Had an EXCELLENT coffee with Kiko of Megadeth... Also saw them live the same evening and they were crushing it!
Ola Englund yesss good morning ola
The office looks beautiful Ola! Can't wait to see what else you do with it :)
To be honest it crossed my mind that this might happen since you posted it on FB , kudos Ola.
Hellooo from Brazil...
Great player, very cool interview Ola!🤘🎸🎶
Thanks Ola! It was fun to chat with you.
Pleasure was all mine Kiko! Thanks for everything!
Both of you guys are awesome. It is a joy to see you two together in a same video.
Great interview Kiko and Ola!
Obrigado 🙏
Kiko, thank you for being you.
Now. Finish that tour and give us the new album already! :D
Hi kiko loureiro you are a great inspiration
Mustaine: Do you hold your pick in some common way?
Guitarist: Yes
Mustaine: Next!
lol ikr
LEAVE MY BOY ALONE
Chris Poland and Marty Friedman hold their picks in so odd ways.. Can't figure out how they play, holding it like that.
@@11DNA11 Makes sense when you take pick angle into account and how the solos are designed around that specific pic angle 😉
Richard Jones it's more than obvious you know your stuff man! 👍
Brazilian guy and Swedish guy talking and sharing experiencies... God I love english.
World should have adopted esperanto when had the chance.
Well... I find it a shitty language that's only okay-ish because everybody is using it nowadays.
But Ola isn’t from Norway 🇳🇴? WTH
@@rafamacamp lol
@ well if Italy had taken over the world for centuries you wouldn't be able to complain
Kiko is SO underrated. It’s a shame people know him from Megadeth and not Angra. His work in Angra is unreal.
Temple of shadows is great!
Absolutely. His work in Angra is what allowed Kiko to shine and how Mustaine found him. Good work Kiko!
I feel like Kiko breathed some new life into Megadeth with his playing. He can shred without sounding like "generic metal shred"
True. But there's nothing wrong with generic metal shred.
Thats so true, many years of prog/power metal kinda did that to him.
Megadeth (dave) always know how to choose their lead guitarists. Maybe the best ones in the history of metal music (marty friedman, chris Broderick, kiko ...)
Def. That's because of his multi-genre background. Too often Metal ppl only stick to Metal and eventually it just all sounds the same. That's why even Ola is shocked that his solo works are not all shreddy metal stuff but fusion even an full album that was just pure jazz. Every musician should aspire to be multi-genre.
Just an opinion. Dont flip out. I saw Kiko with Megadeth, perhaps 2 years ago. Excellent. I didnt think I would love another player in that role as much as Marty Friedman, but I think I think he changed that. A unique voice all of his own.
"... In two days I learned Hanger 18, Trust, Symphony, Holy Wars.. " TWO DAYS! Holy Shit! Not surprised, but still, holy shit!!
No, Holy Wars!
They’re not hard if you’re an intermediate player tbh
Amazing listening to a native Portuguese and native Swedish speaker holding an intelligent conversation in English. Most of us Americans can barely speak English let alone a 2nd language
@jasper426 Kiko is Brazilian
@jasper426 not really. We basically only learn English at school, and very rarely Spanish. But the English you learn at school is definitely not enough to hold even the most basic of conversations. To learn English in Brazil, you have to actively search for a course or or be self taught.
Maybe he is part portuguese, I'm not sure, but he grew up entirely in Brazil, so it doesn't really matter for his language learning.
@@iurigrang True but I think they were referring to him being a native Portuguese speaker since that's the primary language in Brazil
@@josephbastidas3561 jasper specifically mentioned cultures being packed in Europe as a reason for kiko to know English, so that isn't what he meant
@jasper426 not really. English in brazilian schools is very poorly taught, sometimes its not good enough for students to be able to hold a conversation in english. Although some schools do offer a third language, that will almost never be the case.
P.S. Yes I am Brazilian
It only misses the "aliás, vou contar uma coisa pra vcs"
Tava só esperando por um "actually" dele kkkk
A mith! eaiuheaiuheaiuh
Hahahaha
HAHAHAHAHA
hahaha "tiozão prolixo"
His Solo albums is where I got to "know" him first, even before Angra. His bosa nova stuff is incredible..
I play no gravity for boss battles when the games music is too generic
😂
its all about Angra
one of the best power metal /prog bands of all time
Damn! First Dimebag’s home, now Kiko’s at your office, you are living my dreams lol. Get Friedman in that chair man please 🙏🏻 greetings from Mexico
Totally agree.
Yeah we want Marty
Ola would have to fly to Japan to interview Marty
All you have to do is to get someone in sweden to book him.
@@Nghilifa that's a good idea I wonder who or how much you'd have to pay for that
And Kiko said it! Megadeth is "more complicated to play"! Alleluia!
Mikhail Mascarenhas I still find it hard to believe tho
Hard to believe? Nah. Kiko is right.
Megadeth songs arent really complicated , just more so than pretty much any Metallica songs. Try learning something off of Rust and then something off of And Justice.
@@LordDangles Aptly said! Megadeth is relatively more technical than Metallica
@@LordDangles I didn't watch the video, I thought he was talking about Angra, his previous band.
When I started playing guitar I felt pretty good cause I learned some metallica songs, then I tried to learn holy wars and holy shit ... I almost hang the guitar for good
Why does kiko sound like Tony Montana, it feels like at any moment he's gonna say "hello to my Lil friend" and pull out his ibanez or something like that
lol
Probably because he's brazillian!
He is Latino too lol
His Ibanez is a lethal tool. Both when it comes shredding, and when he decides to use it as a battleaxe.
He’s from São Paulo and they speak slower than people in Rio. Al Pacino had to speak slow to do the Cuban accent so that’s probably why it’s sounds similar to you.
"In the 80's I watched VHS of Paul Gilbert"
Me in 2020 watching the same videos but on UA-cam...
Fucking yes kiko. His leads on dystopia are fantastic
After watching: def my favorite coffee with ola, that was fantastic.
This is the only one in existence.
Ola has quite a few of these coffee conversation videos
Can’t argue with that , new life in megadeth
Met him in France, circa 20 years ago, invited by my guitar school, during an Angra tour. He blew our mind with some crazy brazilian stuff and was so kind. You know, before UA-cam, you got to see guitarists by yourself ;-)
dimegoat Wait guitarists only exist inside UA-cam in a virtual reality nowadays?
@@hashdealer8822 well considering that even when people go to shows they watch guitarists trough their phone displays (cameras), I would say yeah! :)
@@dimebagdarrell9101 boomer energy
@@quack_meister3355 Good n accurate energy. If it's boomer, I'll take it. You been to a show lately? Nearly every goddamn person has their phone out. Pretty annoying.
@@grimblegromblethegnome If it annoys you maybe u should get better tickes to be honest
Boy, what a change from not having heard Megadeth to loving their shows, digging the music, interviewing Kiko! All in like what... three weeks???
Just think if you had liked them back in the crushing days of Marty! Glad to see you have finally succumbed to the mighty Megadeth, better late than never!
He's never living that shit down. Tbf I think kiko is just as good as Marty. They are both beasts.
@@tatetatumtv4373 Agreed, and that's why Megadeth is back on track since Dystopia. Because Kiko is a monster, and he has a very different musical culture like Marty has. I'm kinda curious of what Dirk is going to offer on the next album too
Thank god that Ola did the "wtf is this Mekateth" video! Otherwise this video would've been akward!
Ola delated this Megadeth video. Am I right?
I'm so glad Megadeth found out about Kiko. He is probably my favorite guitar player out of all the others. I still appreciate Poland and Friedman, but there is something special that Kiko brings to their sound and it inspires me.
Marty all the way!
Megadeth known for some very complex and very fast composition.
Kiko: So i learned in 2 days...
Damn the guy is a legend.
He's got a jazz background, I'd expect no less.
Glen Drover had similar experience before joining up. Idk how these guys do it
@@bobking7347 he's got an everything background, talent plenty of genres
"They give me the isolated solos, after I learned how to play them"
Good stuff !
Loureiro is such a smart versatile and creative guitarist, truly impressive...
Ah so much time for this! Zelda, Ola, Kiko!
A wonderful first guest in that office
Some weeks ago it seemed like Ola barely knew any Megadeth songs, and now this... amazing
EternalAwait haha true😂
Not so amazing, he didn't know Kiko played on Dystopia and though Dave Mustain was 60 not a great interview, also he thought Kiko only had 3 solo records
@@keithyh3711 Well, you're uptight aren't ya
@@ryansheesley3703 No, he should know that if he's interviewing someone. Just watched his Dave Davidson episode and he didn't know how many albums Revocation did either. Not knowing Kiko played on Dystopia?? That's a huge one.
@@DushyantsCHANNEL thanks, that was my point,I'm not being uptight, Ryan sheesley just that he should do his research before any interviews.
I can't wait to hear what Kiko will do on the next Megadeth album.
the riffs of “Nothing to say” is one of my favourites of all time!
Z.i.t.o.
Soldano999 thats also a good one!
great album
temple of shadows way better
@@Utubesuxmycock I didnt listen to that one. I think the last album i heard from Angra was Fireworks. I will give it a go this weekend!
@@danimourinho LOL
fireworks isnt even an album
its just a compilation
Our prayers have been answered
"You have to learn how to learn"
Spot on! Thank you.
Hearing Chris Poland get a shout-out made my day. Got to see him live in a tiny club, with Damn The Machine, and met him after the show. More people need to know about his playing.
Ola, Kiko is also known as "Tesouro", a nickname his mother gave to him. So next time, you can call him "Tesouro".
I can certify that this is true. Please do so.
No homo?
If they meet again and Ola doesn't call him tesouro, I'll unsub

