    I'm disappointed in the players who let a mobile game make that kind of money, and killing the quality of games from that point forward. Edit: They knew *a year before OW2 release* that they were nixxing the campaign as we knew (and wanted) it. Yeah we'll still get crappy missions, so what? That's not what they advertised, it's not what we wanted. We've been playing (some of us buying passes) ever since in hopes of a great campaign update. They knew a year before the release. Could have said something at any time, but they knew it would have interrupted their income. It's sneaky and dishonest.

      Its partly mobile gamers fault but not really, these mobile games are aggressively targeted at vulnerable people and they get gambling experts to design the game to be as manipulative as possible. I’m 100% ok with mobile game doing as well as its doing. Quality and interest of gamers have been on a massive decline for decades. People consider shooters and mobas as peak competitive gaming leaving quality fighting game genres in the dust by a lot. I’m just glad OW community is going through this because it’ll still do fine even with this type of treatment proving none of this matters. All that matters is easy gameplay that babies can preform but believing that they are hyper competitive.

    But the devs ARE puppets. As ambitious as the promise was, it is doable with enough resources and manpower. Blizzard's track record is full of impossibly ambitious projects that became massive successes upon completion. They set the precedent of what was possible. When the higher ups refuse to give you the resources and time (look up how often they were forced to change gears to other projects and lost months of dev time, only for them to be cancelled as well) and sabotage your team, it is difficult to blame the devs. The only thing I can blame the devs for are working for the company to begin with. But that's the thing: Most of them HAVE left. They brag about "doubling the size of the team" but also "having to split resources thin" because their hires, although greater in number, all mostly starry eyed juniors. The higher ups kept making unreasonable demands, sabotaging progress and arrogantly let the old guard walk out as if they were replaceable by the deluge of juniors coming in. In a large scale creative project like this, they aren't. Hence why we have the alleged "double sized team" composed entirely of incompetent bootlickers. Can we really blame the devs that walked away from the cruel company? Or the new hires that are just excited to work for such a large company? No, the blame falls squarely on upper management.
    Please just stop supporting the company. It really isn't as hard as you think. Do not play their games. There are a million games out there made by actual competent companies that deserve your support. As the company crumbles, the devs can jump ship to better companies themselves (they get laid off randomly anyway).

      my problem with this statement is that it can be applied to anything give me enough money and time and i can build a tunnel to china. its how you use the resources that you have and being realistic with your expectations is how companys grow. not by throwing resources into a project that has no real vision. its like when you higher an engineer to design and build a product. any engineer can over build the crap out of it but it takes a skilled team to do it and make it cost effective.

      @nihili4196 Рік тому +3

      Although I understand the sentiment, there are already heros in game, and many people would be disappointed with exclusion of their favourite hero. Also, this is massive problem, if you want to eventually add rest over time. Because you would want to release new content with old new heros, and that would have to be constantly rebalanced around new and old heros. And when you add the fact that OW gets new heros constantly, the amount of work needed to balance that mess on top balancing pvp is enormous.
      Over 30 heros is massive problem if you even remotely care about balance.

    • @Diphenhydra
      @Diphenhydra Рік тому +8

      Even if they did have all them from the start it would be fine. I wasn’t expecting them to make a massive skill tree with every node being game changing. I expected maybe 5-7 really cool and unique nodes per hero and the rest would be filler number changes. They did show, at least one node was just number changes. And considering what they showed off in 2019 (I think this was all shown then), the Mei ice ball and auto freeze when doing the healing ability (it’s been 7 months since I played OW and I forget the names of things), Rein’s circular earth shatter, Soldier’s movable heal pad, Lucio boop into wall stun. It seemed like they already had a good start, and with 3 and a half years of development, it didn’t seem unreasonable to expect all that to be done if they were putting the PvP on life support.

So in game with so many heros and monetization based on cosmetics, you would want all of them to be viable in all gamemodes, so players will have a reason to customise as many heros as possible. Therefore you NEED to have all heros have some viable niche that they're only capable to fulfill, as well as be completely balanced so Meta would be comprised of many substitutes for a role instead of only correct and incorrect options.

    They only told us about pve being scrapped because they had to. It was promised and they couldn't hide it any longer. If they could they wouldn't have told us at all but they knew they had to come out sooner or later so they waited for the right moment to get the least amount of push back and that is toward the end of a season when the following season is going to have a lot of stuff for it. Nothing in Blizzard is good anymore.

