking every last cent out of their community and literally don't care at all about the quality of their gameplay experiences. At this point if any game, even a little more fun comes along. I'd probably drop overwatch at this point. I feel so betrayed by blizzard, I don't trust them anymore.
Most Blizzard staff cannot even afford to purchase food in the BlizzardcHQ cafeteria let alone pay rent. Meanwhile Kotick has purchased his 17th yacht.
I truly wanted to love OW2 and was happy to get into it since I nevet played OW1. The rank/progression system was so incredibly frustrating that I just had to quit. Started playing Rocket League and saw what a working ranking system should be. I am happily enjoying RL and as I feel myself getting better I generally start ranking higher. I have been so satisfied with how my skill level has matched my ranking. If OW2 ever fixed this, I'd consider playing again, but the whole PVE is a let down. I truly feel bad for those that have waited years and years for it, especially all of you that came from OW1. So sorry to you all. Blizz needs to pay a price for mistakes of this magnitude. P.S. New sub, cause you're funny as hell!
Something that confuses me is that this is the same developers behind WoW, which is a live service game, which they add content from an expansion over the year, not at the start. They could easily implement this to OW2, instead of canceling the whole idea of the story mode they could at least add SOMETHING for the PvE experience and build it up overtime.
I can see the game being dead from now on. Thank you Boss in Activision... I've been waiting for the PvE. I haven't tried the game yet and they already cancelled the main game mode that I want to try... and...... Yeah... let it die. Just let it die.
Not gonna lie, although its unusual to have someone on UA-cam who doesn't mince his words about a truly embarrassing decision from a big company, I really, really enjoyed your unfiltered and authentic rant. I feel the exact same and am glad to actually hear someone on UA-cam saying exactly what's in people's minds. I abandoned Overwatch since Season 3 and as of now, I am nowhere near coming back any time soon. I rather look forward to D4 becoming a great grinding opportunity, or Riot launching some big games. Overwatch PvP just got really exhausting over the years and when you've been at the top several times, with Activision Blizzard releasing these kind of news, you eventually lose your fire for Overwatch (in my case atleast) and start looking for some other fun games to grind. I really love the fantasy, the artstyle, the satisfying mechanics the characters have and the lore of Overwatch, but it's gotten way less attractive over the years when it's only put into PvP. And I am not willing to pay 10$ a season to get about 1 hour of non-progression, low-replayability story missions. We've had that before in Overwatch 1 with Archives, but it was free and the replayability was higher than the new story missions will likely be due to Leaderboard, different difficulties, earnable player icons (Yes, even if its just player icons). Also I like your honesty with why you're saying things like "Like and Subscribe", it's because you wanna make money off of it etc. To me it's way more sympathetic when people don't just leave it at "subscribe, like [...] If you dont wanna miss any news" So leaving it at that, you got my Sub
I think when Jeff left they had no intention of making that pve add-on as jeff told us it would be, they just didn't know how to tell that with out sounding like scammer. that didnt work lol
I used to work in activision blizzard, for many years, and as “director” position, and kudos for not blaming the developers. 95% of devs, including people like me in directing position, has no full transparency of corporate decision. It can be everything goes well in production one day, and the next day we got a memo of project gotten shutdown, it is a very stressful place to expect the unexpected. The last thing devs need is the blame from the gamers.
So many people believe that Blizzard worked on the PvE they showed us in the trailers. When in fact I doubt they even talked about it ever since Beta Testing. As soon as the game went live they dropped PvE like a sack of potatoes from the Empire State Building.
They went silent and didn’t give us updates for years, essentially rendering OW1 dead. Then they reveal that the reason is because they have been working on OW2 and the PvE. Then they come out with OW”2” without the PvE, less maps, less mechanics, worse sbmm, and more microtransactions. THEN they cancel PvE and tell us we should be happy that the PvP is even working. This right here, this is a prime example of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” OW1 was perfect, all they needed to do was add onto it, not make a scam ripoff.
well you cant blame all it on them since if the players dose not support the monetization they wont even dare making this decision, there's to many bad/braindead consumer keep buying those overprice skins making it works, for me I had alrdy stop buying anything in the shop including battlepass since season 2 if i want something i just grind the free coins/credits since u can get 1 free battlepass every 2 season n guys pls stop being FOMO(fear of missing out)
Yeah but they said they were working on it for years.. like ow1 was dry at for years and they said it was because they were working on PVE. Like they only wanted to change the monetization of the game and that’s literally it.
Imagine blaming players because they spend money on a game. People can spend their money how they want it you have no right to say otherwise just because you dont like it lmao. What a joke.
I love how they claim they didnt have resources for PVE because they have to work on PVP but the only thing they added the last 5 years is 1 gamemode and 1-2 maps but they instead removed iconic features of the game, removed loot boxes replaced them with a greedy system and replaced the PVP Rank system with a worse one. So in the last 5 years they added 2 Features and removed like 10. But they claim they didnt have resources for PVE because they were working on PVP.
Overwatch 2 was a let down for sure. They had the worst aiming controls in a modern fps game ive ever seen. And they are selling the same skins they sold to you in Overwatch 1? Definitely a scam when someone tries to charge you twice.
Just follow the money trail. As a finance major, the first thing we’re taught is that the most important thing a company can do is maximize shareholder value. Not create good products, not serve communities, just maximize shareholder value. Unfortunately for general people, who don’t make billions of dollars and just want to have an outlet (such as gaming), we always suffer so that way companies can execute their highest priority, which is to maximize shareholder value. It’s clear that Activision’s sole purpose for the overwatch 2 rebrand was to keep everyone’s money who purchased overwatch 1, and then repackage the game into a “free” version with micro transactions. It wouldn’t surprise me if the executives knew from the start that the PVE mode wouldn’t be completed. They just needed a way to boost profits so they could either A) Increase the value of the stock and make the executives richer, or B) make the company look attractive to potential buyers, such as, I don’t know, Microsoft? So yet again, we are left here to try to enjoy a subpar product while the company who made it continues to try to further monetize our desire for leisure.
Imagine buying Blizzard games. Rather than being ashamed of wanting to ever work at Blizzard/Activision, I'd be more ashamed of even playing their "games".