"Today with Kiko Lureru" -- Ola Englund
One of the most well rounded guitarist on the planet. He can pretty much play anything in any style.
He ain’t lying about watching those old vhs videos over and over. I had PG’s Intense Rock and Vinnie Moore’s Speed Accuracy and articulation that I must have watched at least 1,000 times.
Lol yeah I remember wearing those out. Then when I got Michael Angelo bateo vhs. I was more just amazed. Hell still amazed watching him.
'mysterious and Egyptian..'
Melhor Coffee with Ola já feito. Amazing, for sure! Cheers from Brasil.
Hell yeah! Should've talked more about Angra xD
Maybe it's because I'm brazilian
I agree!
Stop speaking in Brazilian man. Show some respect. It´s an american channel and they speak american.
-- Wating for the haters.
@@BrunnoCampa Que piadinha bosta..
Vic Math Eu sei. Hahaha
Please do Teemu Mäntysaari of Wintersun!!!
Awesome player.
And Marco Hietala from Nightwish!!
That would be cool. He is seriously the most underrated metal lead player. Absolute beast, I would put him in the top 5 metal guitarists. I don’t know anyone who plays as cleanly as him
Yeah Teemu would be immense
Jari Menpaa too ;)
("Reflective") sry "Sounds of Innocence"
album from Kiko L. is real Marsterpiece.
sup dawg
Listen: ''universo inverso '' . For me it is a unique album. Full of nuances and representing Brazilian and Latin Cuban culture.
@@alcimarpedro2443 wow ,its real music .