    Both the suits, and the devs are at fault here. And neither have deserved pity for a long time. If Activision-B team well and truly cared, they would have taken a page from Bungie's book, swallowed their losses, and left Activision to rot. Nobody working there should be given any sort of leeway, developer or not. They are making the conscious decision to stay and promote Activion's way of doing things. They are letting Bobby walk all over them, and are just blankly spitting out his PR bullshit. They're not making an effort to solve the problem, and thus are part of the problem. In a time where Bungie successfully walked away, and Indie studios are *thriving* Activision B-Team no longer has any excuse worth humoring.

There's only so much "copium" I can have, there's been too many issues surrounding this team and the game -- most of them involved trying to hide or omit critical details of game development after promising us more direct communication. I love that game, but if I ever play it again they will not see a single cent from me. There's still a lot of people forgiving this and spending money on $20 skins from the shop (total scam), so I'm sure me not playing won't matter to them.

  • @heiko2255
    @heiko2255 Рік тому +1

    Honestly, I would love PvE, but even then the 2 things i would love more than anything else is
    1. 6v6 is back, and I dont mean end of OW1 6v6. I mean 6v6 with All the new Heroes, All the Reworks (except doom they butchered him), Less CC, and a big patch every 2 - 3 weeks. And because the new balance team is somewhat competent, things like 2x Shield or Goats wouldnt happen again, they would just patch it after a few weeks.
    6v6 is just way more complex, you can play more tanks which in turn allows for more DPS to get picked. OW2 Tank feels so ass to me, because if you engage the frontline, your backline has no protection and this "Team Game" becomes a game of "Who can assasinated the backline first", Tanks just cant do everything Solo, they are not meant to do everything Solo. Also losing the synergies between tanks which encourages the teamplay is dogshit aswell. I might be stupid, but for casuals 6v6 and 5v5 shouldnt make much of a difference no? The only thing they see in 6v6 is 1 more person to shoot. And now that we dont even have an abundance of shields, they could actually shoot them.
    The only thing that justifies a swap to 5v5 in my opinion is Q times, but even those could be fixed if you made content for the game and kept it alive...
    2. Old Ranked System / SR System. This new Ranked System is so ass i cant even put it into words. No Transparency to the Player where you OR your teammates are Skillwise, No way of knowing when you rank up/down, No way of knowing how much you need to get to the next rank and (this might only be a problem for a few people) you dont know when youre Top 500. Why should i mindlessly grind in GM when I dont know when the fuck im in Top 500. Who thought that was a good idea.
    This whole system caters to casuals who cant take it seeing their funny number go down and up, they get free wins or even better if they lose they still get promoted. The amount of plats in T500 in this game says it all, and that doesnt have to do with too many new players.
    I know im in the minority with 6v6 and it hurts me that waiting for my favourite game to finally get updates again for 4 years only for it to be way less enjoyable for me to play, but atleast i can hope that they change ranked again.

    I was a tier-2 tournament player for Overwatch, and the only thing OW2 got right in my opinion was the 5-player teams. I totally expected the PvE to be thrown out the window once Diablo Immortal started making the obscene amounts of money it did at release. I've completely quit both Overwatch 2 and CoD because the current Battle Pass price is stupid and it doesn't even pay itself, and I honestly feel like I'm wasting my time playing both of those. In classic Overwatch, even if you weren't moving up much on ranked, you still felt your time wasn't being wasted since you had the levels giving boxes for you to try and get a skin, and that was for me - and I think many others - what made us persist even on bad days. If there was a hybrid between classic lootbox-leveling system and the Battle Pass it would be fair enough, but leaving the game in its current state is just lame. Sad to see the game I once fell in love with going downhill so fast...

I am guessing they just was not motivated to work on this game because why tf would they? I blame the problems on the higher ups who did not give them enough to do what they wanted to. Blizzard was forcing them to make a game as fast as possible and make money as fast as possible. I just think that the devs and workers of the game are just as angry as us and that they were forced to make these shitty decisions.

    Bro, comparing with Bored-erlands 3 is ironically inaccurate, because from the funs perspective BL3 for Borderlands series is actually the same shitty, disappointed, empty "sequel" as OW 2 for original Overwatch.
    Development of Borderlands 3 took 7 years NOT because it was revolutionary massive or intruduced deep gamedesign but because executive isues in Gearbox which lost major part of veteran's and creators of original Borderlands Universe. So its kinda the same hook that we have with OW2 now. Borderlands 2 took only 2 years to develop after original game and become undisputed masterpiece. DATS the correct BL game to compare with.
    The most accurate conclusion tells us that good games are not a derivative of a long development cycle, but primarily the result of purposeful work and competent management of talented, motivated people who have the goal of making a decent, exciting game, and not a bastard microtransaction store.

It's literally worst.. preorder a game on steam and find out if you like it in the first two hours after release.. easy refund if you don't. I can guarantee nobodies getting refunds for any purchases they made in anticipation of the pve mode.