Great video, completely agree with almost everything. Also very entertaining. One thing I wanted to point out is that the "fat cat" types at these companies certainly are a huge problem, but management level developers do need to shoulder some of the blame. I just believe those in leadership positions need to speak up and wave red flags and find ways to make their projects work. Of course we dont know how the lower leadership performed on these projects, but they could have been absolutely lazy and just poorly running development (no keeping deadlines, etc) I wish we could get an expose from a dev because I feel that would be very illuminating to the situation. Anyway- great video and its a shame where we are today with the games industry. Just sad. Kids today will also never understans the simplicity of 2008-2014 gaming. The true golden days
I understand management level developers do deserve it as well, but it’s situational and the internet is full of smooth brains. The absolute worst part is people been there on Blizzcon and played it, so no this whole stick isn't a lie unless every single streamer and content creator were paid to spread this lie.
There have been top publishers straight up lying in trailers like ubisoft.. creating gameplay trailers that was not in the end product..
Yeah, that "Salty" charm, right?

The fact that no one sued the shit out of them yet for false advertising is more disappointing than the game itself.

That PVE Mode was never meant to come. They just used it as an excuse to implement more f2p microtransactions into the game.
At this point the whole "point" of OW2 was to kill the old one to force everyone onto the same platform that has the store and battle pass.
Imagine a timeline where we still had the OG OW1 that was a 1 time buy. It doesn't exist because then they couldn't milk us.
It’s a scam! Don’t give them any more of your money I have personally just deleted it
I'm done as well. They lied to us. I didn't care how long the p v e took.

"Don't forget the new engine, our PVE events are going to need it for their AI!"
Or something like that. But if they're anything like that doomfist bot in the new event ... I'm not so sure why.
@@Skynet5885 Marketing I guess. They are trying to save their dead company (deserved)
The term you are looking for is "Bait and switch" selling people a quality product and supplying them an inferior product.
They can actually get sued for false advertisement
I really wish they'll get sued HARD
Why Dont all of the entire OW1 Community and even New OW2 Community Sue them they will go from being a rich Company of millions to -millions after a couple months if there is a MASSIVE amount of us gather and rebel over this and peace riot and sue Bobby Kotich and Blizzard/Activision For this whole OW PVE Cancel Bs since they lied to us which is sueable. who cares how many lawyers they have idc We need to Get on the news to report over this, This is rediculous!
I'd donate to this cause
I don’t even consistently play OW, but I definitely am uninstalling now.
This is a literal SCAM.
They’re going back on promises they made YEARS ago, they had time to put something out, but instead have gone “well guys, I guess we promised too much, sorry.”
I'm quitting OW2 after this season, I stayed cuss of the PVE that was promised to us for years, now that that's not coming, I have no reason to stay.
Boycott there next pass, heck boycott there game, let those damn liars know you wont take this lying down.
Worst part is they already knew it was cancelled 7 months ago which means they lied when they say pve will release in 2023.
I purchased the watchpoint pack because I was a huuuuge OW1 fan and played since the beta. The early access to OW2 was fun but having 1 less tank was annoying.
Upon logging in to OW2 on its release day and seeing the outrageous pricings on 5 year old skins I said "oh I'll play but not buy anything"
Then came Kiriko and her witch skin. This made me quit the game altogether. $45? Are you serious?
I havent touched Overwatch2 since then.
This game is a cashgrab. They saw that Fortnite makes money and said "i wanna do that"
The One Punch Man skins is also a huge breaking point.
Should probably called this game EAwatch from now on 😂
That's the last straw with blizzard - never again
Uninstalled! If you take this lying down you’re accepting this behavior and telling Blizzard it’s okay
the whole point of the game (ow1) not getting support or content for all those years was because they were "working" on PvE and had to make new systems and engine upgrades to support it so it took more man power hell it was the whole reason why the name got changed to OW2, so now after all this time the name change is pointless, all it ended up being is a long wait for a balance patch, a shop and, battle pass system (both the shop and the battle pass promote fomo) while that game on the PvP side was changed to a state that most players dont like lol