True!!
Ahah.. true
Fernando Kähs that’s crazy Kiko responded🤘🏻
@@kikoloureiroofficial you really nail it . Wait.... are you a Ola fan boy ? Haha. Keep on the good work Kiko
Nice mix of a Brazilian and a Swedish English accent styles!
"Actually..." Treasure, Kiko
One of the greatest modern guitarists. This mans technique is polished so well it almost looks like his hands aren't even moving when he plays, the notes just bleed out of the neck.
Ahhhh... You're getting better and better in this interview thing Ola... Thanks for bringing Kiko, got some brilliant tips for practicing...
Wow! Great, Kiko is amazing, been a fan since his days in Angra, a very nice surprise! Thanks to him this is probably the best Megadeth lineup in many years
Awesome coffee with Ola, I never thought how easy going is Kiko, so relaxed, so clever too. I'm agree with him about is not the large numbers of hours you dedicate to play guitar, it's about how efficient and focus you will be. So, 1 hour focus is better than 5 hours practicing making the same mistakes. Nice tip, and the best of all, do it to make you fun. Thanks Ola, thanks Kiko, a total honor hear and see you, thanks for share knowledge with us. So, greetings from this Venezuelan guy who lives in Uruguay now. Best regards. 🤘😎🤘🍻🤗🇺🇾
Yes, Sage advice, not just for guitar playing but for anything you strive to be great at. Quantity seldom beats out quality
One of the best guitar players out there! Kiko's solo albums are absolutely amazing!
If you haven't listen to it, go to spotify, deezer etc.
Lança o parangolé nervoso Kiko!!

