Titanic is a comedy in that we spend 2 hours hoping Jack survives when the beginning of the film clearly reveals that he didn't since Rose's last name isn't Dawson.
2 hours? I remember my parents got it on cassette and it was two vhs's.
@@Chetloore: I meant to write 3, but I do remember watching it with my parents on VHS as a kid and they had to switch the tapes after the collision scene.
He survived, but once they got out of that survival scenario they realized they hated each other, so they broke up.

As someone who was a teenager when this movie was released, it was a good date night movie at 15 years old you almost guaranteed the girl next to you would hug you. And it got awkward when it was not the girl that you were actually taking to the movies
This is a great, honest, and accurate bit.
Friend was a Titanic nut, reading everything he could find about it, and wanted to go see the movie but had no one to go with him, so I did. I had no interest of any kind in the flick besides, perhaps, the pedestrian special effects. After the film if people asked me about it I said it was an hour and a half of "chick flick" followed by another hour and a half of people freezing and drowning. To this day I hate that stupid movie, and it is part of the reason I stopped taking the Oscars seriously and never watch it.
The Mythbusters did an episode on Titanic and found out that Jack and Rose couldn't have both been on the floating thing, it wouldn't have been able to keep afloat with both of them on it.
You might have to watch that episode again because that episode proves that jack and rose could have survived on the door till the boat came back because even James Cameron was in shock when it was proven
@@beauhughes1285 no, it proved that in a very specific and unlikely set of circumstances that involved more modern knowledge, they *may* have been able to both survive but it was so unlikely that it wouldn't have happened. It is plausible that Rose and Jack could have both stayed afloat on the board and survived hypothermia just long enough to be rescued-but only if they'd thought to tie Rose's life jacket underneath the board to help with its buoyancy. Otherwise, the weight of both their bodies would have sunk the board low enough in the freezing water that they both would have died. They tested if Jack could have survived the water long enough to be rescued, but the water lowered the temperature of the dummy used to below surviving rates nearly ten minutes before rescue would have arrived, long enough for Jack to have lost motor control and drowned. When they tested if the door could have stayed afloat for over an hour with the weight of both on it, it lowered pretty quickly. The only way to have survived was to-in the freezing water- take Rose's life vest and tie it to the bottom of the door. So it's technically possible they could have survived, but it's more likely that, as the script says, Jack dies.

As someone now in their 40s, I already know in my teens that Titanic would be a horror film in 1997, back then in the late 90s I had already had a model Titanic and would sink it in the bathtub in the late 1980s as a child. 😳. Titanic literally was about the largest Vessel at its time that was deemed "Unsinkable by God Himself/Herself", as a literal motto and the ship sunk on its maiden voyage.. duh. The other White Star Line Vessel was canceled and or renamed motto. Irregardless of superstitious beliefs or not, anyone who boarded that ship knowing that was its motto officially knew that Words have Power, Do not tempt. I only pity those who did not voluntarily travel on the vessel on its doomed first and Last Maiden voyage.