Was the final straw that made me straight up delete. Kept giving me less and less reasons to pick it up and the hopes of some decent actual PvE made me stick around. Now I’m just over it. Really more over bad corporate decisions ruining what once was an amazing company.
This was what caused me to finally just quit the game. I’m not even finishing this seasons battlepass I’m just done trying to hope it will get better.
This has become exactly what fans said it was when it released "This is overwatch 1 reskined and 5 v 5"
so basically they released an update that removed loot boxes and stuns and called it overwatch 2
Removing those actually made the game worse.
I don't even know what to say at this point either. I love the Overwatch universe and the core gameplay of the game, but Blizzard has failed us too many times. People stop buying these overpriced skins until Blizzard decides to step up their game and treat us with the respect that we deserve.
Nope I'll buy what I want
@@FGPlusok, continue contributing to this bullshit, hope you lose a lot of money to something you care about in that exact way
What’s really fucked up is they admitted they knew the were doing this switch a year and a half ago and still even past Overwatch 2’a launch 6 months ago we kept getting bullshit and lies that we’d be getting PvE early 2023.
The excuse seems to be that it's too much work to make skill trees for every character. Okay ... how about this (Blanks out every hero without an active skill tree) there done, now they also have a reason to come back to older missions, since they can replay with a new hero when the skill tree is finished for them. Or just throw it all away ...
I don't think we honestly expected them to give the treatment to EVERY hero, so that excuse seems so weird!
So without the PvE, does it become Overwatch 1.5?
nnno, just Overwatch 1
Overwatch 1 with slightly better engine and 1 player less on each team's side
Nah more like overwatch 0.5 since it's 5v5 and less map.
I miss 6v6. 5v5 just feels like there's something always missing.
More like overwatch 0.5
when overwatch came out, I was obsessed, it was my dream was to be a concept artist and work with blizzard, now that I'm an adult and going to art school, I'm a tad embarrassed that I ever had that thought. would not have been a good idea.
This is going to hurt the game massively. Why call this a sequel when the PvE was marketed for this.
I will be taking a break from playing the game when season 5 starts and will come back at season 6. If things are going so well as I feared then I’ll be leaving the game until a miracle happens that can help the game.
I've left the game, and I'll only come back when that miracle happened
What little hope I had for overwatch has vanished
6:55 Good point about selling starter packs that basically amount to buying a boxed game, then reneging on what was supposed to be in the box.
I guarantee that they couldn’t see how they could monetize PvE so that’s why they cancelled it
The worst in this story is that the knew for months now that they would cancel the pve. They just lied.
To me it's way more sympathetic when people don't just leave it at "subscribe, like [...] If you dont wanna miss any news"
So leaving it at that, you got my Sub
They need to be sued for this.
For im pretty sure this is a case of false advertising.
Yea really hope so enough of the bullshit this company has spewed out
and D4 is just around the corner...I can't imagine this announcement could affect the sales of another Blizzard title.
I think when Jeff left they had no intention of making that pve add-on as jeff told us it would be, they just didn't know how to tell that with out sounding like scammer. that didnt work lol
‘Give me one positive thing to say about it.’
Publishers: ‘Uhh… You can give us your money? It teaches financial discipline!’
The "eventually start a crypto scam" line caught me off guard and made me laugh so much. Instant sub after that.
Glad it made someone laugh❤️
I felt this in my soul. Also I agree, we got scammed
well you cant blame all it on them since if the players dose not support the monetization they wont even dare making this decision, there's to many bad/braindead consumer keep buying those overprice skins making it works, for me I had alrdy stop buying anything in the shop including battlepass since season 2 if i want something i just grind the free coins/credits since u can get 1 free battlepass every 2 season n guys pls stop being FOMO(fear of missing out)
Yes I agree! I should start putting that into my videos. There needs to be some consumer accountability here. Thanks for the callout!

The Blizzard quality expected changed 6 years ago. It is now 'How will the battle pass operate and how much can we push to make on in game stores?'
So the last two dry ass years of OW1 were for nothing.

One thing I wanted to point out is that the "fat cat" types at these companies certainly are a huge problem, but management level developers do need to shoulder some of the blame. I just believe those in leadership positions need to speak up and wave red flags and find ways to make their projects work. Of course we dont know how the lower leadership performed on these projects, but they could have been absolutely lazy and just poorly running development (no keeping deadlines, etc)
I wish we could get an expose from a dev because I feel that would be very illuminating to the situation. Anyway- great video and its a shame where we are today with the games industry. Just sad. Kids today will also never understans the simplicity of 2008-2014 gaming. The true golden days
I understand management level developers do deserve it as well, but it’s situational and the internet is full of smooth brains.