@@tiagoshade No vídeo em que ele fala sobre o Leo Santana, a frase é "Chupa que aqui tem leite" mesmo. Haha

the only problem with this video is that it ends
Kiko gave Megadeth a very special and unique cultural bit to the tone. Dystopia is a killer album!

OK, so Ola got Kiko Loureiro for a Coffee with Ola session... I'm stopping everything I'm doing right now !
Same! Just watched this at work. Ha!
Yep. Woke up to pee at 4:15 a.m., saw this video popped up on my phone and promptly made coffee to sit up and watch it.

Wow this is awesome! I didn't expect Kiko and Ola in the same room today. This made my day. ☕
I havent even watched this yet and this made my day seeing this uploaded. Thanks Ola!!
That was truly fun and amazing to watch.
This covfefe with Ola was majestic
This is amazing man, what a talent
Kiko makes us brazilians proud!!! He's not only a terrific guitar player but a awesome guy as well. People should learn from him.
Really interesting interview. Great job. And the the space is great too. Looks good. Thanks!
Awsome interview and great man.
What a versatile player. I love that Kiko doesn't try to fit just one sound or give it all up just because he's now in Megadeth. He still continues to focus on his styles and keep growing as a guitar player. Very interesting and inspiring to watch.
Dude, Ola, this was an awesome coffee session! I love Kiko's style...he's got a completely different vibe that stands out! And dude, I aspire to have a coffee with Ola and Jason someday!
This is awesome. Just going through all the content on this channel and this one is definitely a gem.
I've been waiting this moment soooo long!
Now I dream to see a jam session of Kiko, Ola and Jeff Loomis!
I was watching this interview with a big smile on my face, my Brazilian heart was beating fast. This guy is a great person, an amazing player and it's someone that embrace so many influences in playing that I feel inspired just by seeing the great contrasts between how much he knows and how "normal" he is when talking about practice and discipline. Great video 🤘🔥
Long live Kiko Loureiro, Michael Romeo, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci & Steve Vai
Such a brilliant video! Extremely positive and very cool! Thank you, Ola and Kiko!
Great video! Questions and answers are both in depth.

Kiko Loureiro is the best! Thank you for this interview
Dude this was awesome! And unexpected 🤘🤘🤘
This is amazing, Ola! Thank you for making this happen, was interesting to watch!
To be honest I've never been a Kiko's fan. this may be the best '' Coffee with Ola''. lots of advice, many years of effort does not mean practicing the same thing for 10 hours a day..
a lesson I learned 20 years ago - secret is in the right hand.
the best example: KFK, J. Hetfield, Gary Holt, etc.... I like a part in 34:50, it's beginning of Satriani's '' Power Cosmic'' but with picking. Thanks to Kiko and Ola!!!!! Cheers from Serbia!!
Está aí uma figura nacional pra valorizar. Precisamos de mais figuras e referencia nacionais como ele.
Such a great episode, Ola. This has been very enlightening. Thanks!
Great interview 🤘🤘🤘
Pretty cool how you see Ola genuinely listening and taking advice when he is already a sick player. I guess that's how you keep improving.
When he said I'm a Satriani fan, i swear to God he started to look like him with hair!
Mahmoud Ehab Lol. You can hear a lot of Satriani in his playing.
Excellent interview.
Thank You! Very enjoyable! You are both great on the axe and beyond.
E mais uma vez estamos aqui reunidos graças ao algoritmo do UA-cam.
Ola, you look lost when kiko jokes about Holdsworth. You should check his discography. It is unreal.
So, so good. Just mind blowing
pretty much.
Allan is one of the best composers in the human history!
At which minute does Kiko mention God Holdsworth?
Urvas Bethud any recommendations?
I really enjoyed the practice tips. Great stuff Ola!
